...they would all just tell you to forget the blu and get a revolver elite. For some reason they were all over the revolver reps jock.

That's because the Revolver Elite is the exact same size as the Blu with a better atomizer, better batteries, a better PCC, slightly higher capacity carts, better vapor production, more flavor, empties carts consistently and their reps tend to offer excellent customer service, especially compared to the CS at blu.

Whenever I talk to anybody about e-cigs out in the real world I always recommend the Revolver Elite for people who really feel compelled to start with something analog sized unless they are an occasional social smoker, in which case I recommend the blu. The little foil sealed carts are actually a plus for people who might take 2 months to get through a couple dozen carts.

All that being said, I just ordered and eGo style PV, which will hopefully be delivered before the end of the week because I'm tired of super-minis. (Although I'll probably still use my elite at work and social situations)

The common complaints of blu are small carts that don't last long or function well and really short battery life. pretty much all super mini's have the same issues. So it would be the same problems just better vapor production.

When I first started with blu, I was a member of the blu forums. They were the absolute worst. Nobody would give any real help, they would all just tell you to forget the blu and get a revolver elite. For some reason they were all over the revolver reps jock. That's how I found ecf and became a member here. Here at ecf is where I actually received help and was able to learn all about e cigs and not just the stupid overpriced revolver crap.

The Blu forum is hysterical, I've literally never seen a more useless forum where literally everybody tells you to buy something else. They really need to get mods over there or something because it's become the Revolver forum. At least the users on the Volcano site are actually excited and willing to help noobs with their Volcano products.

Okay guys. I get the Blu Bashing... but we are straying again.

Anyway, do the Magma parts fit on the Blu? Also, do the Volcano batteries charge in the Blu pack?

The Magma is a 510, so yeah it would fit the blu. No idea if volcano batteries would charge in the blu pack, i would assume they would being they are both l88b batts.

Any 510 battery will work on the blu or volcano(blu and volcano are the same model, just different branding, and magma is an overpriced branded 510). All volcano and blu batteries are interchangeable. Volcano batteries charge in the blu pack. They are exactly the same model.

If you would decide to get a 510 battery for longer battery life, you'll need to buy a charger as well. Volcano/Blu and Magma chargers use different polarities, and you'll fry your battery. Plus, a 510- battery is too fat to fit into a Blu/Volcano charger anyway. Screw that. If you want ANY 510 parts, just go to this link: Tasty Vapor

A Magma battery costs $12. You need at least a USB charger. That's $5. If you want to charge without a computer, that's another $9. The least you're gonna spend is $17 just for a battery and the ability to charge it. With the wall charger, you're at $26. For a dollar less than the 2nd option and only $5 more than the first, you can get yourself two full 510 E-cigs, plus a charger and some carts. Don't waste your money on the Magma brand.

Get yourself a 510 kit. It's only $25.00. You'll want some juice to refill your carts. Get that from USA Made Vapor Renu. It's $7.00 for a 30ml bottle which is the cheapest I've ever seen. They have a crapload of flavors and options. I vape only Vapor Renu juice, and I HIGHLY recommend them. All their juices that I've tried are excellent.

Hey Bert, why's it garbage? What's wrong with it?

Yeah, like Bert already said, there is a 510 PCC. I've seen them run $20 $40, but I wouldn't pay over $25. You can find them at cignot or madvapes. If you're concerned about spending a bunch of money though, keep in mind that 510 batteries are still pretty small compared to, say, an ego. So you will still have to charge them fairly often. It's just not nearly as bad as the blu for battery life. You can also get a mega battery. It's longer and holds more mah, so it will last longer. Here's a picture of one next to a regular battery: http://www.madvapes.com/thumbnail.asp?file=assets/images/P1080020.JPG&maxx=300&maxy=0

Also, keep in mind that because a 510 battery will work on a blu atomizer, that also means that a blu battery will work on a 510 atomizer. I don't know about you, but for me, leaving the house with 2 fully charged 510 batteries and my blu PCC filled with batteries and cartridges works perfectly fine for me. Most of the time I don't even run out of power with both of my 510 batteries, but if I do I can always swap 'em out for a blu battery. And with the blu PCC, I can always recharge 'em. That's something you could consider doing. I'm still planning on getting a 510 PCC for convenience, but this works for now.

Well, I got the 510 Cartomizers from ecigsupply.com today. I filled them with the 18mg Menthol juice that I got from them as well. I used the "condom method" for filling.

The taste is much better and the vapor is smoother then with the Blu carts. MUCH smoother! The amount of vapor is also about twice as much as the best vapor I ever got from a Blu cart. As well, vaping is much closer to the feeling of smoking. NOW I understand how people could have completely switched to vapor!

I haven't had a real test of the battery life with the Blu batteries yet but I have been vaping with the new cartos for about 40 minutes and the battery is still going. I have the other one charged for when this one dies.

The cartos don't easily fit in the Blu pack but I think I can mod it enough to get about 3 in there. I don't think it will fully close with the condoms on them though.

