i bet big tobacco are pretty ...... off they didnt take the e-cig industry seriously enough to begin with

i know Blu and Green SMoke were both bought out by cigarette companies

personally, id never trust phillip morris, rj reynolds, or any other big tobacco to provide my eliquid.

how long do you think this "wild west" period for ecigs will last?

Im sure even if/when big pharma gets ahold of the sole right to control nicotine containing ejuice, some clever person will start selling "USP grade agricultural Nicotine concentrate" with a "Guaranteed Assay" and it will be for "naturally controlling bugs in your garden." Slap a "not for human consumption" sticker on it, and have some friendly recipies for mixing up 6, 12, and 24mg solutions for "a wide range of common pests." Then anyone who can work a single-variable equation could buy this concentrate, PG, VG, flavors, and not have to pay extra to the regulators for the pre-mixed juices... Unfortunately I see the market becoming like the "artistic herbal glassware and accessories" that are so prevalent everywhere.

I think that the eventual involvement of the Big Tobacco in the e-cig industry is a certainty. They have the know-how, the money , the experience and the interest to diversify ( I even read an article that they plan to have a portion of the marihuana trade in the places where it is legal " Lucky Strike Green" ). But I hope that they won't mess-up the whole industry, just to make money.

What gets to me is that people that agree with these regulations & talk a lot about not wanting be around it don't realize that the ingredients used in our liquid they basically consume on a day to day basis... Big tabacco brainwashing (or paying off) all these politicians to regulate without any type of significant evidence that it's even harmful to us or people around us..

Well it's even worse because what's basically happening is they are legislating on the basis that they don't like the look of it. Literally.

I do not believe that BT is the one we need to worry about right now, it is Big Pharma and the government both missing out on revenue. eCgs have cut into profits on cessation drugs and patches (and possibly sick people)... government is missing out on tobacco revenue and also, as people switch to eCigs or otherwise use them to quit smoking, they receive less money from BT and the tobacco settlement.

BT wants a market share of eCigs, yes, hence they have everything to gain from preventing the government from over-regulating it. It is all about the dollars with them and they don't care how they get dollars. In government there are actually idealogues, those who don't like other people to inhale nicotine at all.

I'm not as gloomy about the future as most folks here, I guess. Yes, of course they are getting involved... don't tobacco companies already own many of the larger disposable brands?

Things is, I think that's where the mass market future is... disposables, or some very simple form of reloadable, like the V2. I think most of us on this forum are more akin to "roll your own" cigarette users... a fringe market that really poses little threat to Big Tobacco.

If I had staked my future on selling in convenience stores I'd be very worried. But "mods", DIY liquid? Rebuildable atomizers? I don't think we pose a serious threat to the empire.

And for that matter, if I was routinely paying $10 bucks for three half-dried disposables at the gas station, I probably would welcome a bit of corporate competition.

Just my (relatively uninformed) opinion. Hope I'm right.

(and of course I think there will be varying degrees of limitations on vaping in public... just hope that's kept at a local level... and on selling to kids ... hard to argue too much about that.)
