disgusting!

So they spend 2.7 mil US$ to spy on people and then use the results of this spying to make "policy decisions" to do the most harm to those self-same people. See what the people like and then hit them where it hurts. And laugh all the way to the bank.

Yes, Big Brother is watching you. And this Big Brother can go and ... perform a lewd act with himself.

And yeah.. sometimes you recognize the spies and saboteurs in forums from a mile away. It is always disgusting to know that there are people who actually get paid for sabotage and nastiness. Yuck. And - this is for Big Brother, I hope he takes note - I most sincerely hope that those people get cancer and die.

In case you thought 1984 was pure fiction, in the U.S. at least, Big Brother is, indeed, watching us.

From the article, quoted verbatim:

“We just want to observe what is going on, especially among young people,” said Zeng.

Won't anyone think of (investigating) the children?

Ugh... Anytime anyone makes a comparison to 1984 I immediately throw whatever they say next out the ....ing window.

Here's the ....ing deal. If you put something on social media or a message forum, and you act surprised when other people see it, then you shouldn't be allowed on social media.

That's pretty much it. The beauty of FaceBook: Create a site where "less than smart" people can verbalize every ill conceived brain fart for the entire world to view... and then be shocked when someone actually decides to view it.

Throw in the Patriot Act, and one really ought not be surprised if everything, short of a thought in your head, may come back to you via political ramifications that are either stated or implied in your message to anyone/the world.

1984 may be (likely is) an unfair comparison, but not entirely farfetched to see that what we have and are allowing government to be involved in, against its 'own people' certainly seems to be heading in that direction.

Given the propaganda involved on this topic, the desires for historical revisionism, the announced investigations of people for the betterment of public health (elitism), I'm thinking I'd have far easier time defending case that this is akin to 1984 than one who wishes to argue this is nothing like that story.
