I have a kayfun lite plus that I can't seem to get right. I'm using 28g kanthal and cotton. I've done different builds ranging from .45ohm to 1.2ohm. I know I'm doing something wrong because I vaped one at my local B&M and it was great. I've tried a chimney build, normal horizontal and dual coils. I'd like to stick with a single coil around 1.3ohm as I'm using it on my provari. I can't get the airflow right, I've even taken out the airflow control screw. Also the vape is pretty warm and I get a lot of gurgling. Can anyone suggest a thread or youtube video I should follow? I've heard so much good about these and I'd like to get the full potential from mine. Or should I just spring for a legit kayfun?

If it's a clone, and you are having air-flow issues, have you taken it apart to see if there is any crud in the air flow tube, or centre post? There have been instances where folks have found metal filings and or other stuff in those tubes.

As for build, I use a single (micro/mini) coil, 28g wrapped 8 times around a 3/32 (2.3mm) drill bit, which I then wick with cotton. This gets me a 1.4-1.5ohm coil. I have that simple build on 5 authentic KFL's and have no problems with either air-flow or wicking.

+1 What Dusty said above. Make sure its clean! Remove the air flow adjustment screw and make sure nothing is plugged.

I watched this Kayfun Lite Organic Cotton and Micro Coil Build - YouTube 1st and it really helped me out.

I have 2 authentic SM's and they are awesome. I understand there are many clones that are just as good as the SM versions.

I haven't taken it apart to clean. And that makes sense, hopefully that's the problem. Do you guys think it's worth buying the authentic KFL?

If you want to support the original designer sure.....But honestly not while thinking about superior performance, :p

I make quad twisted 34Gauge coil, 6 to 7 wraps on a 5/64 drill bit for 1.3 - 1.7 Ohm. And it has been blowing me away.....

i'm fairly new to coil wrapping about 2 months in, on my Kayfun for me anything under 1.3 is just to hot and the juice flow just doesn't keep up correctly no-matter how i adjust the airflow screw...my happy medium has been rite at 1.7 to 2.0...perfect for my taste....using Cotton and i spread it & fluff it real good, you can almost see thru it before i prepare it before running it thru the coil...this has been working very well for me...the taste is amazing!

Like 28if, I used the below video as my tutorial guide. I have an authentic Kayfun Lite +.

I'm using a 30g Kanthal microcoil built around a mini-screwdriver (I think about 5 - 6 wraps?) which comes out to around 1.3 ohm. (A low enough ohm that I can use it on a mechanical Silver Bullet in addition to my Provari's.) Organic cotton wick lightly rolled into a little cigar shape. Once through the coil, gently fluff it out on either side of the coil. The amount of cotton and its placement is crucial for best performance IMHO.

I lightly wet the cotton with some e-liquid before I place the vaporizing tube and chimney on the deck; this makes it easier to work with. Snip off excess cotton on the ends and lightly pack it in the tube symetrically before installing the upper chimney.

Then fill the the tank the rest of the usual way through the juice fill hole with a needle/syringe. I may or may not use a couple of primer puffs after vaping the first time, but you shouldn't have to do this if you wetted the cotton before.

I've had the ephro kayfun lite plus clone for 2 weeks now. Very tight draw. Took it apart and cleaned/inspected it, removed airflow screw, fiddled with the center post to make sure it was aligned correctly, and even drilled the side air intake to a 5/64....still a tight draw. Switched coils to a chimney build which helped slightly. Dunno if this is what you've experienced but it's just a much tighter draw.

I have the original Kayfun Lite, the Plus, and the Russian 91% (I am kinda overboard....I was smoking so much that originals are still cheaper to me than smoking)

It sounds like you are having the same probs I did with the original. My fix was using less cotton.

By that I mean all around, not just on either side of the coils. I was twisting the cotton too tight to fit through the coil. So the juice wouldn't wick at the same rate bottom to top.

The loose ends would wick quickly, and the tight part through the coil would go slow - making the ends hold excess juice in the chamber....and gurgle. Since the tight part through the coil wicked slowly, it would produce small amounts of hot vapor.

Hope this helps...and BTW, for me, the best coil was 28 gauge wrapped seven time around the little screwdriver that came with it. Specs out between .9 and 1.2, and put horizontally across the airhole (raised above the airhole for good airflow) produce HUGE clouds and flavor.

I often use it with my Provari set between 2.9 and 3.5 depending on resistance.

It honestly puts out 80% of what my sub ohm drippers do.

That's a tough one to answer. The reason behind my purchases of Authentic KFL+'s are simple, I could not get a clone to see or use without purchasing one and based on my reading around here and the net I did not see any one shining star out of the clones.

After using an original I see no need in researching any Kayfun clones. YMMV

I have those same builds (28g Kanthal at 8-9 wraps around a 3/32 bit - though mine says 2.4mm on the package) ranging from 1.4Ω-1.7Ω and have zero problems on a pretty big array of clones (EhPro KFL+ V2 and Hcigar 3.1) and an authentic Russian 91%. I get great air flow and zero leakage or gurgling.

Check out this video. It's a tutorial for a basic single coil build with organic cotton.

Were you to get a clone, get the Hcigar or EHPro clones. They work great. No leaking. No tight draw.

I second this video. After watching about 20 different ones, this set up finally worked...like a charm!
