The best advice that I can give you is to go on a bit of an exploration and buy a few different items to try. With the low cost of a lot of these products, you can afford "a trial" with each. You will find that your answer will differ from others based on you. There are some products that do get repeatedly suggested and there is a high likelihood that they are good products but that doesn't really mean you will like them. I would start with the toppers but that seems to be your question. So, look for a buy:

* top coil
* bottom coil
* a cartomizer
* A plastic tank of both top and bottom
* A glass tank of both top and bottom

Once you see what your preference is, then you can move to batteries which in my opinion is easier but more costly.

* a standard eGo
* a "Spinner"
* a variable voltage or variable wattage (or both) apv

Once you have that down, you can try a mech mod, a regulated mod, a dripper, an RBA/RDA based on your preferences.

That way, you have tried the standard stuff and make a more educated decision on what you prefer once you get to the higher priced items..........even though I don't think that some of the RBA/RDA/drippers are all that much.

EDIT: Juice preference (flavors, % of pg/vg) also plays into this

I'll go ahead and ask these questions so you don't get bombarded with any outlandish recommendations and the forum members can take into consideration your preferences:

What is your current battery that you are using (style and mah)?
What is your budget?
What is your preferred style of vaping (top coil vs. bottom coil)?
Do you have any interest in learning how to build coils?
Do you want a device that you can change your power or do you want a constant voltage that isn't adjustable?
How quick do you need a new setup (for shipping advice)?
What form factor do you like most (cig-a-like, ego, box, tube)?
Are you a heavy vaper or do you just do it every now and then throughout the day (battery life recommendations)?

There are very few recommendations that we can give you that you should not take with a pinch of salt. About the only one is that anything you should buy should have a 510 connector, or eGo maybe. Anything else and you will cut down your options by 99%.

I would always recommend the Protank II, but some people hate them. I hate top-coils.
Definitely experiment with a spinner/twist battery and various coil resistances. If you like them, consider getting a VV/VW mod.
If you find yourself vaping something with a removable drip-tip, try a glass one.
Try fruit and desert flavours.

I started out with a G6 Halo kit, the variety that is small and looks very similar to a real cigarette. I then tried out an ego/510 style kit from EonSmoke, 650 mah battery with G2-H2 style clearomizer, basically a plastic bottom filling tank. It was very cheap in price, and unique in look, I liked the fact that it lit up at the bottom similar to the smaller "cig a likes" that look more like a real cigarette. With a coupon it was $20 w/free shipping. I had seen a review on Youtube and the idea of saving on e-liquids as well as not continually having to change cartomizers (the e-liquid filled cartridge that screws on an e cig and looks like the filter). I then jumped in with both feet and bought an Innokin Cool Fire 2 for a great deal, because I like the way it looked, the reviews it received, and the idea of being able to replace the batteries, adjust the watts, and again, because it was just too darn cool! Right about then I went on a spending spree, (thank God for tax time, ha ha), and I bough a generic ego style battery with led that changed colors, variable voltage/wattage, puff count, etc, all the bells and whistle of an expensive mod. One of the basic differences in ego/510 style batteries versus the smaller cig a likes, besides bigger batteries, is the threads are different and there are more options as far as tanks, and accessories go. I bought a lot of different tanks and a few more batteries/mods, and was lucky enough to discover Kanger Tech and Innokin. For me I have found Kangertech to make the best tanks, and Innokin makes excellent mods, but I have found their tank quality not to be as solid as Kanger's.

