Hey everyone! Ive been recently looking into upgrading my Kanger Sub-mini setup to something a little more sophisticated. I really want to start experimenting with temp control with the more advanced builds i have been doing. My question to the all knowing populous of ECF is what are some of the best temp control mods out there?

As always, thank you so much <3

There are many 'good' ones, "best" is mostly subject to opinion.

On the 'low' end there's the istick TC40 in the middle there's a multitude of devices costing anywhere between $50-125 and then on the other end is the SXminiM.

So the questions become: do you want internal, single or dual battery?
Do you want support for Ni, Ni&Ti or adjustable for any wire?
How much do you want to spend?

Answer the questions above and you'll find the answer to what is the "best TC mod" for you at the moment is.

Thank you for the quick replies! Also, thank you for being thorough, as I was not (i was in a rush to get out the door to go to work).

I don't want to spend more than $150. I prefer a married, dual battery unit. I don't mind if it only takes a certain material coil, but I do want the temp control to be very accurate. I heard some units are very off.

    Isn't personal opinion great?
To bad GG didn't listen. The IPV4 issue was not the Side screw, it was the overly tight 510 to charge Board gap. Also stopped production and Revised, but no mention or update. IPV4S
Port is Round, not 9v. Round ports Are less susceptible to to damage than Micro USB(FACT) Round Ports are Not restricted by Patented USB restrictions.
*No, I don't own one - Just a fact. To large for my hand.
Cover bending out............or getting stretch in both hands? Simple enough to pinch and back to new.
GG is getting squirlier by the day.
    Fun guy to watch though.

Dry Hit has become the Selling Point of TC. I suppose they had to come up with something that would appeal to new Vapor to push TC to the front.

My Purpose for TC, and I own 2:
    Consistent, Controlled, repeatable vapes.
Same every time whether a 4 second or 10 second draw.
    Bonus: Dry Hit Avoidance

I have the Eleaf 40w TC and I see two problems with the Eleaf. One, no Ti mode for Titanium Coils, and two, battery charge life. In TC mode the Eleaf 40w TC gets approximately 6-10 hours of charge depending on how much you vape on it. Not very good battery life. This would not be the problem that it is if you could pull the battery out and put in a fresh one. No can do though.

My second TC mod I own I would highly recommend to others. I have the IPV4s 120w. Dual battery (changeable), Ni and Ti mode, though a bit more hefty than I was used to I can chalk that up to stout construction of the product and dual battery enclosure. This beast has been lasting me 1 1/2 to 2 days of battery charge. I'm using a Uwell Crown with RBA built with Ti coil. I am really enjoying this unit.......

Thank you very much to you and everyone else who has contributed to this lovely conversation. I think I'm going to be shooting for the sub 120-200 range. I doubt I'll ever use 200W for any of the builds I like to make, but you never know ;). I'll be researching these thoroughly. Thanks again and happy vaping everyone

The IPV D2 is fantastic. It's a new 75w Temp Control Mod. I love it. I got mine with a blacked out 7ml Subtank Plus.

Currently on .15 Ohms @ 38J and 430F. The flavor and clouds are out of this world.

I actually own both. (TC40 and IPV4S) The 4S with LG 3000 batteries is the ONLY APV I own that will last me ALL day long no matter how much I use it. The TC40 lasts about as long as my single 18650 mods do. (which is never long enough, I always have to juggle two mods or switch batteries at some point)

So which one(s) do I normally bring with me to get me to/from work? Its a toss up between the TC40 and SXminiM. The IPV4S is to large to carry in the same pocket as my cell phone and seems much heavier than the miniM, so the TC40 gets the nod most days.

Having TI functionality built in is a bonus but I find using both types of TC coils to be somewhat of a PITA as your ether switching Ti/Ni settings or compensating (or forgetting ether) when changing tanks/flavors.

IMHO: A STM mounted on the TC40 is an awesome portable TC rig that may not last all day but is less than 1/2 the size+weight of a IPV4S.

Then again, it depends on what the OP is looking for and how much they want to spend.

Oh don't get me wrong, I really do like the Eleaf 40w TC. Just like it's predecessor it is a good looking and easy to use Mod. I really do like it. If it had just a little more power it would be ideal for most people. Most of the time it would get you through a 8 hour day. After all, I'm sure you have to work a bit while at work. The IPV4s is not a problem for me at work. My work is a Vape Shop. It's almost a requirement to Vape big.......lol
