Big confusion getting started with Tobacco recipes

I have been following a lot of recipes in the forum and frankly, it's a little overwhelming :).

I generally tend to like sweetish (not too sweet) tobacco flavors.

#1 What are the basics I need to get started with tobacco juices (besides nic, pg, vg etc).

#2 Is there a thread that explains everything about EM, Acetyl Pyrazine, TA etc? These are the ones that seem complicated to me.

#3 Are EM, AP, TA etc needed to make good pipe tobacco juices or do the off the shelf pipe tobacco flavors (like TFA's black honey) already have something? Do I just get some flavor and add it to my pg/vg/nic base or do I actually need some of these flavor enhancers (for the lack of a better word)?

Thanks!

AP in small amounts (.5-1%) adds a nutty taste. In larger amount tastes like burnt corn chips to me. I use this at 1 drop per 5ml in a TFA RY4 Double mix that is my EDV

EM is an additive that supposedly makes juices thicker and though not a sweetener can make certain mixes taste sweeter. I have it but don't use it.

TA or Tobacco Absolute is very strong flavor, that some people add in small quantities to their tobacco mixes to give them an extra kick (taste). I have some but haven't experimented with it yet.
Hope some of this is helpful! :toast:

Cheers,
Steve

I like a good tobacco...I don't do enhancers (sic) or a lot of other popular opinion stuff. I figure if a flavor needs enhancing, I must be using the wrong flavor brand. I do likes me some Inawera Tony D' Milano S'Camel, Little Space Drop, Dirty Neutral Base, Azure TA, Hangsen Indian, RY's, USA etc....you can add vanillas, coconut, chocolate, marshmallow and whatnots if you like...

#1- I'd recommend starting with Hangsen or Inawera tobaccos. They're easy and don't need a lot, if any, additives to make a fine vape.

#2- http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...ques-flavor-add-ons-em-vw-bw-mts-acv-ect.html

#3- Not for me but that's up to you. I do use Inawera Virginia tobacco absolute in some mixes (which is quite UNlike the old TFA TA, or I'm assuming Azure TA). It makes a light sweetish tobacco more tobacco-y. For some reason I can't tolerate AP or TA at all.

I too just began the journey of learning DIY Juice. I primarily want just a good tobacco flavor and have also followed several recipes here that just didn't taste right to my taste buds but quite possibly is because I played around with too many flavors at once for a new DIY'er... I then read many of posts here and I believe it was Hoosier and DannyV (who also likes tobacco flavor) were very helpful, I read their blogs here too. I then decided to take their advice and just used one flavor in a PG/VG mix to get understand the flavor that I was working with. I just made two up this way last night, one was Black Honey Tobacco and the other is Double RY4. I started adding on the low side and began working up , drop by drop. I got to about 8% on each when the flavor began to come thru. I stopped it there , capped them, put them in the Ultrasonic Cleaner for a bit , and will taste them later this evening to see if there is any change.

So to answer #1, I would start with just 5ml of Pg/VG and add some flavor using some tobacco flavors or your choice. Once you get something to taste right to you then record that. Now mix another base using PG/VG and now nicotine of your desired strength and taste that to see if there is reduction/rise in flavor and adjust as needed. Once you get your first one done to your taste then you can start to add other flavors and experiment. Start small and then progress upwards.

as far as EM , AP , and other additives, I suggest to just stay with one flavor for a bit.

Start with a nice Ry4 if you like a tobacco vape on the sweeter side.

hangsen RY4 5 - 7% or TFA Double RY4 at 5 - 7%
Hangsen caramel 1%
EM .5%

BuyHangsen.com

Let it steep for 4 weeks or 4 hours in a crockpot set to 150F or an ultrasonic cleaner for 4 hours.

Simple but delish.

That is correct Bad.
.35ml of RY4
.05ml of Caramel
.025ml of EM

I usually make 10ml samples because I feel that it's more accurate for scaling up if you really like the recipe. It's hard to accurately measure very small amounts (ie .05 or .025ml)

Cheers,
Steve

Edit. I forgot the second part. Yes, that would be a 10% EM solution diluted in PG.

Edit 2 I don't use EM in my RY4 mixes, but that's what Danny meant. My favorite RY4 is TFA RY4 Double at 8%, I also add 1 drop of AP per 5ml of juice for nuttyness. When I want a sweeter treat, I add 2-3% Caramel (I like Caramel Original best, but have tried all 3 of the TFA Caramels) and Vanilla Swirl (or Bavarian Cream if you prefer).

You may also like Golden Virginia (ECX has one) Or Hangsen Turkish Blend if you like a slightly sweeter tobacco. Golden Virginia is an adv for me at times.

And they are single flavors, easy to mix. If you prefer high vg juices then many others will be a sweeter vapes just because VG is slightly sweet. Ry4 Double from TPA, and black honey tobacco come to mind. Not as sweet in high PG base but just sweet enough in VG base.
