Hi, I've checked on the forums for this and can't seem to find it - please excuse me if I'm repeating someone else's post!

I have a few empty bottles of e-liquid piling up here, and I'm wondering what to do with them. Given that the nicotine is so toxic (they're from 18mg liquid), I guess it's not a good idea to rinse them out and send it into the water supply - or is it a negligible amount? I would normally recycle glass, but even if I don't rinse them out, that'll happen at the recycling plant at some stage or other as they get broken down...

Is the best solution to leave them sealed and bin them for landfill, where at least the nicotine hopefully won't leak out? Or am I being really, really stupid, and it's just fine to rinse them and send them to recycling?

Thanks,
PF:sleep:

Hi, Peachfish - no kidding, but you might want to hold onto your empty bottles for a while. You might get into mixing, and you'll need something to hold your trial batches in. Also, if you vape high, you might be mixing high unflavored with regular unflavored until we get the 36-mg mess straightened out. (That's just my preference, of course.)

Thanks guys. I take it then, that I'm being over-cautious, and the residue in an empty bottle is not enough to kill all the local fish when rinsed out into my sink?!

It's no different than the nicotine content in common vegetables auch as tomatoes and potatoes when rinsed in your sink or the peels put in the garbage dispossal. :D

Peach, Pour the water you use to rinse out your bottles in a large bucket add a drop or 3 of dish liquid and spray on your plants that have a bug problem. Nicotine is used to get rid of bugs and the soap helps it cling to the plants. When watered down like that, it doesn't do more then give the bugs a bad headache. All the gardening groups soak cigarettes in water for the same effect.
Then you have clean bottles to do your experiments in.
