So i bought my mini a long time ago, but only used it occasionally because I was still smoking a lot of analogs. Now I'm ready to give up analogs for good, so I want to get the best setup for my Reo.

I used to use atomizers, but found those to be messy as I was always getting juice flowing back into the drip cup. I switched to cartomizers and so far I love them, way less mobile and can store extra juice inside them. So I will probably stick to cartos, but what are the advantages of a plain atomizer?

Also.. what difference does the resistance make to the vape? What is the optimal PG/VG ratio? What are the best juice flavors? What kind of drip tip is the best?

Lots of questions I know, but I would love to hear some people's opinions on this and learn from their experience.

 Hi NickFitt :)
So the old atty vs carto question basically comes down to personal preference. I am strictly an atty user....I like the flavor and the immediate feedback I get out of it. I always know how much juice is in there and can tell just how much to add in order to make me happy. I also like the longevity I get from an atty. For me the carto is more of a short lived enigma. BUT, you will find many folks around here who would respectfully disagree.

Resistance plays a delicate balancing act with the amount of power applied to the atty or carto. Since I don't use cartos I can't speak to them...but on my minis (with the AW IMR 14500 battery) I prefer to use 1.5Ω atties for my tobacco flavored juices and 2.0Ω for my sweets. The lower resistance or Ω atties will run hotter, thus giving you more throat hit but could potentially "over cook" the sweeter juices, rendering them a bit less flavorful. Again, this ends up being a personal preference thing. You will find that different resistances will bring out different flavors in the same juice. Unfortunately, we can't tell you what you will end up liking. If you enjoy the throat hit, then I would suggest starting on the low end @ 1.5Ω. (be aware that menthol, tobacco, mint, and cinnamon flavors will give you more TH, but that is more of the juice aspect)

Many folks seem to like the 50/50 ratio. But you will want to experiment. I'm strictly a 100%VG gal, so I won't be able to give you much advise here. TH is more often associated (in juice) with PG heavy juices. But higher nicotine levels and certain flavorings (mentioned above) will also play a part. I get plenty of TH from my juices.

Drip tips...again...it's a preference thing. I like glass drip tips regardless of whether I'm using a 510, 306, or hybrid atty. I like the glass because it doesn't transfer heat and it seems to bring out a cleaner flavor. It could just be my imagination, I'll admit, but that's my impression. The cool factor plays a part in that as well. Others like the plastic for the cost effectiveness, the wide color assortment, and it also doesn't transfer heat. The metal tips are great, but some will transfer heat. Some folks don't feel comfortable putting he metal in their mouths. And lastly, there are ceramic tips....but I've never used one or seen one in person, so I don't know much about them. I am guessing they don't transfer heat either.

Anyway...these are just my thoughts on your questions...you'll get lots of answers...and many of them will be different. There really isn't one best way....it all ends up being a trial & error thing until you find your sweet spot. I hope you find some of this useful

And congratulations on your good start! 3 days will soon turn into 3 months! :) Keep asking questions!

Awesome, thanks for all the information! Think I'll stick to cartos when I'm on the go and try atty's when I'm at home. What I really need is a few more reos so I can have one for home, one for the car, one for work, etc...

My go-to juice at the moment is a lovely peppermint, but I'm going to order some less sweet juices so I'll definitely try some lower resistance cartos. Don't want to burn the filler though I did that a few times and it's disgusting. I do like a good throat hit, it reminds me of the feeling I got from analogs, but a nice smooth hit sounds nice too so maybe I'll transition to higher VG over time.

I agree with Lisa! She did a great job with her help!

Remember the increasing VG will give you more vapor but it does tend to mute the taste. I do DIY and add 20% flavor to 100% VG.

The blind squonking on the cartos and atty's works well to keep them wet and not burnt. It is easy to master and the results are a great vape!

Glad you are getting back to vaping!

Great I'm going to order a bunch of stuff this weekend so I'll try out some different resistance carts and a bunch of new flavors. So far I'm loving the vaping using my old cartos, no idea what their resitance is though, and not missing the analogs too much. The big test will be tomorrow night when I go out drinking...I plan to bring an extra battery and just stay glued to the reo all night. Luckily most of my friends are non-smokers.

I think I've read that high VG juices can cause clogging problems or shorten the life of cartos, any of you high-VG users experience those problems?

Oh that reminds me....keep in mind that your new found sense of taste & smell will continue to develop over the course of months. So somethings that you like now you may not like later and vice versa.. It may not be an issue for you, everyone is different. :)
I agree- and the smelling part- I never noticed the cat's litter box needing changing until I quit smoking and started vaping....peeyew!! Now, I'm usually the first one to get on it and change it. One of the down-sides of vaping.. LOL

Those trippy tips look really cool I'm gonna have to get one. Right now I'm using a plain plastic drip tip, but I like it because sometimes i'll pull it out with my teeth and then hold it between my fingers like I used to hold analogs. It has the same feel and weight so it really seems to scratch an itch in my brain somewhere.

Anyways thanks everyone for the input! I've saved a bit of money already so I don't feel bad about buying a whole bunch of different supplies and seeing what works best for me, and now I have a lot of great ideas for what to try.

I put a IKV 1.5 mini/shorty 801 on my mini REO(with adapter) with Ecopure Krystal 36 mg(unflavored). I'm a nic junkie and this works for me very well. I straight dropped analogs and chew with this combo, no problem. Wouldn't even think about smoking a cig or taking a dip now.

Unflavored good stuff = awesome. Doesn't clog expensive atties. Doesn't smell. Tastes good! Big clouds and with 36mg nic has plenty of throat hit. I won't be changing juice unless they stop making it. Not from China. That may not mean much realistically but it makes me feel good when it comes to ingestibles.

IKV= good stuff. They just work really well.

801 = can hold a lot of juice for long runs between squonks. Hard to flood. Can drain and fill/overflow well. Avoidable with about two days practice.

Don't know about cartos on a REO. I tossed those out with the cig lookalike kits. Burned polyfill is just teh sux.

I'm sure there are other great setups but that's what works for me.
