Di,

Does Eastmall have an "official" opinion on long-term use of standard batteries with LR attys? Reason I ask is that there's talk on the board that using anything other that high drain batteries will result in shorter battery life.

Just wondering if you guys have done any testing on this...

Thanks!

I cannot speak for any other LR atty but only Eastmall -----

as far as I know our LR-EM5 attys are designed to be used with the standard 3.7 ecig battery.

also, many people are still using their very first LR-em5 atty
after more than 1 month of continuous daily usage,
so I do not think anything special is required at all.

I am still usiong my very first 2 LR-EM5 attys
after 3 weeks now of all day use
one - on a standard RiVa battery,
and one on the Indulgence with 18650 battery,

all very standard -------- nothing special at all -----
and still getting plumes of vapor - like on day one -------

I have not noticed any drop off in battery life, either.

now, having posted all that ----

please understand that I am nooooooooooooooooooooooo expert,

and I have no idea about battery things, life etc,

so some other experts might chime in here for you,

this is my humble and personal opinion,

I do think that people get carried away with all this technical stuff---

I think --

if it works, -- it is good, --

if it lasts a week it is good,

if it lasts and works well for a month -- it is fantastic --

and my LR-EM5 attys and the batteries I use them with are all going great after 3 weeks, --

I am very happy.

Banjoman,

A regular Atty draws approx 1 Amp an LR Atty draws approx 2 Amp, double the draw on a Reg Atty. Therefor shorter life with a regular 18650 Battery compared to say an
AW IC18650 battery I would think . There is also a safety factor here as well using a high drain Battery over a non high drain because you are over stressing a regular battery because it cant handle the Amp draw compared to the high drain. These are the 2 most important reasons of using the high drain compared to a non high drain. The runtime is of course what we all want the most of but you have to look at all factors of why using a high drain is better then a non high drain battery. I'm sticking with the high drain Batteries myself when using an LR Atty because of these reasons alone.

OK Smartypants -------------- hahahahahahahha

I told you I am no expert, --------- pooooooooooo

I am still getting 12 hours with my regular 18650 batteries
and 10 hours with my RiVa batteries --
with LR-EM5 atty, so I really cannot complain about that ---

do you mean that I will get less recharges with them
cos they will wear out faster -- is that it --- ??????

you see my -----
technological brilliance shining thru here !!!!  :D:laugh:

Thanks for the responses. :)

I'm no expert either... that's why I'm trying to find out what I can. So far my 14500's are holding up well, but I'll probably order some high drains soon just for the LR's. I'll save my regular batts for the cartomizers.

Thanks again

Agreed Di. It's nice to be able to come and ask questions when the need arises.

One thing that bothers me, though: If this turns out to be as big an issue as I've been reading, we might see a lot of people with battery problems soon as I suspect most are like me and aren't using high drain batteries with their LR's. I've seen other suppliers telling folks to use batteries of 650 mAh or higher with LR's, but I haven't seen any websites warning people to use high drains with them. It might be a headache down the road for anyone who offers an extended warranty on their batteries. :(

Run time is of course the biggest objective for most no doubt, but remember what I've said about this drawing of 2 Amps compared to 1 Amp, the biggest factor is everyone over stressing there Batteries here. mostly everyone keeps recharging there batts charge after charge, as the Battery weakens after all these charges we dont want that Batt to vent when a load is drawn from it, the IC 18650 and all the IC are made for this higher 2 Amp draw, so safety is the biggest factor and many dont think of this or it never crosses there mind when vaping, but we all should, we dont want that pv to ever explode in our face and thats what could happen and if it does you will lose some teeth for sure, especially stacking Batteries, so always use protected at a minimum, It would be great for Em to make a deal with AW since they are in China maybe this could happen if David spoke to the man who makes these AW Batts that would be awesome because they are expensive. he chats with people on Lighthound and cpf forums and would be easy for David to talk with for sure.!!!

1 AW 18650 IC 2600mAH cost anywhere from 15.99-18.00 thats not cheap but I know for one I am sticking with these Batts just for safety alone, Using an LR Atty with the High drain wont give a ton more run time but probably more run time for sure because of the 2 Amp vs 1 Amp thing, If your going to have and run a great PV like the Indulgence isn't it worth it to run the best Batts in the world as well.!!

I think the recommendation is for minimum 450mah batteries with these LR attys,

and I think you will find the extended warranty is for the kits you buy -- this comes with regular attys- not LR attys

I dont know about anyone else,
but our warranty on batteries - and attys --
is only 7 days to report a DOA, - on first use.
They have always been considered disposable items, ------

we extended ourselves to warrant our LR-EM5 atty
for 7 days cos we were confident it was good.
but our batteries have no warranty as such----
- only DOA on first use.
