So, I've been thinking about buying a TC mod, but I'm on a budget... At the same time I want something that can stand the test of time. What is/will be the best TC mod that has replaceable batteries?

DOVPO
Heatvape Invader
EHPro SPD A5
Kangxin
FT Flask Clone
ipv4 (maybe wait for the new IPVs and hope these will go on sale?)
IPV D2

I'm looking for something that can potentially last years, as this will probably be my last regulated mod purchase before the regulating bonanza occurs. Anything that has cheap rattly buttons or seems to have shoddy workmanship is out... If it's something with pretty simple innards (and easy access to those innards) would be a plus, as I'm not opposed to future self repair. I really don't need more than 30/40 watts in regular VW mode, and I'd prefer something with parallel batteries for longevity.

Honestly I'd hold off on picking up a TC mod for now. Lots of things are happening and changing, new mods are coming out like the eVic VT, older mods are being updated like the Invader Mini (there are 2 versions of that out now), clones are picking up speed and quality...

But if you HAVE to have a TC mod right NOW, I'd say go with the Waidea Vapor Flask clone. I have an IPV 4, a first release Invader Mini, and a Waidea Flask clone, and the clone is my favorite hands down, and was about the same price as my Invader Mini at about $70. If you want to spend a little more for an authentic DNA40, the Hcigar HB DNA40 is the least expensive authentic on the market at around $100.

But ultimately though... I'd still recommend waiting a month or two. The eVic VT looks very promising, but we'll find out more when some reviews start coming out about it.

it will never stop changing but i would wait at least 2 more months or maybe wait till the fall, tc is still in its infancy, me personally im gonna wait till the end of 2015 or early 2016, my best guess is that every new mod will have tc.
nickel is tricky to deal with and we need reputable sources for nickel.
but if my backup mod dies i'll be picking one up sooner rather than later as they all work in normal kanthal mode

Thanks, I think I will probably wait at least 6 months or so before I decide to pull the trigger on TC as I'm personally not having much trouble with burnt hits or find that I have a real NEED for temperature control at the moment. Plus in the past few months I've bought a few mods and at least 300 feet of kanthal so I may as well put that to good use before throwing money at new toys. :)

I'd like to see more mods like the SX Mini M-Class come out in the near future.

If the eVic had replaceable batteries I'd definitely be tracking it, but since it does not I'll be holding out for something else.

I only use TC since I got my SXM about 6 weeks ago. Haven't even tried regular wattage mode since then. My TC coils these last few weeks have been twisted NI200 and Kanthal A1 so I have plenty of usage for my Kanthal wire. I love the consistency, smoothness, and flavor using that combination. Slightly more power needed but not bad.

I can see this been an issue for some. But having a capacity of 5000 mah would last you for awhile. Plus they are touting that their device would be extremely efficient using TC modes and juice consumption. I've noticed you get more mileage out of juice anyways regardless of the TC device. But at the same time, since you don't feel the need then of course no reason to jump for anything. Who knows what else this year holds!

I'm buying the dovpo now just to have a play with tc, a weekend with a friends m class was enough to sell me on tc he nearly had to fight to get the m class back lol. Xmas time will be my "few years" mod buy and by then perhaps be a new version of the sx mini to buy, even with the problems you can have with current tc mods when it works it's just a better vape more consistent and better flavour or at least it was for me.

Had a look at the ehpro, im not sure why it says 5w minimuim. Wouldnt that burn dry cotton?
That's the lowest the device will fire in vw mode and of course TC mode. Its fairly common to see any regulated mod choose to do so. Pretty much pointless as anything you throw on it will take easily 10+ watts. But I assure you that won't toast cotton in TC.

I'm more of a high end guy and definitely prefer replaceable batteries, but this E-Vic is attractive even to me. It looks good, has some nice features, and a 5000mah battery is pretty insane for the size. Plus, dat price!

The istick 50 put me off non removable battery devices I barely get 12 hours out of mine and that's dipping already so the evic never appealed to me but for less heavy vapers could be a good introduction to tc I'm happy waiting for mine to arrive from China and have a play with that.

AFAIK, the iSticks use an internal 18650; with a capacity like 5000mah, the EVIC can only be a LIPO, which should get much better longevity. (I know nothing about anything past the iStick 20w, though, that was the only one I ever looked into.)

Oh of course which is why its that last TC device I have purchased. I figured it would quite alright with the size of that internal battery. Especially when I change out the battery at least once a day in my dna40s. What suckered me in was the price (well what I got it for), battery size, and its touted efficiency in TC.

Nice. I'm looking forward to reviews. Even if I don't want one myself, I'll probably be recommending it to friends who ask me about TC.

I'll most likely be getting mine a week or two after everyone else, such as the case from a group buy. But that's fine with me and snagged a couple of packs of Ni and Ti coils but those won't come in til July . Although I've seen one or two people on ECF that have this device already in hand (most likely testers, not sure) and its been quite positive from their outlook.