Now at this point I bought another little cheap new starter kit that Eonsmoke had just come out with, that was basically the newer Evod style battery at 900 mah with MT3 style tank. I really liked the improved recessed button, and look of the tank but where I was REALLY impressed was when I filled it up and in under 5 minutes later I was on my way to vaping heaven! I was sold on the newer Evod style right then and there! Don't get me wrong, I LOVE my mods, and having options, and my Kanger aerotank performs solidly as well as my Kanger Protank! However, all that aside, if I would have purchased a Kanger Evod starter kit, with two batts, 5 replacement coils and charger, which a lot of sellers have right now for between $36 and $40, I would have saved myself A LOT of money, time and trouble! I could have bypassed the cig a likes all together as the Evod's size is perfect to me, not too small or big, and easy to stash in a pocket and take about. The batteries last longer, the tanks don't leak, and perform outstanding, even after vaping on them NON STOP! Even though I'd been vaping for about 3 weeks prior to trying it out, I loved that it was very low maintenance and you can be up and vaping in less then 10 min, with great flavor, and have a backup battery to spare, for less then $50. With the replacement coils you should be set for a while too, depending upon what types of juices you like, but my coils have held up fantastic despite the darker, caramel and sugary, VG typle blends I vape in it! There is a thread on this forum called "The best starter kit ever", I believe that will provide you with a lot of information on this type of kit, sellers and a lot of opinions. Vape Dojo even had a Kanger Evod Starter kit that came with the 2 batts, charger, coils AND a dripper, but is currently sold out! I put in am currently waiting for a few more orders of Evod kits from some different sellers because I didn't want to wait, but will purchase one when they come in stock. Even for someone who has already gotten the hang of vaping I think these are great because of how well they work, ease of use, portability and great value! They're perfect to pass on also if and when you decide to go for bigger and better toys, which I started off backwards kind of ha ha, or just keep in your rotation for backup, different settings, or for friends to try out! This has been my experience anyways. I've since went through all the cheap tanks I had gotten for trying things out, that leaked, performed poorly, caused dry hits etc. and I just use my Kanger aerotank, Evod, and Smokteck dripper I got since the Joye 510 dripper I wanted has been sold out EVERYWHERE! At some point you should consider a dripper IMHO, they really are worth all the fuss, inexpensive depending on brand, are easy to use and produce FANTASTIC flavor! Perfect for trying out new juices. You can pick one up for less then $8 bucks bringing your total around $50 tops with a Kanger Evod starter kit. Good luck and I hope you really do give it a try!

If you vape heavily you should get the mvp 2. It's 2600mah so battery life will not be a worry for you. You can get the energy version which you can get in different styles. I have one on camo. It's vv and vw, the voltage ranges from 3 to 6 volts and the wattage goes from 6 to 11 watts. Any tank will fit on it since it includes a ring to attach to the threads to hide the naked threads when attaching something like a pro tank. Oh and did I mention it also is a portable battery? Yea you can charge your phone or any electronic device off of it. You can get it for as low as $40 so it's not too expensive. They're better options but if your beginning vaping this is a must buy!

I agree with the post above, regarding the Innokin MVP 2.0. I have one also--Energy edition, in Hunter--that I love. Regardless of if you're chain vaping or vaping heavily, it'll last you all day. I got mine on eBay for $40 (which is a VERY good deal on this).

My favorite tanks these days are the Aspire Nautilus (if you're looking for an adjustable airflow--which I recommend), or the Kanger Mini Protank 2 (if you're looking for something less expensive or more basic), however, both of these are bottom coiled.

The voltage is actually from 3.3V-5.0V I think, but yes, this is a great battery. I have one and love it.

I was 1 of the lucky few that got a MVP 2 for the cheapest price ever. Thanks to whoever posted that link to a 1 day sale.
At the price I paid, $29.92 total, w/free shipping I couldn't pass it up. Shoulda' bought 2. Ha.

It has now become my favorite PV & replaced a Vamo V2 SS which has worked perfectly for over a year. Still a great unit BTW.
I really like the function & feel of the MVP 2 even though I wasn't sure I'd like a box style.
It is so different compared to the Vamo but feels so much smaller & lighter. Doesn't slip like the Vamo.

I would recommend the MVP 2 in a heartbeat. The battery lasts me over 3 days until a charge is needed. YMMV.
Very well built & doesn't roll around like a tube model.

Hope that helps & good luck to you.

I'm new to vaping. I smoked for 8 years about a pack a day and have been tobacco free for 17 days and counting :) my question is what setup would you recommend? I'm currently using t2 tanks

imho?!

