@Kelt. , I haven't done a thorough, deep cleaning, and am hoping my routine maintenance routine will suffice :)

Whenever I refill, I make sure no juice has leaked out, anywhere. I'm in the G&T program in over-squonking, so that entails wiping the top of the mod with a damp microfiber cloth. If I know I've been messy, I also unscrew the atty and wipe underneath.
Every couple of days, I use a damp microfiber cloth and wipe the exterior of the mod. This is usually when I dryburn, so while I'm at it, I also clean the contacts with some 99% alcohol, and maybe use a drop of deoxit gold. And I clean the button.
With the copper mod, I may clean the exterior with a bit of Barkeeper's Friend. Or not.

These mods are really easy to keep up. For refurbishing and polishing, folks seem to use Ultra Fine Scotch Bright pads. I have a box of them, but haven't had to do that. Someone else can say how it's done :)

ETA: Watch Sloth's vid. It tells you everything you need to know.

Well they are people I work with now, not online acquaintances.
But I believe Geno's has been mentioned. ;)

As I said, I prefer real cheese, provolone, not that concoction called "American" cheese. American cheese - Wikipedia

Prefer what you will.

It's not a cheese steak.

It's a steak hoagie or steak sandwich with provolone.

A cheese steak with provolone is when the provolone is in addition to american cheese.

Though these days you'd have to clarify that order, when I was younger it'd be very clear.

But they might ask if you were serious when you order. Or just consider it a prank and never deliver.

I'm sorry.

As I said, Boars Head new yorker.

Real cheese.

Not singles which are disgusting concoctions of oils and... something.

ETA: if you're going to be a cheese snob (which I am, btw) you might want to know a couple things...

1) neither Pat's nor Geno's uses actual cheese whiz. It's a canned goop that simulates nacho cheese.

2) Might want to check your shredded cheese package for the ingredient cellulose. They grind up tree bark and put it in the cheese during processing so the shreds don't clump back together in the bag.

I'm not even getting into the fact that there's MSG in your cheese and the dozens of names it will hide under.

Here it is. I do this occasionally...

Its remarkable hat two people figure out the exact same method with the same pen lol. Well I'm glad I didn't go to the trouble of making s video. Even he rolling I just figured that out with the 28

Funny. I looked for videos and that one didn't come up. Thabks for posting its basically exactly what I do but I use tweezers and roll the wire around the end as it takes less effort and won't accidentally come loose.

I'm surprised no-one has mentioned the "spinning coffee cup" method yet. :)

    + @kelt

Drag across grey pad in one direction and in the direction of the brush. Very easy. A few passes suffice for touch up. Don't go back and forth. Firm press wire. One direction.

I mentioned some silver wipes before the name escapes me. I'll post a picture of the wipes in a second with s link to Amazon two pack. They work well for more than damp cloth cleaning and less than polishing. They take off very very basic dirt and patina.

    @kelt

Here you go. Not abrasive enough to screw up the finish with mOre cleaning than a damp microfiber.

Weiman Silver Polish & Tarnish Remover 20 Ct Cleaner Wipes (Pack of 2) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00G7TLDL8/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_21QCybSMCGN2C

People like these for the rebrush

    3M HP-HP Scotch-Brite Hand Pad - Ultra Fine Grade 6 in Width x 9 in Length - 7448[PRICE is per BOX] https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00125PR5A/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_m3QCybWESACWH

I got a box for $10. I wouldn't pay that much for them. Because I find these to be just as effective though smaller they're wide enough to work

    Scotch-brite[emoji768] 223 Heavy Duty Scour Pad, 6" X 3.8", 3-pack https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000GAZ75W/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_c4QCybM408M76

I honestly don't see much difference between the grey pads and those. I've used both. I keep the grey pads added to cart so I k is if they drip to $10 again.

With bar keepers friend you have to be careful as you can polish off the brush pretty easily. And once you take off Corey's machine finish you aren't going to get it back the same with grey or green pads (great for touch up not for applying s lasting primary finish)

If you don't run hard and sort of give it s little soak and gently wipe off it. An work but it's a lot of trouble for this mod. Its too much I think. If you just keep it up with damp. Icrofiber most of the time maybe the wipes I linked and the occasional rebrush touch up. Then I can keep the filth away. The mod I bought was not cared for as the owner said hey preferred the grimy look. The black infiltrated very very deep
Into the aluminum and the mod is now with Corey being reworked. I tried and tried but couldn't get it "right". So less is more. But clean regularly.

I know some Philly folk that disagree on the cheese whiz.

    I prefer provolone :)
My mom grew up in Philly. Said cheese steak she grew up loving was rib-eye frozen to be sliced thin on a slicer, griddle with onions and topped provolone.

I'm working my way thru Sloth's Vid.. I do a little metalsmithing (patina work and sometimes I try to improve my etching/engraving skills) so the scotchbrite and Ren wax was no surprise. I'm going to have to pick up some Deoxit though... being a mech user, I have no idea why I don't have any:rolleyes:

Sloth is our very own Rayonati Sloth. He posted the video, again, just this afternoon. It's a page back, immediately preceding my "maintenance" post. :)

    Nope

It's a Philly Cheese Steak, Cheese Wiz is absolutely one of the preferred ingredients in an authentic Philly Cheese Steak,

Maybe not your preferred ingredient, but an authentic ingredient just as well

Tony Luke's? They're the only one I know of that actually uses rib-eye.

Some advertise it, but I've never seen anyone else use better than knuckle meat.

Then who actually uses cheese wiz?

It's not about what I prefer, BOB.

It's about the reality of 40 years of history.

Maybe in Brooklyn, but not in Philly. :p

I'll make you a deal: If you don't try to tell us what should be in a Cheese Steak, we won't try to tell you what should be in a Pastrami Sandwich, m'OK?
