Thank you for the laugh, Switched!

I just mentioned in another thread, my recent experience where running some PG through a clogged carto seemed to thin out the problem and extend the usable life. I've done the same with atties (a delightful discovery, as I procrastinate cleaning in general, whether it be a dirty floor that needs it, or vape equipment).

The juices I use are anywhere from 50/50% to (I'm guessing) 80/20 in the case of pre-mixed. Unless DeKang is 100% PG - I have very little DK juice, only bought it to refill a couple 808 cartos whose prefilled flavors I liked. I prefer to support USA workers wherever possible, but I can be tempted to the dark side when my mouth rules my head... which is often, as those who know me in RL can attest, LOL!

Much appreciated Vapor... My own liquids are not a problem with the exception of one flavouring that I used to use (Levy RY4). This particular flavouring is an atty killer. The CT from Bluemist has a nice consistency, unfortunately too viscous just the same. This particular carto bit the dust early on, and no amount of PG would have helped solve this particular problem. Knowing what one does wrong helps Isaac in the evaluating process. Isaac and I have exchanged much with regards to VG liquids and cartos. When cartos where originally invented, VG wasn't around perse.

Does this mean we cannot use cartos with VG? No, not IMO but we should not expect a carto to last as long that is all. Some folks are getting 6-8 weeks out of a carto. Hey that is absolutely fabulous and a rarity. Cartos were designed with one time use in mind. Isaac has developed a line to increase not only their performance but their longevity as well. How long should these things last? Many would like to see 4-6 months. Let's be realistic that ain't about to happen. We do get the odd fluke that is a top performer with a long life, this also happens with atties as well. Should we expect the same long life out of all of them? That is questionable, many would say yes., but that is simply not being realistic IMO. OTOH there are cheaply made and priced equipment out there, the delta between hit and miss of those is rather large.

No I am quite happy with this carto. The BB menthol is still performing extremely well, with "my" liquid. Do I endorse this atty? Absolutely! Knowing why something failed is key. As a BETA tester I just gave it a whirl with a liquid that is out there and that other vapers might use. It didn't passed the litmus test. Does it make it a bad product? No, it just didn't work in this instance with that particular liquid. Could it be the carto itself? I had a 50/50 chance of selecting one or the other so I don't know. OTOH the common denominator was the liquid, something I have known and perpetrated for some time, well ever since my forced switch to all VG liquids. That being said, I have had great success using this particular liquid in other cartos. After the post mortem I can see why it failed with the particular liquid. In the future I will not vape the design with Caramel Tobacco :)

In closing not all liquids are created equal and IMO it is up to every individual to find the perfect match for each piece of equipment. Will I vape a 2Ohm 901 with Caramel Tobacco from Bluemist again? Absolutely, every day of the week and 3 times on Sunday. Why? Because the purity of the flavour vaped on this particular cartomizer is worth the expense :) The Rustica nuances it delivered was pure bliss, while it lasted. Longevity is overrated at times - OTOH full flavour is hard to achieve in a carto. This carto still gets

Agreed, the build quality of the equipment is only one factor; the chemistry put into it must be the largest single variable, and you are the leader on that experimentation curve, so we're all in your debt, Switched. The effects of citric-sour chemistry on the clear CE2 tubes may be the most dramatic example of how much juice matters.

Isaac's products are simply built better - for that reason he's pretty much got a lock on my future carto and atty budget. Mama taught me: quality lasts, and is worth paying for. The amazing life of my first two DT 510 Gold V2s demonstrates it. I've got an 801 fusion that's lasting incredibly well, too. But even better - I like the flavor performance of these cartos more than dripping (even on Isaac's atties)! That's hard to understand, I don't know how it can be, but there you have it. Speaks for itself. 4-6 months for a carto seems inconceivable - but even 4-6 weeks is pretty amazing when you think about it.

I can't wait to get my mitts on these new 901 cartos and do some side-by-side comparisons.

Okay guys, here is my review of the 901 cartomizer! Actually, I would not call it a review but instead a paragraph of unorganized jumbled thoughts and opinions.

