Hey giantfan

I still get tripped up on some of the terms used. When you say your looking for dip are you speaking of the moist, coarse American style tobacco such as Copenhagen, Skoal, Kodiak and such?

I can't speak for the freshness of the dip but snus I've purchased from Northerner has been fine. The dip Northerner carries is all shipped from their warehouse in the US.

The Northerner, US Long Cut Snus

My first order of snus from get snus was sent on the slow truck of waiting.

I called and spoke with them and I have fresh cans uspsed now.. Northerner is a day or so later on the us side. Now from Sweden its about 14 calender days and is not shabby freshness wise.

Soo that being said I have stocked my freezer to the point of having no more room.
5 cans each julesnus and nordstrommen.
5 cans of Oden's Kanel es. los
2 cans oden portion.
3 cans probe portion
4 cans probe los
2 cans skruff cranberry
2 cans Claq qui
1 can general es portion.
2 cans Onyx
2 cans oden es los.
1 can gotland rape 1 and 2.

Those are my reserve cans.

Now what I cycle through
1 can roda lacket los
1 can oden es and kanel los and portion
1 can skruff cranberry
1 can julesnus
1 can probe portion
1 can general es
1 can claq qui
1 can lab 1 and 2

Do keep in mind that snus is not dip. No one here dips, as far as I know. BAD stuff. Get snus from northerner.com, getsnus.com or buysnus.com.

There are others also, but these three have served me well for the past four years.
Nope no dippers here!! Drippers yes!!...Snus and snuff(and e-cigs)Much healthier alternatives to that nasty dip!!....On a note to the OP....at least try a snus, alot of "former" dippers have made the switch...it may work for you as well!!:)The Wiz!

No, I want American dip. It's comparable to snus nowadays anyway. The manufacturers have changed their methods.
American Dip is in no way close to Swedish snus, the process from the cut leaves to the can are completely different. Dip is fire cured then fermented, Snus is air cured then steam pasteurized. American dippers lead the world for mouth cancer and other problems, Swedish snussers lead the world on LACK OF the same problems. So it's your mouth, good luck.

Giant sorry to disagree with you on that.

I have known several people develop pre cancer, toothloss and receeding gums due to dip.

I have a pocket in my lower lip and retracted lower right side gums on the bottom from the dip. Roughly the same amount of use and time I have been snusing..
Not so with snus.

BD....That is an excellent comparison/reference between these two very different tobbacco products.I have seen fist hand what prolonged use of "dip" can do to a mouth...not to mention the other dangers it presents!! Thanks for posting this!:)The Wiz!

It does depend on the dip the level of severity.

I have a friend from high school from almost 20 years ago, we both started chewing at the same time.
I ran into him today and he was giving me hell for snus, he showed me the dental plate and false teeth on the bottoms he is now sporting due to the dip and also the biopsy scar on the other side from a cancerous nodule that was removed a year ago. Yet he had a fat load of cope in I did offer him a pris of roda lacket los instead of cope but he wasnt having any of the no spit junk. (his words not mine)

I found out from his GF that he also is sporting some very severe stomach ulcers and has a possible spot or half dozen of throat cancer due to swallowing the juice.

Gee, a small price for so much in return. As I understand it, the dip can give a faster nic hit and that's why some have trouble or look down their noses at snus. I can understand from that point, but, just like a smoker, where do we draw a line and say enough?

American smokeless is indeed low risk, especially nowadays. I spent quite a bit of time in the Army with guys that had been dipping 20 years plus. Most of them had about zero mouth problems. Only the occasional guy I knew had problems, and that was probably because they never took care of their teeth in the first place. I have been dipping for about 6 years, and I have no problems. My teeth are white, and the gums are normal. However, the tissue in my lower lip has changed because of me holding something in there.
