Just needed some help I typically like to chain vape at .8 ohms and ive been using 28 would it make a difference if I were to go to 39 or 30? Right now a 6 wrap of 28g will make my ohms roughly about .8 the coil is tiny length wise and reading superx's post about diameter equals better performance would going to 30g and adding more wraps make my juice more flavorful? Cuz my bobas bounty seems to lack after 3 hits even if I stay off it for a day

Will it make a difference?, yes. Will it be better?, depends on what you prefer.

What's the ID of your coil now? The size of the coil will determine the number of wraps required to reach your desired resistance, more wraps = larger surface area = more liquid vaporized.

I switch between 9 wraps of 26ga (0.7 ohm) or 8 wraps of 29ga (1.2 ohm) Both are 1.4mm ID (slightly smaller than 1/16"), the main differences are the warmth of the vape and the amount of lag time for heat up, but both produce nice flavorful vapor.

I would recommend you play around with your 28ga and see if adding a 2 or 3 wraps and re-positioning your coil (up, down, and closer or further from the posts)
If you can't get it to improve I'd order several feet of 30ga and play with that

Higher gauge wire is thinner - higher the number - the thinner the wire - more resistance per unit it has. So it takes fewer wraps to hit your Ohm target.

What device are you using. If it's a mechanical Reo - a grand say, then you must use your coil skills to get the vape you like. If you are using a vv grand, and i know Super-X has one - then you make typically a 1.5-2 Ω coil and vary the voltage to get what you like.

If you move from 28 to 30 and add wraps you'll end up with a higher ohm coil. Double over and twist the 28 gauge and wrap a 10wrap coil should get to about .86 ohm depending on how tight you twist the wires together. This gives more wire to wick contact and produces a very nice warm vape. I like it better than the 6 wrap I have. Of course YMMV

I would second that, I have very similar tastes and I didn't like using 30awg after the lower resistance of the 28. I would recomend using #54 piano wire that is 0.055". You get an extra wrap and keep your .8ohm coil. With BB you may have to squank more than usual if you make a smaller ID coil. Also I agree with Tony and play with the positioning of the coil and try for a slight slant "\" .

Also, Check out Mundys magic wire, it's actually pretty easy to make and it gives great flavor. http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...92-alexander-mundys-magic-twisted-ribbon.html

i tend to stick with a bigger diameter of the coil itself using 28g. I do 3-4 wraps of 28g wrapped over 3 strands of ekowool which is way bigger than 1/16. I go for the clouds though...

My reos are my adv mods if I want gigantic clouds I have a set up at home on my nemesis patriot for that ;)

Has anyone tried flat ribbon in this whole surface area is important mumbo jumbo I remember seeing someone build what they called a tinman coil its flat ribbon partially overlapping each other

From what I've heard (correct me if I'm wrong) but that "tinman" type of coil didn't improve the vape vs round, I believe Xobe/gdeal tried it among others. The best thing to do with flat ribbon is to twist it up like Mundy did, I can vouch for this. As far as twisting round kanthal, I've had good results with twisting 30g and wrapping a 1ohm coil.

If you're vaping sub-ohm coils you may benefit from slightly opening up the air hole.

Let us know what set up works for you :vapor:

I like 27g at .8 ohms, which is around 8 wraps. Excellent flavor and mad vapor production. I started out on 30g at around 1.2 ohms and that works really well, too. There is a slight difference, but both work for me. As long as you have around 7-9 wraps, I think you are going to be good to go. I have done a 6 wrap 30g coil and it just doesn't work as well for me.

I have some of that flat ribbon on order that should be here tomorrow or the next day so that I can try the Mundy Magic, but as of right now, it's just another thing to try. I don't have a desire to go into the .4 ohm builds because I don't require a scorching hot vapor, and I don't think that my juices of choice, Pluid and Boba's, benefit from something that hot. I also don't like batteries that drain in a couple of hours.

yeah i also have a setup on a trident for cloud chasing in which I use twisted 28g dual coils at around .3 ohm. My REO does a pretty good job though pushing clouds on an all day setup........

My experience is that 30 gage coils tend to heat quicker, that is, while a 28 gage 1 ohm coil takes a second or so to heat, the 30 gage is almost instantaneous. If I drop the 28 gage coil to .5 ohm it's comparable but the 30 gage still seems a bit hotter. 30 gage has it's downsides though, the coils aren't nearly as durable and I have to replace them a lot more.
