I know Beck and btobw have expressed interest in stainless steel. Anyone else? :?:
I think I know a guy who's still hoping for titanium, but you could probably twist his arm into signing up for one made from stainless steel. :sneaky:

What alloy are you considering?

I bought of o them for kicks. Total garbage, never built.
I mean literally - unusable.
The screw won't go deep enough in the side hole to actually grab wire.
The holes in the deck are different distances from the center post.
I want my $8 back!
lol

I see a nuppin clone @ focal ecig that's 22mm.

Any clones at least the right size?

Hey, I'm new to this game and still drunk with my first CC, but I'd be interested.

(you had me at "stainless", as in "less stains")

Great news, Rudy! Definitely not easy to come by! I used to have a v1 and a v2 and sold them both to one guy who was desperate for some Nuppin love.

Congrats Rudy, couldn't have happened to a nicer guy :)

I've picked up a couple of highly sought after atties here lately, and am really enjoying them, but my Nuppins will never be sold, it's a great atty. I hope you enjoy as much as I enjoy mine.

Did 2 things today! Swapped in my new silver negative contacts, and tried out ss 316L

On the silver contacts, huge thanks to @Rossum for his electric tape idea. Got it installed within 5 mins. Phew. I'm liking it. At 0.4ohms, the improvement is noticeable. My biggest wish is that with silver, I can reduce the amount of maintenance needed on the negative contact. Fingers crossed.

For the SS 316L, I must say I was thoroughly disappointed. ESP After seeing so many people rave about it

My usual build is a 26ga kanthal, dual coil, 7 wraps around 3/32 bit, netting ~0.4 ohms. that gives me a very warm vape, dense vapor, and has very quick ramp up.

In my first run, I went with dual 28gauge, 9 wraps around 3/32 to give me ~ 0.43 ohms. Immediately I observed that the coil surface area was significantly smaller (7 wraps 26 gauge vs 9 wraps 28gauge). I found ramp up to be roughly the same, just a little quicker. vape was cooler though. I've since experimented with 26 gauge SS 316L. To hit 0.4 ohms, I had to use a whopping 14 wraps and that really killed the ramp up time.

If anyone has any tips on how to tweak my builds, I would love to hear it. Particularly for smth that would give me the heat, ramp up time and surface area of my standard kanthal build.

Btw, is the wire supposed to turn blueish when I pulse it? I've been doing it at low 10 watts...

Why are you needing 14 wraps for .4 ohms? Go larger ID. I use 9 wraps for .5 or 8 wraps for .45

Vaping is highly subjective...for me, kanthal is garbage in comparison. Unvapable even, sold all of it yesterday. For you it may be the exact opposite. But it sounds like you're doing micros, which I don't like anyway so maybe try a larger ID before making a final judgment.

I can totally relate to the disappointment and unfortunately this happens to all of us pretty often in vaping. I've bought so many attys that were "the best ever" only to absolutely despise them (including Nuppins, believe it or not). I apologize if my own ravings (which I know I've been singing to high heavens about SS and Rayon) have led to disappointment. I tend to rave, and rave, and rave when I find something that ups MY vape by a lot. In this case it was by a whole lot so I extra-raved LOL.

.

What inner diameter are you using?

That said, I doubt it would've made much difference in the ramp up. The length, and hence mass, of wires used to achieve a certain resistance would still be the same.

I certainly haven't given up on it. Just bummed, but I'm gonna keep trying out different builds for sure

2.5mm is what I always use. I dunno though, my ramp up and specifically cool down is much better than kanthal unless I use parallel with a high gauge of kanthal. So sounds like we're having different experiences bc you're right the length of wire is what matters not the ID.

It all depends on how you like to vape too. If you like a lot of throat hit, you should stick to kanthal or build lower resistance than normal, IMO - SS is super smooth because it jumps UP in resistance while firing.

ETA are you using duals? I can't advise with duals I'm afraid. Quit using them many months ago.

Yeah duals for me. Let me fudge around more and see how it goes. I'm determined to give it a good run before I make my judgements. [emoji51]