Upon unearting the cold metallic body of the 901 from its plastic sheath, I was very surprised at how shiny it was :) To me it looks more like an atomizer than anything else. At first glance it appeared to be much smaller than the average 510 cartomizer, but upon closer inspection it is only shorter. The filling looks more fluffy and dense, and when filled resembles a slushy from 7-11. It's capacity seems to be about the same as other cartos - around 25-30 drops. When filling I noticed I do not have to wait for the drops to soak in, it just sucks them up right away. Kind of cool to watch. I replaced the end cap and screwed it onto my BB to test it out. The first thing I notice is that the draw is very smooth and effortless, the semi-warm vapor seems to fill my mouth with ease. Upon inhaling, I can feel a very strong, pleasant sting at the back of my throat, and when exhaling I can taste the subtle blackberry flavors of my liquid on the tip of my tongue, followed by the robust cola flavors exploding between my cheeks.

In conclusion, I LOVE this cartomizer. It produces massive vapor, brutal throat hit and flavor comparable to an 801 atomizer. The only downfall of this wonderful device is that with increased vapor and TH, you can only expect the liquid within the cartomizer to be used faster. With this in mind, a full refil does not last very long and I would really love to see a higher capacity 901 cartomizer. Aside from that, it is absloute perfection! When these are released I may be inclined to buy hundreds. ;D

How you enjoying cartos man?

Well, as you know, I'm not really a carto guy but I have been enjoying this particular one very much. It's not a match to dripping the IKV HV306 atty at 6V, which I consider the greatest most satisfying setup ever, but this LR901 carto is the most satisfying carto I've ever tried at 3.7V, for sure. Nice flavor, wicks fast, and provides a very nice TH. The only thing is that I need the battery to be above 3.85V to get the full enjoyment. Fist couple of days I was changing batteries in my P16 every couple of hours but for the past few days I've been running my P18 at 3.7V with the AW 18650 2600 mah battery to have that fresh-off-the-charger feel for the most part of the day. That has obviously worked out really well.

I wanted to put this carto through it's paces so I've been using it probably about 60-70% of the time for the past week with my DIY Strawberry juice (85/15 pg/vg) and I'm really pleased with the way it's held up. It actually inspired me to order the new LR Mega 510 and Mega LR808 cartos as well. I'm looking forward to trying them when they arrive in a couple of days. So far, I'm impressed!

Mine is still performing very well.

Initially, I was vaping with it at 8.4 watts, which is the middle setting on the Darwin. Tons of vapor... very nice. I had accidentally bumped the dial down to the lowest setting, which is 4.something watts (I'm at work, Darwinless, so I can't check) and was very surprised that the carto still worked very well. A bit cooler of a vape (which I like) but still a really nice amount of vapor.

Me still likey.

I am glad new doors are opening for you. It is a nice change of pace very now and again if nothing else. Have you tried it on an eGo? You might be pleasantly surprised :) (consistency throughout the charge)

Actually, I have been eGo-less for a while now. I know you will consider this a sacrilege but it was collecting dust. A friend of mine who wanted to start vaping inherited it so it's been put to a good use...

I know what you are saying regarding consistency. I'm getting it right now for most of the day from the AW 18650 batt. Tnx.

Still effective at 4.x watts... good to know being a small'ish 3.7v batt user, i'd get around 7+ watts fully charged and it would slide down to just under 5 watts near battery depletion. This is the second carto i've been genuinely interested in. The first was the CE2, but refilling them was way too much of a hassle for me. I'll definitely get a few of these when they show up in force.

It has been awhile now and I figured I will give an update on how the cartomizer is preforming in the way of longevity.

I must have had it for three weeks now, I fill it up about once a day on average and it is still kicking like day one... that is aside from the fact that it seems like it can hold considerably less liquid. On the inital fill I got ~30 drops I believe and then it was somewhere around 20 for what seemed like forever. Then I started to notice that with 20 drops it would leak everywhere and make a grand mess. After about 12 drops at this point the filler material seems to be saturated and with that ammount of liquid it just doesn't last very long at all.

It would be intresting to have a cartomizer where you simply pull out the old filler material and stuff in some new because the heating element seems to be holding up very well.

Hello all. Picked up several of these which arrived yesterday (dang that was fast!).

I'm using these on a 3.7v box mod (i.e. straight up off a 14500) from MadVapes which I built using a dead 901 battery's connector instead of the supplied 501. I'm pretty new to vaping, and do enjoy dripping on my 901 atties, though I haven't yet experienced ones from ikenvapes. The ones I have now are all standard (~2.6-3ohm). I also have a number of 501 carts (1.6 - 2.4ohms).