Nemesis clone + kick clone + kayfun 3.1 clone + nano kit + hybrid connector + 2x efest 18350 batteries + nitecore i4 charger + organic cotton + kanthal awg28 or 29 wire 25m. About 100$ for all. Everything except batteries, cotton and wire is available on fasttech.com

This is powerful, sleek, really small all day vape machine!!!

Yeah its "expensive" (count the price of cigarettes, which are disposable btw) and all new stuff for a beginner, but in these days with youtube and help from ecig forum, you can become semi pro in few days. Micro coil tutrorial, organic cotton and safe IMR batteries. Lower the resistance of the coil, more current will flow and could damage the batteries. Efests are good for 5-6 Amps, not more and for coils around 0.6 ohm and more. I = u / r After every build, check the resistance!!!!

This setup could last you years :) Only batteries, wire and cotton are disposables!

OR

you will go for option 2, slower one and more expensive, buy twist/spinner vv (variable voltage) 1300 mah and kanger aerotank with spare heads and vape away. You are gonna need a backup?! After few days you should see some leakage from tank and maybe odd flavor or no airflow, but that is just a design flaw in kanger and similar coil heads... Then after a month you would become interested in mech and rba/rda and spend some more money to get them.. So

Check Rip Trippers, pbusardo, grimmgreen on youtube ;)

BTW, That sale was from Complete Vapes. It might be worth setting up to get emails from them in case they ever have another great sale.

For toppers I have only tried PT 2, PT Mini 2, various worthless top coils & my mostly go to trusty Evod's for the OK for plastic liquids.
I also believe everyone should have a dripper of some sort to test flavors without filling up a Clearo or tank.

I have a couple 306 atomizers that have lasted months.

With this setup above, you will get supreme vapor (of course only with good ejuice) and that is what is really the most important thing after quitting smoking and enjoying vaping! :vapor:

And yeah. Clones... Problem is that most authentic device are really expensive/overpriced and simple in design and therefor are simple to be cloned... Here is the problem. I dont mind to spend double the money for authentic product or a lot of money for a complex rda/rba with special materials etc.. but i wont pay 5x or even more the price for the same metal tube with better etching and a certificate/serial number listing... LOL

I'm going to have to respectfully disagree! I was lucky enough to pick up a few Kanger Aerotanks when I first started getting into vaping, and then later on some Evod MT3's. While the Aerotanks have NEVER leaked on me after close to 2 month of non-stop vaping, the Evod's have but rarely at that! I'd also just like to say that "cloud chasing" and more complicated APV's as well as mech mods don't necessarily appeal to ALL who get into vaping, or even experienced vaporers. Even some of the guys you've mentioned on Youtube will tell you that and that dude from Indoor Smoker's, can't think of his name right now, but they'll tell you that a lot of money and complicated stuff won't necessarily get you any better of a vape.

I personally have YET to regret ANY of my vaping purchases, not even my 808 cig a like batts, as I use ALL of my gear for one application or another. Besides that I'll be happy to pass my gear along to someone who could get some use out of them if and when I grow out of something and it's still in good working order. Better to start "smaller" or at an intermediate level at least to make sure you're going to like it and stick with it, then to go ALL OUT from the gate only to find it's not for you or you can't for some reason or another.
I've found that over the first couple of months being new to vaping, I went through a lot of different feelings and thought processes before settling down on course of action that I feel good about and am happy to be taking. I also am glad that I have the basics down, and a good foundation of experience to build on as well.

Just my humble opinions...

I agree, I have never had a single leak in the past month of using my Aerotank and I actually much prefer it over my Nautilus. The Aerotank is the best standard tank system I have ever used. However, I have 4 T3S's and they all leak constantly. But you get what you pay for, at only $5 or less a piece they are decent for the price...

and why not my two cents worth.......

in my short while as a vapor.... I sometimes thought I would need a change, explored different options and such, different wicks, different hardware...........

the single biggest thing I have found to increase and maintain my vaping pleasure is a coil that is not gummed up and that I can draw vape through....... keep your coil clean and burning bright.......all I have to say
