The Socialist Republic of Santa Monica is next, no surprise there (link broken, remove spaces):

http: / /www.bizjournals.com/losangeles/news/2014/06/18/santa-monica-consider-e-cigarette-ban.html

I went to the Santa Monica Promenade a couple of years ago when I smoked. I still smoked people still smoke.
You just have to do it now like you would if u were smoking something else.
What I think these laws do more than anything is give the liscense to some self righteous a hole to call you on it.
People are just so stupid and blind as a whole, there is a lot more out there to harm you than nicotene and second hand smoke.
Give people something silly to champion against as to take their eyes off the other crap that goes on.

Yeah, I guess I'll be putting my Beverly Hills house up for sale. Me and Ellie Mae are movin back to Bug Tussle.......

Not to worry then; you think Mr. Drysdale isn't gonna let that happen. He will get the law changed back.
Granny and Uncle Jed leaving cause they can't vape where they want. I think not

So all the filthy rich folks in Beverly Hills will allow themselves to be pushed around? Just like normal working stiffs? Or will there be an exception for the filthy rich?

Yeah, and nice idea: have the police force spend their time on vaping violations. I bet the real criminals will love that. Nothing like breaking and entering, armed robbery etc in broad daylight - while the police are busy apprehending normal citizens for the horrible crime of using a personal vaporizer.

“Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I'm not sure about the universe.”
― Albert Einstein

The filthy rich are rarely standing in lines, at farmers markets, or in public places. Doesn't affect them in the least.

I still wonder how all this legislation would be affected if we claimed we weren't using any nicotine. If the law is against electronic cigarettes and I am using a personal vaporizer with a "non nicotine liquid" *wink wink nudge nudge* (or even actually using 0mg) what's their course of action? It'd be like drinking in public, a lot of areas allow the "brown bag" policy, if I filled an empty wine, beer, liquor, etc bottle with water they can't cite me for drinking in public.

Heck, why not bust any soda drinker in public? Officer, that person over there is drinking a rum and coke, in public. Minus the rum, but just the appearance of it is bad enough. All you 7 and 7 drinkers who are leaving out the Seagram's portion are just as bad, based on the appearance of what you are 'actually' up to. Officer, see that person over their with the cup of ice. I swear it is, or was, whiskey on the rocks, please make an example out of them.

I was going to mention this, as a zero-nic vaper..

Arguably, what I'm vaping probably smells better & is probably safer than being forced to breathe in some woman's nasty, offensive & under-regulated perfume which contains who knows what kind of unsafe chemicals, which may trigger asthma, allergies, migraines & other health issues to those around her...

You know, as a breather, I have rights, too!

This should be a no-perfume & no-cologne town!

:D

Can they give you a blood test, though? Could be problematic - but I get your point.

Yes - but if we start behaving as badly as the antz do then we all go down the tube imho.. Perfume's ok - it may smell like polecat waste sometimes but it's a person's right to choose imho. :)

I wonder why they don't ban wine? Alcohol has created more public embarrassment than cigarettes or Vaping. Oh Wait, there's tax money and worldwide notority for California wine growers.

Glad to live in Georgia, still a tobacco grower state, although many have switched to cotton, soybeans, and corn. At least I can walk around in public and vape without anyone getting on my case for doing so. After 4 years of discriminately vaping in shopping malls and restaurants, not one person has accosted me for doing so. The ones that approach me are curious and want to buy one for their brother in law who can't quit smoking.

But think about the children & their tiny little lungs!

I know you're being sarcastic, but something came to mind when I read your post so I'm being sarcastic too.

Have these people ever change a baby's diaper? I think "they" should ban babies from having bowel movements, some of the stuff that comes out could be lethal!

Naw, but they could ban vaporizers. Who knows what people could put in there to support their addictions?

You mean the Vicks vaporizers?

Yep, it would be about as ridiculous. I really wish the FDA would go ahead and thoroughly test vaping for issues. I really do think that after 4 years they could have found problems if there were any deep, dark, looming dangers. It's really amusing that the public bans are starting. Vapor that looks like smoke just makes ANTZ types angry even if there's been little reason found to demean the use of ecigs.

If it looks like a duck ... shoot it!

If it looks like a duck and walks like a duck, then to assume it IS a duck is simplistic. :)

Yes, I really do think that anti-smoking types just view vaping as another nicotine source to fight. Never mind that it's much safer in a lifetime than many other things that are perfectly legal. People risk their lives every day doing lots of things that could result in death. Bicycling on public streets, skydiving, overeating, motorcycles, cars, and a hundred other things that could kill the participants are never subjected to bans.

Junk foods that lead to early death are big time moneymakers in retail stores.

I have often thought that if it weren't for the fact that I would hardly be able to tolerate being around myself for doing this, I should douse myself in the most offensive cologne I can find (Sex Panther anyone?) if public vaping is banned. I understand a businesses right to restrict it, but from public places? Come on. You think my respectful vaping actions were offensive to your nostrils/asthma/sensibilities before, just wait til I smell like a walking tire fire with the ever so faint olfactory assault of musk...

Bwaahaaahaa!!!
Now, that might be worth a try

Yeah, I know, there are some female perfumes too that stink like the inside of a house of ill repute (as we say in my mother tongue). With the added insult that those females using the stuff seem to bathe in it (is there a "throwing-up'" smiley?). That would be a wonderful thing to bathe in before attending a place where vaping is banned :D

Say, how about you and I go out together?
But I suggest that we should both get a bad cold before we do that, so that OUR sense of smell is deadened somehow ;)
