Hi, I'm very new to all this.

I just got some TA from ecigexpress that is listed as diluted to 50% in 190 proof PGA. I understand it is quite strong even at 50%. I have seen a suggested use starting at less than 1%.

If I further dilute, say, 2ml. of the TA in `18ml. of PGA(I've got an ample supply of 190 proof from local ol' boy)(checks out on hydrometer for proofing purpose) won't that get me down to 5% TA concentration?

Then, if at 5% concentration, I add 5.0ml. to 50ml. 50/50 pg/vg base, won't that give me a TA mix at just a hair less than 1% TA? I may be having a math malfunction.

Anyway, I just want to arrive at a basic tobacco flavor without menthol, sweetness additives, acetyl pyrazine or other additives. Just want very basic tobacco flavoring from which to work.

I've got about 4 commercial 555 mixes and the buttery flavor is overwhelming in all of them(sickeningly way too much), but no tobacco-like flavoring, even after 4 weeks steeping.

Thanks for the help, please.

For a 50% already dilute product try 4 drops in 10ml and use that as the concentrate. I like mine strong so I'' do like 2% - 4% in 10ml. But it's all a matter of taste.

A buttery taste from a 555 is weird. Should have a nutty tobacco taste with no sweetness or creamy taste at all. What did you use to make your 555.

Thanks Danny,

I will do as you've directed.

The 555 I have came from 3-4 different suppliers their names I won't mention. In the past I had always gotten it from GeJ and it was pretty good. This later stuff I guess one would say tastes nutty rather than buttery no discernible tobacco presence that I can tell. A friend said he thought the stuff I have now was heavy-hit with acetyl pyrazine, perhaps, for such an overbearing nutty/buttery? taste.

Anyway, I will do as you directed understanding that if I find the result a bit weak then I can carefully add a bit more TA. Just want to get a solid tobacco base tasting juice. After establishing a good base, then I will play with modding the taste.

Again, thanks.

To much AP may have been the case but AP is mandentory for any decent 555. Should use no more then 1 - 2%.

Noted this, am now keeping notes on my trial mixes.

I made 20ml. @ 2.4ml.-100mg/ml.NIC in VG(12mg/ml target), 7 drops TA, filled to 20mls. with 50/50 pg/vg. Gave it all a lot of shaking, then a hot bath in sink, shook a lot more. Thought I'd let it sit for 2-3 days for short steep. Will try it as is and see how the TA is working out alone, and then add 3-4 drops AP and try to sneak up on the nuttiness. As far as nuttiness goes, my wife says at 74 I need not go too far to achieve nuttiness. I say nothing. She quit cold turkey 14 years ago, walks on water, doesn't even leave tracks. Sigh. Mea culpa.

Thanks again.

I'm 62 and as far as achieving nuttiness I'm already there. I have my wife to thank for that:)

Oh my wife would never accept thanks for driving me nutso, she considers it a goal accomplished. Next thing, she'll want to vote.:)

Right now I use 5-6 drops 50% TA in 12ml and its not bad. If you use more than 2 drops of AP to 12 ml you are going to really taste it......strong stuff.

Point noted on the AP. I'm going to start out with just the TA mix I made Thurs. past, see how it is and then sneak in the AP but in very small increments. I do like a dominant tobacco-ey flavor. But yeah, AP can be overwhelming. I've shaken the daylights out of this stuff and hot bathed the jug multiple times. So tonight when I get home I'm going to give it first sampling.

In the meantime wife(actually a pretty good ol' gal) and I are cold extracting about 5 or 6 pipe tobaccos but we figger about 2 more weeks on that stuff, we're real new to all that.:)
