These coil threads drive me nuts, because everyone's coils are so easy to see and count the number of coils in the enlarged photos, then when I go to make them myself, I can't see a darn thing in real life! LOL

Count the coils? Yeah, right! Not even with my reading glasses on - it sucks getting older! LOL

Indeed it does, my friend. I have one of the LED illuminated magnifying visors. I got it from Amazon for less than 10 bucks I think. I'd have a difficult time even re-wicking my coils without it. I use it all over the house; trimming the dogs nails, reading fine print, pulling a sliver out, etc. Don't know how I lived without one.:)
This is it.

Really and i was wanting them :( I mean lights and magnifiers all in one seems like a good thing.

It is a good thing. Go with the one I linked to. I've used it daily for months and haven't even had to change batteries yet. Its not perfect but its less than 10 dollars and does the job. JMO

I found that if I use a needle and run it down the coil slowly. counting how many clicks or bumps, I can count the wraps.

So made a coil today with a bigger diameter and i must say wow what a difference..........more wick equals more flavor and of course more vapor as i went lower on the VV......

8/9 wraps 28g kanthal at 1.2 ohms pushing 4v which gives it 3.5A.

What size? I do a 9/8 wrap of 26 awg nichrome 60 on a 5/64 drill bit for ~0.8 ohms. Not technically a microcoil, a size above, but a good mix of enough wick (therefore less likelihood of my lazy, forgetful ... of getting a dry hit) and V/T/H.

Here's a trick, take a safety pin and run it slowly along the coil and count the clicks. My eyesight is fine, but I do this all the time because, to me, it's easier than trying to count 'em.

Hope this helps!

EDIT: was beaten to the punch, but that at least somewhat proves its effectiveness. Haha.

crap. it seems like i'm raining on everyone's parade....

i tried those, or some just like it. they just didn't work for me.

i have settled on the strongest reading glasses that i know of that Scott (Sterno) turned me onto:
Mens Fashion Reading Glasses Rectangular Metal Frames Choice of Lens | eBay

they are currently supplemented by a headlamp from Harbor Freight (not the $2.99 one-- the one that is like 5 or 6 bucks)
