I've been trying all sorts of crazy things, besides 'normal' gennie builds, to get my standard Dids to perform quite right. My Temons are working quite nicely--i've had the same 5/4 30g 1.3 Ω coils in them for over a week. They work fine, even with the fill screw in.

If i build the Dids with anything over, like a 1.1Ω coil, they hardly vape at all. Go any lower than a 0.8Ω, my juice tastes too burnt. No hot spots, or gaps, or anything.

I googled optimal Did builds, and looked here, as well as the MM Vapors forum. A couple of things--trying a 3/2 wrap, which i have never have done on a gennie.

The second thing i found tho, not sure of the source, was that if you have, say, a 5/4 coil wrap, the 5 wrap side should face the airhole.

The entire TIME that i have been wiring my gennies, i have been doing it ...-backwards. Story of my life lol.

Got home, cleaned up my 270 straw wick on one of my Dids. 3/2 wrap, 30g kanthal, with the 3 facing the airhole. Winds are clockwise around the neg and pos connection. Counter around the wick. 1.2Ω. Works nice, and it seems to work with the fill screw in. I don't know if it was because i had the whole winding thing backwards. But something to consider :D

I think the Temon design might be more forgiving, because the neg fastener and fill screw, and nut fasteners at the pos end are a lot smaller, with more vertical real estate to play in. This is a more forgiving design, for me. I think thats why i found the little Did clones so easy.
