Kanthal.

Simple answers for simple questions. If you want a more "robust" answer, be more specific in your inquiry. Also, the Rebuildable Atomize Systems subforum has discussions on wick and wire types, you might want to go check out the discussions over there.

Favorite wire, for me, depends on what I am building for. Mechanical mods normally get paired with SS or N80 (Nichrome)
Regulated mods I'll throw in kanthal (normally mixed in with other wires.)
Best is personal preference really. Some like TC wires like nickel and titanium and even tungsten

smok V8 battery
If I'm not mistaken, that device utilizes direct output voltage. In other words, there are no settings for you to "dial in" your desired performance; the output simply tapers off as an artifact of the battery's charge state. If the vape seems to "weak" or "anemic" with Kanthal (K1) wire, you might consider Nichrome (Ni80) or Stainless Steel (I use SS316L, but there are other varieties of SS as well) wires as they have less resistance, and can therefore get lower ohms (which will in turn provide higher power at the same voltage) without going too thick of wire or too few of wraps. SS is about half the resistance of Kanthal, and Nichrome is somewhere in the middle.

Do not use Titanium (Ti) or pure nickel (Ni200) wire on that device, as those are meant for use in the appropriate Temperature Control modes only, which yours does not provide, I don't believe.

The SS just seems taste cleaner to me and it works in TC mode.
I don't get the "cleaner" taste from it, but then I'm not, and never was a super-taster. I do like that it can do both power and TC modes with the same wire type. My favorite coils right now are made of Kanthal, but I think it's more about the structure (Claptons) than it is about the composition, this time.

See I am a "super taster". I am the type of person that can eat a dish at a restaurant a couple of times then come home and recreate the same recipe b/c I can taste all of the ingredients, spices, and seasonings and identify them. So I can taste the difference between fresh Kanthal and fresh SS. Though after about 3ml or so that taste goes away. I can also taste fresh cotton. I almost hate the first few ml of a fresh wick b/c it always seems to taste like band-aids smell to me no matter what kind of cotton I use, if it's been boiled or not, etc.

I'm a weird guy though, I can be in a pitch black room with a fan on, and I swear I can "see" the sound vibrations of the fan blades buffeting the air. It a phenomenon known as Synesthesia. Oh and I am ambidextrous with everything except hand writing. Told you I was weird.
