Better than a EVOD?

Hey you fine fellow fogheads!

I am a V2 guy. Started with Blu and tossed it within the week. V2 has been running for about 3 months now. I think it is time to upgrade.

The EVOD seems to be the highest recommended next step. But, I want to know if there are higher quality products out in the same basic design?

I want the same size or slightly bigger. No D cell size sledgehammers. I don't claim to really understand VV batteries or resistance atomizers or any of that thus far but I am learning. It seems like a bit too much gadgetry for what I am after right now though.

The number one requirement is that it be a very solid and long lasting setup. I am looking for a base set to use mostly at home. I want to be able to fill it up and go, clean it out, and fill it up again as many times as possible. So, simple and solid is the goal here. I don't want an "entry level PV" if you understand my ramblings. I am one of those crazy folks who research a topic until I am confident enough to skip the beginners level and jump right in to the middle. Serves me well most times.

You are going to get recommendations to get a VV battery like a Spinner, Winder, Twist no matter what haha. I would say to go for the 650mah or the 900mah one if you do go that route. And VV is very simple, you can just adjust it to taste, you don't have to worry about what the numbers are for now if you don't want to. There are plenty of charts like this one to help you out:

Another quick tip that you can use is the rule of resistance +2 for what voltage you want to set it at.
Example: 2.0 ohm atomizer + 2 = 4.0volts

that will normally give people a pretty good tasting vape.

But I would also recommend the EVOD batteries if you don't want to learn about VV now or any time in the future. If you do get a set voltage device though, I would suggest that you get some coil heads that are in the 1.8ohm range.

EVODs are recommended so frequently because the *ARE* better than a generic ego ".... hut/gas station knockoff.

I still use parts of my Kanger EVOD starter kit.
Those little 650 ma batteries and a EVOD tank are great to stick in my pocket and go out for a few hours with.

No, it won't keep up with my large mod.

My large mod also won't fit in my jeans pocket and allow me to sit down either.

OR you can go with the iTaste VV3 and get VW like the big mods with out the hassles and go with a mini Protank

VW (variable wattage) lets you set the device to the wattage that gives you the best taste and vapor and you don't need to worry about charts and such

and Welcome to the ECF

The Evod kit is a very good kit IMO. They are 3.7 volt regulated batteries which is nice. My gripe is the button. It's nice and aesthetically appealing but, because it is flush, it's hard to find by feel at times. Just kind of a quirky thing I don't like.

The Evod clearo is one of the best. Simple. Lots of youtube help. Consistent. I always keep some filled for quick out and about trips. Again my gripes. I wish it held more and, because I'm an old guy, I need my reading glasses to see how much liquid is remaining.

Still, I recommend these often.

On the regulated 3.7v battery, I use the 1.8ohm coil.

hello PatThePoltergiest, welcome to the big ECF

so if I catch your drift, the next step would be an EGO battery in variable voltage style...
kanger doesn't make a big enuff VV battery so Vision Spinner is
what comes next IMO, for quality...
the kanger bcc (bottom coil) tanks are very good and simple...

a million ways to go, here is some help in "crazy folks who research a topic " :D

23.95 - Vision Spinner 1100mAh battery
11.99 - Kanger Mini Protank 2 Clearomizer
6.49 - universal Protank and Evod coils
3.99 - USB wall adapter
5.99 - Kanger EVOD USB Charger

- - -

- Kanger Evod Starter Kit
- Vision Spinner 1300mAh battery
- Kanger EVOD bottom coil clearomizer

love the standard EVOD kit, but without VV, you'll out grow it qwik...

The starter kit, a bigger vv vision batt, couple of extra tanks + several flavors of juice = good to go for a start.

One shot and backups!

Welcome to ECF.
I'm going to give a +1 to the itaste, also for it's pass through capabilities - that you can use it while it's charging. I haven't used the others mentioned though, so can't really compare.

Thanks much!

You have convinced me. I am leaning toward a spinner with a protank mini as a primary option. Then add some clearos too for good measure. Perhaps the VV option is really worth it eh? It still worries me that it may break. We shall see. I just ordered a few samples of juice to try while I work out the rest of it. Maybe that will give me the proper incentive to pull the trigger on my new hardware! As if I need encouragement. This may just turn into yet another hobby in which to toss my hard earned money.

Yes, sigh, that's just how it works, I'm afraid. But really, it is fun, and also, we are NOT smoking, which is worth a whole lot to me.:)

I have a couple of Spinners and like them a lot. They work really well with the Evod clearomzers that I already had with my starter ego kit. Here is a link to a reliable vendor that has the Evods on sale for $4.99, which is a good price. If you use the code ECF at checkout, you get 10% off. Always happy to enable, er help, a newbie.:D (They sell Spinners, too.)

I would agree with all the above. I started with the standard ce4 blister pack and soon went with a 1100 ma vision spinner and mini pro tank 2. I find its nice to be able to change the voltage to find where I get the best taste. It lasts me almost all day, wish it had a pass through like the I taste vv3 so I could vape while it is charging. One thing I noticed is its output doesn't actually match what the dial says. Checked with my volt meter and its usually off by 0.3v until about 4.2v then its right on. I personally haven't had much luck with the protank2 mini. Very finicky and lots of wicking issues. Had a little better luck with the evod and they use the same coil. I myself am looking for a better battery. Kinda wish I would have went with a veriable wattage to start with.

Im happy with your decision. Well what your leaning to. My wife has a spinner with a mini protank 2 and it works perfectly.
I cannot recommend this setup enough. Well maybe except the itaste vv. But i also haven't used it either.

Tacking on to what erryone has said, the Spinner or Evod battery will do you good. The protank or evod topper will also be just fine. But I would recommend the iTaste vv3.
The passthrough/microusb charging alone is worth it; having variable wattage and resistance reader are icing.

Thanks much!

the iTaste VV V3 is a GREAT device, was thinking it was more 'fiddly' than you want...?
the drawback is the LOW capacity of 800mah, and the slightly higher price...
but I love mine (feature rich) -- on the other hand, the spinners are just like
a volume knob, turn it up / down...

either should/will be reliable...

- Kanger Mini Protank II v1 - Eciggity

- Twist Style VV Batteries
- Kanger T0 T2 T3 T4 T5 EVOD ProTank Clearomizers

wow, so many decisions

:p

I started 3 months ago with a joyetech 900mah twist and a Janty top coil clearo and then went to an Evod 650mah kit.

Got to say the Evod is great (I never really got the hang of/used VV anyway). The battery life so far has been excellent, the bottom coil suits me way better (coolness especially) and the genuine clearos I have might need a little tlc from time to time but are troopers by and large. It also looks very nice in the hand imo and is comfortable in the pocket. I get a lot of compliments about it. For price and all round performance it deserves a lot of recognition I think.

Also, they're recognised as very good to learn rewicking on. You may not think you will want to do this, but when you see how easy it is to do and how much you can cater to what you want, you could quickly change your mind. I did.