Of everything I've tried so far, these carts produce the most insanely dense, moist, and taste-filled vapor. I literally didn't know what I was missing! They are almost too much for me on a fresh battery, and I really can't wait until I have the opportunity to build a VV mod to try these out at a little lower voltage. In the meantime, I think I'll be using these after using something else first on the fresh batteries for a couple hours (i.e. my limited voltage regulation scheme for now).

I do have a question...I saw one person mention "replacing the inner ring" on this thread after filling. These are the first cartos I've seen that have this inner ring, so I wasn't sure what do to there. What is the "proper" fill method? Remove that and drip until nearing a slushie? So far, I've just been dropping them down the hole until they start going in slower, which probably explains why I get so much juice back when I first fire them up. That would be my only complaint, but not a complaint for right now as I'm assuming that I'm filling it wrong and/or overfilling.

I also love the draw on these. Most of my SLB 901's feel a little too tight/hard on the draw, and the 510 cartos just aren't smooth like this one.

One last thing - it was a little bit of a learning curve for me with my 901 atties with plenty of leaking and flooding prior to changing over to dripping (after wasting way too much time, effort, and juice experimenting with various cart fillers), so I was relieved to find these work so well wet and haven't leaked so far.

OK, so I took a look at a second one, and the inner ring was much higher in this one. I popped that out to fill and replaced it, at a little below the very high point it was originally. Much better. Is the ring supposed to be just below the cap as this one was originally, or pushing down the filler slightly as the first one was? My guess is just to the top of the filler, which is working well so far.

Also, I have seen suggestions that anything LR not be used on small/standard batteries which is sensible. But given whatever the "battery draining changes" are on these ones, I dared to try placing one on my standard size 901 batteries anyway (they were bouncing between 1.9 and 2 ohm on my meter), and was surprised to find it works very well. They are auto batteries, and no longer do I need a primer puff. Just a quick few second drag does it quite well. It's like having a super-mini that actually works. Very cool. I do worry a little about the small gauge wires used in these, so I'm just being cautious and using them easier than I normally would and keeping a feel for any temperature change although that may be difficult to detect through the body. If I kill a battery, well, that's just a failed experiment the way I see it (they're not the most useful things anyway - just convenient when out and about on a short trip), but is there anything I should watch out for, or should I just not be doing this at all? Eh...I'll read around a little before making a habit of it - I'm sure the topic has been covered.

Funny thing - I've decided I don't like one of my flavors any more after using these. I actually got too much of its taste and got kinda turned off from it. Other flavors I like even more now though.

Hey Wolcen! I'm sorry for the delay!
Your totally fine with using our Lr's on standard batteries. The 1.5 ratings are the real concern. With ours, we heighten the internal resiatance of the filament itse;f so the only change you would or probably did notice is the battery life is slightly decreased by roughly 30 minutes. BAck in the beginning before I knew the neat things that we can do now. The 2.0's significantly severed battery life. That hasn't been the case in nearly a year now. :)
The little clear ring you see is just a splash gaurd to prevent liquid from getting into your mouth. If you drip on top of it, it will surely happen. Some folks like myself just discard it and add a drip tip, but others like to hang on to it. You can drip directly through the top of use the condom method just fine. The condom method where you fill a cap with liquid and push the cartomizer down (battery side down ) into the cup. It's a bit of a learning curve on how much will completely fill it.

Thanks very much for the info. What an impressive community and vendors there are here on ECF!

I didn't think I'd get much use out of these batteries until I tried hanging one of these off them. The smooth draw works perfectly with the automatic switch too. This would be my #1 recommendation for any new vaper looking for that "closest to an analog" quality.

Outstanding product Isaac!

Well, as a relatively new vapor, I'm gonna thow my 2 cents in here. These cartos are excellent in TH, flavor, and a warm easy draw. They absorb liquid real well. That has all been said previously. I haven't seen any comments on how fast it goes thru nic juice. I am using this carto on my Riva 901, and topping it off with 10-15 drops. That is gone in no time and that is a real drawback for me, and I don't know if it is just me, or if it's just the nature of the beast. Other than this, it's the best carto I've used. Just don't think I can afford to run juice thru a carto like this.
