Yes, but in the other direction. I'd look at your nic levels and how much you are vaping per day, and whether you are chain vaping. Nicotine is a vasoconstrictor meaning that if you are vaping more nic than you smoked (although that's challenging) your blood pressure might go up, but that sounds like still within the normal range?

I'd probably talk to my doc about it, if it were me.... I don't vape more nic than I smoked (especially with absorption issues) but then, it's hard to top 3 ppd of regular nicotine cigarettes honestly (well, they were American spirits, so probably HIGH nicotine cigarettes).

Good luck,

Anna

So one thing I’ve realized with vaping is my blood pressure is always higher... when I smoked cigarettes my blood pressure was 120-22 over 75. Now that i’m vaping it goes up to like 137 over 84? Has any one else noticed difference in blood pressure?

Nicotine could be responsible for this. It's rather easy to consume more nicotine while vaping then while smoking. Try to control yourself.

My BP has always been normal but when at the ER after a really nasty car accident while waiting to be released I was stealth vaping and the BP went up slightly, immediately after vaping but went down before I was actually let go. Just a personal observation and not a scientific or medical study bear in mind.

Yes, very likely varies by person. I have high blood pressure controlled by medication but it has gone down and medications lowered since stopping smoking vs vaping.

I have a monitor and take the bp 2 or 3 times a week as suggested by MD. I have taken BP, chained vaped and taken BP and didn't notice any real change. But I also only use 3 mg nic.

The question for me is how long has it been since you quit smoking? when we quit smoking we tend to eat alot more, and sometimes it's not the best of choices. This can have a direct impact on your blood pressure. Food just taste better after you quit smoking so we eat more stuff given. You might also be getting too much nic, it will constrict your blood vessels making them tighter. If your new to vaping and just quit smoking it could be withdrawals that is jacking up your blood pressure. Let's face it, the transition can be very stressful in so many ways for some time. If you have been vaping for some time now and don't note a change in diet, then it's probably too high of nic. If i was you i would go to the store and buy a blood pressure device so you can take your own blood pressure. Keep a diary throughout the day of your blood pressure and cut back on nic. See if your BP improves as you cut back. If it doesn't then it's not nic, though it's still not helping the matter because it does constrict blood vessels. Rest assured, the nic is playing a role in the matter but may not be the cause, it's just a contributor. Nicotine is no friend to high blood pressure. Your blood pressure is not high, but it's high enough to draw attention to figure out what's causing it. It's best to catch the causes early on before it becomes a problem. With you it might just be a matter of lowering your nic and/or reevaluating your life style.

Nicotine is a vasoconstrictor and it WILL increase your blood pressure IN THE SHORT TERM. As an old fart, I take my blood pressure every morning and every evening. I take it first thing in the morning, before I've had a vape, and every evening. In the evening I wait about an hour after a vaping session and my blood pressure reads normal after the nicotine effects have had a chance to abate. However, if I take it within much less than an hour after vaping, it will be 20-30 points higher than it would be otherwise. If you don't believe me, test it yourself. Wait an hour after having a vape and take your blood pressure. Go vape for five or ten minutes, then take it again. Your blood pressure will be higher, almost without fail. Of ourse, it depends on how many hits you take, the nic level you're vaping and your baseline BP. Like I said, I'm an old fart.

Right...BP can vary through out the day.
Just going into the doctors office can elevate BP. (anxiety, stress)
My BP is typically low. I chain vape before going into the cardiologist, BP reads normal.
Unruly children are also known to increase your BP temporarily...

I've been vaping for 3 years. I have checkups every 6 months because of cholesterol. About 2 years ago I noticed a spike in my blood pressure. From what used to be about 120/75 to 135/85. Every time I went in my BP was up. Couldn't figure it out. One day I was reading that caffeine within an hour of a BP reading will spike the reading. Well duh, I had been having a cup of tea right before I went to the doctor for my checkup. So, this last time, I skipped the tea before my office visit and my BP was right back to 120/75.

Like everything there's a trade off. Yes, nicotine can cause temporary constriction of your arteries and raise your blood pressure. Weigh that off against the carbon monoxide you get from combustible tobacco and then take a pick at which will affect the delivery of oxygen to your heart/body more. For some reason that significant CO level in smokers doesn't make it into talk about harm reduction, and that's a pretty good one all by itself. Check out this article (reliable source) to help put things in perspective. Another Reason Not To Smoke
