Can you explain what you mean by "tape up the end"? Also, have you used this with a USB wall or car adapter?

You should NOT use this on your computer since it draws to much power and can mess up your computer internally. Get a 2 amp (2000 mah) 5V wall adapter:

2 amp AC to USB Adapter, ideal for Passthroughs

As for a 2 amp 5V car adapter:

USB car adaptor 12 volt

As for your other question. She meant to tape the end of the passthrough where the wire comes out of it. Tugging motions while in use can cause the wire to pop out a little. Thus shorting out your passhthrough and rendering it useless.

Gotcha. Have you tried the 5V passthrough from MadVapes?

I just looked for the cheapest one I could find. You should get a manual one though 'cuz they hit a little harder. I got mine at Vapors ETC. two months ago and it's working fine. I plugged it into my pc's USB port for the first two weeks, until I heard that they have the potential to harm your pc. That's when I bought a 5v wall adapter to use with it.

I used passthroughs for about a year pretty solid. Never had an issue (other than a few cheapo China passthroughs that liked to run all by themselves, LOL). Always good practice to unplug them when you aren't vaping them too...

Get a usb plug that is rated 5v 1amp Amazon.com: Coby CA81 Dual USB Power Adapter/Charger (White): Everything Else.
Be aware if you buy a dual USB wall plug, it could only be rated at 500 ma each slot (500ma x 2 outlets = 1amp) so get a single if you can, or get a 2amp dual.

BD - At home I always put the usb plug into a good protected strip, not directly into a wall. Wall plugs for passthroughs is the way to go. Why risk a usb port on a computer?

Great little inexpensive passthrough but it is 5v and be sure to tape up the end so that it doesn't short out. This passthrough has voltage protection so it shouldn't harm your computer.

5 VOLT USB PASS THROUGH (REQUIRES SUFFICIENT POWER SOURCE)

I got that PT from the link posted at electronicstix (.com) and it didn't last two days of light use. I had it plugged into a 2amp wall connector as instructed. The PT was very cheaply made. The box has warnings that it could start a fire, not to leave it plugged in and there were no instructions in the box. I got an Ego PT with an inline battery and it works as advertised with no problems. With an inline battery it also functions as a regular PV when unplugged.
