"Throat Hit" as a general term reminds me of an old Andrew Dice Clay bit wherein he said, "People ask me why I smoke so much...?(inhale)...For the damage." Throat hit makes you feel like you're doing some damage, and really, it's up to debate why we need that.

Good point. I guess it is to recreate the analog feel more. Several things contribute besides optimally primed hardware. PG itself, no nic, will give me a TH because PG irritates my throat, and the more I vape it the bigger the TH...because of the "damage". I don't need that. Since I use only VG juices now, TH is a way for me to tell if I'm getting significant nic right away. Sort of a gauge. But then there is something nice about that burn, like oh yeah I got some that time. Since analogs, unlike the NRTs, work perfectly every time for getting nic, its the internal meter than says how close to that efficiency I am with the vape. Of course, we also know that absorption and and general delivery are not like an analog, so this pursuit of the best TH is likely just holding on to the illusion of analog delivery. In general, if there is no TH I will probably just keep vaping. If I do that with every hit being a strong TH, then I know I will be truly buzzed in a few minutes, and not always pleasantly so.

Your ignorance is forgiven. A basic anatomy lesson: Inhale through your mouth and breathe straight into your lungs = immediate nicotine absorption into your blood stream (via the lungs).

If you French inhale and only hold the vapor in your mouth without letting it go into your lungs first, then blow it out and inhale back through your nose, well then you're just wasting time. In case you didn't know, your nose is not connected to your brain, it just goes back down your throat and into your lungs...that's a fancy explanation for...tada!...breathing through your nose!

A French inhale is just a cool trick to watch someone do. It actually delays the nicotine absorption.

Actually Heckler is correct...

The Ofactory Mucosa is in direct contact with the brain via cerebral spinal fluid... This allows nicotine to readily cross into the brain. It has been casually dubbed the node-brain pathway and is a great (if under utilized) route for medication administration also.

As far as TH goes, I've had good luck puffing once or twice like a pipe to build up a good bit of vapor prior to inhaling. I've also notice quite a bit of difference amongst flavors. RY-4 seems to give good TH for me, 555 a bit less, and cappuccino gives practically nothing. All are 18mg PG juices from the same vendor...

Is this why I've seen some say that smell is the sense most closely associated with memory recall?
