Hi all! First post on this site! Just wanted to say I started smoking e-cigs about two months ago and haven't smoked a cig since. Just wanted to tell yall of what my mod is because I honestly think it is the best setup you can get if you are trying to get into mech mods and rebuilding.. Here is what I would get if I were you (I have this exact setup)

2 Sony VCT5's 18650s
EHPro Nemesis clone (replaced spring fire with magnetic fire in the locking pin)
EHPro kayfun Lite Plus V2 running at 1.0 ohms 28g, organic cotton
Youde IGO-W - running doil coils at .3 ohms lolz 28g, organic cotton

Honestly I couldn't be happier with my purchases.. If you want to spend a good chunk of money to start getting into mechs/rebuildables this is what I would get. The kayfun is perfect for all the time use throughout the day and blows consistently milky clouds, with perfect drag out of the box.. just turn the airflow valve wide open (I left the screw in). The Youde IGO-W is the best beginners dripper, easy to build on and hits like a boss when you're trying to blow those huge clouds.. Once you have these I believe you will be satisfied for a long time.

I'd say the best mechanical mod for a beginner isn't. I don't think the words beginner and mechanical belong anywhere near each other, and I think anyone who is running around with sub ohm coils without having all the correct knowledge and ability to do it as safely as possible is just asking for trouble.

People have permanently maimed themselves doing stupid things with mechanicals, and I would bet most of them didn't have the knowledge base to even realize they were doing something stupid.

I meant beginners in terms of those trying to buy/build their first mods. It doesn't take much common sense to understand when there is something wrong with your mod that could be unsafe for the user. This brings light to what I don't understand, with proper technique and guidance it is not hard to build/run a mod that you know is safe. When it comes to people being injured I believe that is because they are pushing their equipment too far, i.e. they probably have a ....ty battery or didn't test their coil.

If you're wanting to get into mech mods and re-buildables you have to start somewhere, right? As long as you understand ohms law, have the proper tools and know how to use them to get the job done and know the limitations of your gear, you will be ok as long as you stay within those limitations.

It sounds like you have a very nice setup that works great for you. Congrats!

As a beginner I don't really want a mechanical mod, I'm quite happy with my MVP V2, and I've already ordered some rebuildables but have no intentions of getting into sub ohms , I'm quite comfortable in the 1.2 - 1.9 ohm range so that's what I'll be building as a newbie. I think even in that range I'll have a bit of flexibility with my builds and it will give me plenty of hands on experience before I decide I need something more powerful. I don't vape for the big clouds so that's not an issue for me, I do it to stay away from cigarettes, so I'm just wanting to do builds that will give me better flavor than tanks with 2 ohm coils can.

I understand what you are saying, but it could be read by an over enthusiastic beginner as "this is what I should rush out and buy" with no idea about the safety knowledge required, and in the beginners forum I'd rather jump first with the warnings. I hope you understand.

No insult intended, I've just seen kids locally running around with sub ohm mechanicals who don't know what a ohm is, and have no idea about how to care for and monitor their batteries properly, and have all their coils wrapped for them by someone else. Every day I see they still have all their fingers and face I'm impressed.

Imsoenthused. ..Who died from using a mech? Link please?

You are absolutely correct, I was under the impression the idiot who blew his face off died, but it seems he just blew his face off. Can't find anything other than reports of injuries ranging from minor to maiming, but no deaths so far, knock on wood. Edited my original post.

In your 'shopping list' there is no mention of a multimeter or some way to accurately measure resistance & battery voltage. :2c:
IMO this is one piece of equipment that should never be overlooked before using a mech or rebuildable's.

I think that all noobs can become a semi pro mech vapers within few days with help of ecf and youtube. That means that they can understand the risk and take all the precautions needed. So they get best batteries on market or suitable for their builds. Thats the most important thing! So i dont see any problem with that and its too bad that many spend so much money on crap vape gear and maybe quit vaping because of poor performance and other issues regarding low cost/junk atomizers and poor batteries.

As i said it before. Atomizer is most important part of ecig imo to get a great, satisfying vape, along with the good juice! Most of the great rdas are 20mm and more in size so vapers need a cheap - everlasting mechanical clone (with kick) or really expensive dna mod to get proper power for that kind of rdas. It is necessary to get the best vape at the moment!

Only to add to this ...It's not really relevant about the experience one has at vaping. The coil building and battery safety comes down to experience in electricity/electronics areas. To say a beginning vaper has no business with it is well not always correct. I've read and witnessed a lot of experienced vapers doing things that are very very questionable. In all honesty we've (some) have pushed this to the brink of safety.

NO matter what you do in life, it's always a good idea to learn about it and practice safe techniques.

I just bought my first mod yesterday. M16 mech mod and a Tobh Atty, Sony VTC4 batteries. Running dual coil at 0.2ohms. Really happy with it so far. Of course I did my due diligence, but being an audio engineer I have a lot of experience with all things electronic. I had been using an ego-c twist and a carto tank for the longest time. Really just got tired of buying cartos, they just don't make them like they used to. I can definitely see how someone with no experience and buying knock off stuff could potentially hurt themselves.

This is my thought exactly, it almost bothers me that when you go into a smoke shop and they tell you oh you're new you can't do this.. When in reality it is not hard at all to build a coil etc and do it right through simply asking questions and researching online.
