A fat battery like Riva from libertyflights us would be along the "100s" size length wise but is a bit fatter than a traditional analog and is affordable but semi-disposable. A solid mod with a removable battery like something from the precise line at supertmanufacturing would be sleek as well. It's a bit more costly but will last a lifetime if cared for properly.

The options are almost limitless nowadays- it's all about what you like. There is a thread called "Pictures of your Set Up" here: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/new-members-forum/225727-pictures-your-setup.html that will show you some different options.

Good Luck!

V4L.com is not a bad suggestion. However, if he expects a cigg sized battery to last 6, 8 hours he's plain out of luck.

I more than encourage you to try and get your friend to at least read some articles on ECF. If he understands why a cigarette shaped battery is such a bad idea(unless he's a light smoker) maybe he will go with something else that in the long run will save him money if he ends up really enjoying vaping.

This for example would be an excellent post for your friend to read: Best E-Cigarette for a New User

With the cig sized models he will be getting 1-2 hours on a charge and then need to put on another battery. That's a lot of batteries to carry around unless he is a very light smokier. Plus due to battery drain, the last half of that charge time is not nearly as good as the first half, so in essence, the vape time is even shorter. But, it's better than smoking.

Thanks people. Again, he has seen the Riva and doesn't want that size. I told him a million times he will change his mind later, so I figure he might as well have a better backup

I forget all the actual numbers but, I just thought I read that typical 510 cig-sized batteries are 180 mAh (or whatever) but there are better quality batteries somewhere out there with more mAh. Besides the fact that he will need a PCC with it, that is all I care about.

I started out with a 510 PCC kit because I new in the back of my mind if it was too different from the smoking ritual I had grown accustomed to I would be less likely to succeed. I found a 3 battery rotation worked well enough for me being a somewhat heavy smoker, but the constant swapping of batteries drove me to a mod in a few weeks. I don't regret the decision at all because it succeeded in allowing me to drop analogs where so many other attempts had failed.

While the Volt and V4L kits are a solid setup, I preferred the 510 kit because it allowed for a wider upgrade path without the need for adapters. If the familiar form factor is going to be a necessary step in his transition it may be good to help him find a possible upgrade path for the future. Remember, the smaller batteries need to be recharged more often and batteries only have so many cycles before they stop taking a full charge and need to be replaced. Hopefully they will hold him over until he's ready to spread his wings a little more.

Also, they have the 510 XL batteries that last longer than the standard 510, but they won't fit in the PCC because they are longer.

...basic J510 are 180 mah, which if he is a light smoker, may give him 1.5 orso hours...the 510XLs are around 280mah or maybe another hours usage...the 808s from SmokelessImage or the Elite 808s go upto 340(?)mah for around 3 orso hours...compared to the smaller Rivas with 650mah will give 6-7hrs of vape time and the larger 1000+mah Rivas/Kgos which will last 10+ hours for most folks...just get him one and get him off the funkarettes is the main thing...upgrades can always come later..................

Have him take a look at the SD Keyring. It's a good size, but 300 mAh. And it's in 510 threading, so he can upgrade easier later. Check out these pics of my SD Keyring, yeah that's a tank on it, lol. In the third pic you get (top to bottom) the SD Keyring with included 510 cart, standard 808 batt (280mAh) with standard 808 cart, xl 808 (380 mAh) with standard cart, HS Echo in 650 mAh, and HS Echo in 1300 mAh. I haven't touched an analogue in months, so I don't have one for additional perspective, sorry. Hope the pics help your bud!

If he goes with the Joye 510 XL, there is a specific PCC for that. They might be a little long for him though. If he's a casual smoker, I'd just start out with a few regular Joye 510's and some accessories. For me personally I have a little carrying pouch with extra batteries, juice, cartos, and my PCC that I stick inside my backpack.

Or for extra portability, I'd get one of those larger PCCs that can hold a spare battery in a non-charging slot, a few cartos, and some juice in a very tiny vial. There was a thread somewhere on here where someone found the right sized vial for the PCC's.

If you don't go fat you have to go long. And a long slim battery won't even have 1/2 the charge of the smallest fat battery (650mah)

Joye 510 mega xl manual (sealed, easier to get a good hit) - 280mah and about 128mm long with a Boge 3 ohm cartomizer (replaces the atomizer and cartridge and what most would use on there)

V4L or SmokelessImage standard/78mm manual (KR808D-1 threaded) is about 120mm w/ a cartomizer and about the same charge as mega xl Joye 510. (the SmokelessImage has a bit longer charge, the V4L allows longer drags, and ai recommend manual for both)

The XL size of the KR808D-1 models is significantly longer (I think another 3/4 inch longer) but they have more charge - obviously not any kind of cigarette length though.

Like all decent slim models, these two most popular slim models are slightly thicker than a cigarette (about 9.2-9.4mm diameter).

100mah is about 1 hour of moderate vaping with standard resistance single coil carto or atomizer (about 2.5 to 3ohms, all slim ecigs should use)

---
One combination that might interest him is Joye 510 manual (normal size - about 100mm long with a Boge 3 ohm cartomizer, 180mah charge i.e. very short charge) for whatever reason he wants something that small, or the longer Joye 510 mega xl w/ Boge 3 ohm cartomizer. And in the pocket a Madvapes 510-threaded 3.7v box mod as a large battery device - these have an on/off switch and are pretty small and flat. The box mod would give slightly warmer drags and 600 or 700mah charge depending on the battery used.

I like the 510 better than the KR808 but I think I'm in the minority. Both are decent for what they are.

Get a basic 510 or KR808 kit and some good juice. Don't spend a lot- I wouldn't go for all the bells and whistles at first. If he likes vaping, he'll probably want something bigger. Just for the fact that you get a better vape with LR cartos and you can't use them on the mini pvs.
