Your "concerns" are vastly less likely than a pre made coil head. As Ninja said, we aren't being jerks here, we are trying to help. Put it this way, if rta's weren't such a good idea they wouldn't exist as they do and we certainly wouldn't be recommending them!

The Griffin deck is about as easy to build on as any deck I have owned. You could build that in under 5 mins and re-wick once a week in just a couple of mins. So much better than a pre made coil head and so much simpler too. It's a win win situation if you ask me.

Northern NJ native , Coastal NC now.
Herb, These are identical to a STM except for the top, correct? Same base and glass?

Actually the base is a little different , slightly less thick and the Top tank has improved airflow but the rest seems to be the same .

I have not taken the glass off yet but it may hold a ml or two less than the Subtank , the RBA deck has smaller holes but works well and the included coils are round not square . They work great

I'll do some research. Again my main problem last time was with wicking. I love my cleito 120 because it wicks like a beast.

I was thinking RDA but I've never been a fan of dripping(always used cargo tanks with massive slots).

I'll look into it.

And if I use an RTA I could not screw my lock ring down tight enough and my batteries could vent in my pocket, my coils could still short the battery, I could have a faulty charger and my battery could overcharge...

What do you mean by not being able to screw down the locking ring far enough when using an RTA? Sounds like a faulty mech to me. A clearomizer wouldn't be any better in that regard.

I guess I could give it a try again. Recommend me some RTAs that are easy to build on and wick high/max VG juices well and I'll look into it. My plan was to get back into this and make sure I stick with it before I tried rebuildables again.

It would help with some information on your vaping preferences. Do you vape mouth to lung, direct to lung, high wattage, low wattage and so on. Personally my current favourites are the Aromamizer Supreme and the Ijoy Limitless series. I'm also fond of the Wotofo Sapor, and the Obs Engine looks compelling. They're all dual coil RTAs though, and would not be suited for low wattage vapers.

Direct lung. I meant using a mech without a recessed button and forgetting to lock it and having it fire in your pocket/bag constantly.

I'll try an RTA. I've seen enough flack on this to give it another go. I just still don't see the fuss about using a pre built coil on a mech mod if you're using good batteries, a good charger, check your ohms before using the coil before each fill, and know enough about ohms law to know you're batteries amperage rating and using a coil that can handle it(and not trying to push it). I'm currently using a kanger tank that is drawing 6.77 amps at .62 ohms on a battery that is rated for 25 amps. I don't see the problem here.

I'm going to look into RTAs. I would probably be able to get a .8ohm easier with one anyway(everything I've found is .5 or .6).

Also as I said before I have a Koopor plus with a cleito 120 on it and a nemesis clone with a kanger sub(it read .62 ohms)and I would take the nemesis with the kanger(even though I don't particularly enjoy this tank)any day.

The cleito is great. Tons of flavor, clouds for days...I just prefer the mech mod. I'll go for an RTA when I get paid tomorrow. I would prefer going this route over a regulated mod.

I don't know why but it is just a way more enjoyable vape for me.

Next I'm going to try to get my hands on an Alpha in silver vein(if they aren't going for an insane amount of money at this point).

Its more about the cheap, soft, super thin insulators, and the design of the coil heads.
They tear very easily.
The coil legs are just pinched between a rubber gasket and the side of the coil head.
On a regulated device it just shows an error or tells you to check the atty.
On a mech it can be a totally different ballgame.

Why exactly do you want a mech?
It sounds like you would be much happier with a regulated device.

I have a koopor plus. I ordered a nemesis clone when I first wanted to start vaping and bought the kooper the next day because I was impatient. I have owned a ton of mech mods and just prefer them.

The only regulated device I ever consistently vaped on was my buzz pro but always went back to a mech for some reason.

I haven't touched the koopor since the nemesis arrived.

Keep in mind premade coils are available cheap and in many styles and resistance.
These make rebuilding an RTA as easy as replacing a coil head, and take less time to replace than a battery in a Nemesis.

No need to stress over building.
