while I'm sure this has been covered ad nauseam elsewhere in the forum, I need a recommendation.

I've long-since moved on to bigger and better mods, but I'm trying to get my mother (PAD smoker 40+ years) to have a go at vaping. She is not the type that will want to fuss around with accessories, and as she's home most of the time, I don't think she'll need a big battery. I'm trying to find out what the ECF consensus is on the best cigarette-look-a-like model on the market, and the delivery method that's most user friendly (tanks I assume). Sky's the limit price-wise, again ease of use and high-quality parts are most important. Thanks!

Thanks for the quick reply Darth - I have heard a few good things about the Volt myself, just want to make sure the community agrees before I waste any money!

No problem. This forum has helped me so much I try to return the favor as much as I can. I've just won a Vapow mini but have yet to get it to try it out. If I had to actually by one I would get the Volt from Smokeless Image.

Sitting down, facing forward.
I can't say enough about the Volt, both performance and customer service. If you want to fill CE3s for her, the new ones from Volt will really make the conversion from tobacco much easier. Then, you can upgrade to the X2 battery series and maintain the 808 thread system while enjoying much longer battery life.

Thanks JJ, the three that I know of are Blu, Bloog, and the Volt. I assume they are all comparable in terms of the actual technical specs anyways, so performance should be very similar. Guess I should just go with the cheaper of the three?

No, take out Blu. Bloog and Volt are good though and so is Vapor4life.

Glad to hear. I don't live with her, so I won't be able to help her too much along the way. I was going to get her the kit, show her the basics on how to use it and fill cartos and such, and leave her with it. Being a straight lifetime dripper, I've never dabbled with cartos/tanks/clearos/CEs or whatever else the cool kids are playing with these days! you think the CE3s are simple enough for a brand new user to figure out?

There simply is no replacing the moment you found your first killer flavor. It was vanilla for me. That is when I quit smoking analogs. Up until then I was on a fence with both. I'd fill up a pack of ce3's bottomcoils (Phoenix at Gotvapes) with some choice liquid from Altcigs. I can't help think she will like them so much that she will be willing to fill her own from them on. They should last a week minimum. If a syringe is a little extreme the ego changeable coil carts and the flowery girly ego batteries from Healthcabin should appeal to her. A gal is a gal after all and the design's are stylish. it's the juice that will win her over. imho. If you must have a terbaccy flavor, the silver leaf from Pure smoker with the Budpro starter kit will do. Just prefill her carto's for her. Don't foeget the vanilla.

yea I was in the same boat - vaped on and off for almost a year without doing any serious research or testing. Eventually found a nice RY4 and that was it, haven't had a stinky since.

I think I'll get her a couple of tobacco flavours in addition to maybe some tea/coffees, fruits, and vanilla/ry4 something-or-other. I'm sure she can fill up her own carts, I was more looking for a delivery system with the least amount of maintenance. I assume a tank would be best, because it requires the list amount of refilling, no?

It's not hard to fill them, just draw liquid into a blunt syringe, insert and fill while holding the CE3 "upside down" (battery end up) and don't overfill. Some people seem to have a problem with syringes which is why I mentioned the idea of you filling them. The GV or SI bottom coil tank style cartomizers are the latest and greatest. I waited for SI to get them and they do produce excellent flavor and excellent vapor. There can be problems with them, like battery posts not being quite long enough and some people are complaining about a "burnt taste" (probably from primer). They don't leak and hold a little over 1ml of liquid so they last a fair amount of time without getting to bigger tanks. After using them for the last three days or so, I used a regular carto today and couldn't believe the difference. I think I have a lot of spare cartos now. They do match the "mini" sized batteries exactly so the cigarette form factor is intact.

The kit, wherever you buy it from, is a great idea and keeps things organized while prodiving everything you need. Look for a kit with two batteries, 78mm if you go with Volt, charger case, external charger and some cartos (assorted flavors needless to say). Kits are available with lots more, but the basics will work, too. The 78mm Volt batteries are 320mah and will last significantly longer than the 65mm and only cost a buck more. Autos are probably a good idea to start with, but you probably know all of this from your own experiences.

I would also recommend the Volt, they have 24 mg strength which is suitable for someone been smoking for 40 years, the battery will last more than other cig look a like and they do have tanks. www.smokelssimage.com.
