Best e-cig for under $100 (not a 510)

So far I have used the following; Smok woo (my favorite) ego c-twist, some kind of ego, and now a generic ego. All but the smok woo has been broken. The c-twist just STOPPED working out of the blue. If I hit the button it will blink as if the battery is dead. It only lasted a week but it comes in second favorite. I am thinking about going back to the c-twist, But was wondering if there is any better options out there for the price. Now on to tanks, any recommendations as to which ones are the best? I have been using some tanks (don't know the name) I got from my local shop. They only hold 1.6ml and open from the bottom. They are the best ones I have tried. It seems everything I get from that shop doesn't work well and or breaks. Throat hit is most important to me, but I would like a decent amount of vapor as well. Would like to hear some personal experiences and pros/cons. Thanks in advance. Also, if I do go back to the c-twist what tanks work well with higher voltage? I noticed if I went past 4.0 my juice taste burnt.

I cant open it for some reason? New member?

Odd, you should have access.

I will repost it here:

We in the vaping community have a lot of choices. Atomizers, Cartomizers, Tanks, Clearomizers, Different VV/VW mods, not to mention the huge range of e-liquids!

Unfortunately, we do a piss poor job of leading the newbies through the maze of decisions. We are all too focused on our next new thing to try/buy. We need to provide the initiate with a path to a solid satisfying vape.

We need to provide a cheap recommendation, that will give them a damn decent vape, so they can experience what we know to be true; Vaping is enjoyable.

Variable Voltage / Variable Wattage just confuse the issue. Choose the right resistance, and there is no need for the complications.

Assuming we want a cheap way to start vaping, I would suggest starting with an eGo pass through, such as this:
Ego 510 Passthrough 3.7 Volt

Knowing that this battery puts out between 3.5v to 3.7 volts, take a look at this chart:
http://img689.imageshack.us/img689/2006/unled66.jpg

What that means is that we need around a 2.0 ohm coil, for this particular battery. I would suggest something like this:
Smok Tech 2.0 Ohm Black Dual Coil Cartomizer

Add a good quality e-liquid, that gives a nice flavor such as:
Red Oak Tennessee Cured Smoke Juice Johnson Creek Smoke Juice

Now they can get into a good day of vaping, for very little cost.

From here they can upgrade to tanks, and bigger batteries, but they will always have a nice combination to fall back on.

That was my combo. Got a twist and vivi nova now but love that juice. So is an APV/Mod really not a better vape at all?

Nope, no better at all. A battery is just a battery.

As long as the equipment is properly matched, you get NO F-IN benefit at all NONE.

VV/VW mods are only useful when you do not have a matched up system, or when you want to use the same battery across different setups.

If your voltage/current/wattage is already matched to your atomizer, what benefit do you get from changing it?

There is only one thing wrong with a regular old 510, just battery life.

If you enjoy 510s, and have a PCC, then you are already good to go. Enjoy vaping.

He didn't say a "Not a Cig-a-like" he said "Not a 510".

510 is a threading not a style/size...

"Not a 510" means:

Not an eGo
Not a Twist
Not a Bolt
Not a Lavatube
Not a Vamo
Etc.

Which was why I was confused he said "Not a 510" and then proceeded to list a bunch of 510 stuff.

If I were going to start all over again today, knowing what I have learned over the past few months, and had the specific requirements you've listed, I would probably go with something like the Lavatube Inferno starter kit from Volcano. For $79 + Shipping, you get both a 650mAh and 900 mAh eGo style battery that can be charged and vaped at the same time (kinda passthrough, but not really), a mini tank / carto setup, 5 replacement 1.5 Ohm cartos, charger, usb cable, and a bottle of Volcano's juice lineup. The batteries are 3.7v, but at 1.5 Ohm the coils in the cartos should get nice and warm, and give a nice vape.

Check it out and see if this is something like what you're looking for:

510 is both a connector, and a battery type.

From his question he was talking about the battery, hence my response.

yes and no... I mean the way it was phrased i though he was implying he wanted to avoid all 510 stuff.

The issue is that while saying 510 used to commonly refer to cig-a-likes... it really doesn't anymore... I mean what % do you think of 510 threaded items sold today are cig-a-likes?

With this set up you would only have 3 watts per coil. That is not a good vape in my opinion. You would be better off with a 2 ohm single coil.

Dam718, that is a great suggestion. My only issue with the 1.5 ohm setups on the 3.7 batteries is, while they produce tons of vapor they can mute the flavor, which is why I suggested the 2.0.

Regardless it is a good suggestion.

Considering a lot of the mainstream walmart/etc stores sell them, I think a whole crap load. ex. BLU

That is what I thought, until I tried it.

I have tried it as well you have to draw to long to get the same vape you have to remember people that just quit smoking like to take quick draws around 3sec not 6-7 sec. So I think it is best to stay with 7-8 watts per coil l.
