See I am a "super taster". I am the type of person that can eat a dish at a restaurant a couple of times then come home and recreate the same recipe b/c I can taste all of the ingredients, spices, and seasonings and identify them. So I can taste the difference between fresh Kanthal and fresh SS. Though after about 3ml or so that taste goes away. I can also taste fresh cotton. I almost hate the first few ml of a fresh wick b/c it always seems to taste like band-aids smell to me no matter what kind of cotton I use, if it's been boiled or not, etc.

I am just like that! I'm the same way with cooking as I am with vaping. I agree that fresh wicks taste funky for the first tankful (or two, sometimes) and I like the way SS tastes cleaner than Kanthal or Nichrome. It just does. To me though, cotton is cotton is cotton. Cotton balls, cotton bandage gauze, Zen Master grown organic cotton prayed over in Haiku... it all tastes funky until it's had a half dozen ml of liquid through it. Where on the Japanese islands is there even room to grow all this cotton? Organically? Are we being had? Because my old roll of bandage gauze is a good wicker.

I'm a weird guy though, I can be in a pitch black room with a fan on, and I swear I can "see" the sound vibrations of the fan blades buffeting the air. It a phenomenon known as Synesthesia. Oh and I am ambidextrous with everything except hand writing. Told you I was weird.

Ok. I'm weird, but not that weird.

I think "Japanese cotton" means "cotton, in the Japanese style" and not "cotton, originating from Japan."

I have often wondered if we were being had as well. I noticed the same taste using boiled cotton yarn (which was a perfect wick for micro coils and super easy to push through once you made the right tip for it).

Ok. I'm weird, but not that weird.

LOL.

In my case it really is Japanese considering the entire back label on the packaging is in Japanese. The brand is Koh Gen Do.

That's were the term Japanese Cotton originated from, with the Koh Gen Do cosmetic pads. Not because the cotton was grown in japan.

True, I suppose they could import the cotton and just do the manufacturing/packaging. Then again it may just be a Japanese company that farms out the growing, manufacturing and packaging to China like the rest of the world does with their goods.

Guys, and if I wanted to build dualcoil build, what about the resistance? Does it stay the same, or does it divide? (For example coil is 0.4ohm)

Depends on if it is a parallel or series coil build. Series you add the resistances of all coils together.
Rtotal = R1 + R2 + R3....
For parallel the exact formula is the reciprocal of the sum of the reciprocals of each coil. That would be expressed as:
Rtotal = 1/(1/R1 + 1/R2 + 1/R3....)
For two coils exactly the same of 0.4ohms in parallel would be 0.2ohms.

EDIT: You would enter this into a calculator as 1 / ((1 / 0.4) + ( 1 / 0.4))

Stainless steel, any of the variations, I can't tell a difference but I probably haven't tried them all. Any stainless will be fine but 316l seems to be most popular and I enjoy it greatly.

316L is great, and usually what mods with TC for SS are for (hopefully). If you get a different type of SS such as 430, you'll need a mod that you adjust the TCR manually, as the value is different than that for 316L. Both are fine in generic wattage use.

Blech!!! I hate that cotton taste. I mostly use Master of Clouds 100% Organic Japanese Cotton pads and Kendo Gold. The Master of Clouds has had 0 cotton taste to me. I use Kanthal or Stainless wire
