I am very new to this, I went to a kinda local vape store. My options were a smok vv smok fixed voltage, and an eVic, naturally I wanted the eVic, but could not justify spending the money on a "maybe I'll get into this". Well my transformation was immediate from smoker to vapor. I could not be much happier. But now I feel like I may be regretting my purchase, in the end I left with a Smoktech Winder, and a eVod. Does anyone have any comment on the quality of either, or both. I am extremely happy with my resistance to the analogs, they taste like garbage that is on fire now, after a few hours. (I don't know if it's subconscious, or if it's... hell I don't care what it is) I just don't know about the build quality, and longevity. The threads kinda feel rough. I am a machinist, therefore I take great pride in my work. I am sure my part, that sells for $500,000.00 is much better made than a $25.00 battery, but I am just trying to get extra input.
Thanks,
DanG

I don't know about the Winder, it is fairly new, but the Joyetech Twist and Vision Spinners are the same type of thing and they are good.

Kanger Evod is very highly regarded, clones can be hit and miss.

Try a little dab of NOALOX on the threads, makes them feel smooth. Use just a little though.

Overall I would say you got a very good setup, let us know how the Winder holds up.

From my experience, smok products are hit or miss. Some work great and last, and some stuff just craps out quickly.
Smok just makes inexpensive clones of popular vape gear.

Kanger Evods are well liked by many but there are clones that just don't work as well.

If you want a higher quality version of your current setup grab a joyetech ego twist or vision spinner and some kanger evods.

Welcome to ECF. You have made a good decision with the Winder and Evods for your first setup. Did not spend a lot of money finding out if you like vaping. Smart move. I am using 2 Vision Spinners and 2 Smotek Winders, both 1300mah. I charge one a day. And I use Kanger Evods when I am out. I always drip on a 510 atty when at home. Can not get any easier and with the winder you will learn how to dial in your vape to fine tune it to your taste. Take your time before you drop a lot of money on another device, besides your backup. You need one to use while the other is charging. I have almost 2 1/2 months smoke free after smoking 2 packs a day for over 45 years. And I am a little old lady with no tech background. The only difference between the winder and spinner for me is that I can see the settings on the dial better on the spinner.

I am just now buying an MVP2 as my first vv/vw device because of the form factor and the quality and for how I would be using it. If I could, I would get a Provari but I can not afford it. I also considered the SVD and Vamo. The Evic seemed too fragile to me. I did a lot of reading here and watching Youtube videos reviews before deciding on my first vv/vw device. Check the Forums and read about the different ones and what people like about them and the problems they are having. I do not fiddle, so I needed get and go, no rebuilding, sanding, drilling of holes or fancy stuff.

You will have the time to read and learn and choose what will work for you. Pretty, shiny syndrome hits men too. Take your time. And watch out for Fasttech fever. Especially you, with your tech background. I see a hobby coming.

Good luck and have fun. Don't be afraid to ask questions. Lots of real knowledgable people here to help in any way they can.

Oh, and the secret to staying off the cigarettes. Solid dependable equipment and eliquid you can vape all day. Find a few you love. Buy lots of sample packs from different vendors. Some need to steep, like red wine needs to age.

Thanks for the replys, it wasn't my ideal setup. Kinda why I was asking. I had a feeling it would become a hobby for me even before I bought anything, given my addictive nature, and my desire for the best everything. I was definitely ready for that and made the decision it was a good trade off given the health benefits coupled with a few other reasons. Looking back 2 days I kinda already had a couple regrets. So I figured I could ask y'all and get an honest, yep you f-ed up, or a it'll work for now. I guess it got me right off the "analogs", therefore did its job, much faster than I ever would have expected I might add. I don't even love the flavor it is only a menthol. Thanks for your help again, DanG

Welcome, and congrats!

The way I feel about it...you took the cheaper option because you couldn't justify the setup you really wanted if you weren't sure this was something you would enjoy, and that's cool. That's smart. But now you know that you do enjoy it! I would really suggest going back for the setup you really, really liked. This initial investment is definitely not wasted - you learned you enjoy this, you learned you could kick analogs with it, and now you have backups! And if you end up with more stuff than you'll ever need, you also have a nice little starter kit to pass on to a newbie who isn't sure about things in the future.

Basically, no, you didn't f-up. You made a very wise decision, learned what you set out to learn with it, and it'll work for now.

Yeah it doesn't mater how you got here, it only maters that you have arrived. We have all gone through the same basic steps, and many are still looking for more satisfaction.

I am with you on your addictive nature comment. How do I get better vape, oh I need an VV pvd. k got that, how do I get the big massive tasting vape cloud, oh I really need a quality rba, k got that, how do I maximize the efficiency of my rba, oh I need to perfect my coil build and investigate different wicks, wire, SS mesh, ceramic, micro coils....... and decide what method and material I need that makes sense to me. YouTube is your friend.

That's exactly why I now own a Provari and the Russian and have a genesis on the way. Ahh, but it's worth it. oh that reminds me need to try this new build I've been thinking about. once you get it, you're still not finished lmao

Simple is simple, If you are happy and your choice works well, why second guess yourself. Down the road there is always room for expansion.
First things first though:

1 Evod does not a Vapor Make. A coil craps out in the middle of the night and you may find yourself at the local mini-mart.
Pick up a few for backup/extra flavors - Add in a 5 pack of coil heads and learn how to keep them working well(cleaning processes)

Batteries can work for months, years or die in a few days. A bad coil can give one a sudden death.
An extra Battery or two is a wise move to protect your overall investment in quitting.

People can throw all their high end Toys and such at you all day, but in the beginning most started small.
Many, after years, still use basic Batteries and Cheaper delivery systems.

This is not a competition, it is a choice you have made and a commitment to better your health and your Life. Enjoy the moment and do not stress over others choices.