I will keep everyone up to date as my day goes on. I am going to try just vaping for the rest of the day.

Alright, cool dude, good luck. Let me know what you decide on that 510 kit from Tasty Vapor. If I hadn't already bought another 510 kit elsewhere, I'd buy one myself. In fact, whenever I decide to get some spare parts, I'll probably just get a kit. The cheapest I've seen was $18 for a regular atty and battery or $19 for a mega battery and regular atty. The whole tasty vapor kit is just 6 or 7 dollars more, I get an EXTRA set of batteries and atties, plus another charger... There's like no reason not to buy the tasty vapor kit. It's such a great deal. I wish I'd seen it sooner, but at the same time I'm also happy that I have my copper batteries(although i don't know what difference the color really makes, I just like copper).

It is amazing the life you get out of the carto compared to a cart. The carto is huge compared to the carts that I got from Blu but they fill up with about 20 drops of juice. Also, my batteries seem to last longer with the carto. I think it is because I don't have to puff as long in order to get a good vapor.

I found getting rid of all the little "fiberglass" threads from my atty's helped get rid of the burned flavor. I like to take the bridge/wick out too, and just drip on to the coil. It makes it easier to clean, and keep an eye on build up. I must agree that the L88b (blu/volcano) atty seems to burn at a lower temp than the big boys, because I don't get nasty flavor unless it's really dry, unlike the 510 which I get 3-5 good tasting hits then... YIKES... what is that toxic burning taste?? Even when I pulled the bridge/wick out I would get that from 510. I am not into throat hit/burned taste of high voltage vaping personally, I like to taste the flavors.
I guess it all comes down to how patient are you willing to be, to take the time to learn how to use your PV correctly to suit your personal taste/needs. After buying and trying just about every PV style out there, I am going back to my L88b because it's been consistently giving me good vapor and tastes the best. I like the fact that the atty fits all my 510/ego stuff too. If you want to drip, that is the best way to enjoy a PV IMO and I got a drip tip from Volcano and was wondering if it was the same as the 306 tip. I am about to try the ceramic cartomizers when they get here, after hearing such good things about how the juice flavor is so good with them. I don't know if any of this info is useful, but if you already have a blu/volcano and you are not getting good results using the carts that come with it, get some juice and try dripping, and be sure to clean or at least blow out your atty regularly to keep it working properly. If you are brave enough, try taking the mesh/bridge/wick out. I know there are threads here about doing that and also youtube videos about it (I even posted one for the blu/volcano atty) ** when dripping use only 2-3 drops max at a time so you don't flood your atty and possibly ruin your battery.

good luck to you... what ever you decide.

Well, I have been using my new setup for a few days now and also trying different things. I have come up with the following:

  • One 510 carto can last me almost all day if I fill it properly. I would use around 5 - 6 of the pre-filled flavor carts that came with my Blu Starter Pack in the same amount of time and I didn't use them as much.
  • The carto has a MUCH better flavor then the Blu carts while also being smoother. It is also a stronger flavor. I think this is because the Blu carts are drier and that is what is causing the harsher th with the carts.
  • The carto is wider and longer then the Blu carts but not enough to make your e-cig look or feel awkward. It is noticeable though. Although, the people I have demoed my e-cig didn't realize anything unless I explained the carto. It doesn't look awkward and almost looks like it could have been designed that way.
  • I am very impressed with the carto I selected. I used the "condom fill method" and filled 2 cartos without a mess on my first try. Even as a newbe, it took only a couple of minutes to fill both carts, from opening to cleanup. The second one I filled on Thursday wasn't used until today. The condoms kept it preserved pretty well but
there was a little drying that occurred. It was still an "all day" carto.
  • I tried dripping the juice directly on the Blu atty and using one of the "blank" carts that came with the kit for the mouth-piece. This worked excellently and even beats using the carto as far as vapor production. It isn't something that you can do while driving so the cartos are great for the car.
  • Also, using a "dead" flavored cart from the Blu kit when dripping gives a pretty decent flavor while still producing a ton of vapor and it eliminated the harshness of the Blu carts. It was actually impressive and gives you a use for the carts that came with the kit. I was just going to toss them. I wonder if the harshness of the carts has to do with them drying out because their flavor becomes stronger and smoother when using them while dripping.
  • Since almost all of the 510 parts are larger then the original Blu parts (both in width and length), they last longer but will not easily fit in the Blu PCC. Be ready to make modifications to the PCC in order to carry some extra cartos and attys (if you use a different atty). I found that the original atty from Blu actually worked fine for dripping. Understand, I am new to all of this and I know there are much better attys for dripping. I am just saying that the design of the atty is fine for trying out dripping and is designed so even a newbe like me can do it without flooding the battery.
  • If using the Blu atty for dripping, be prepared to replace them. Flavors seem to stay on the atty as if the juices are getting sucked into it and drying. This gives me a sneaking suspicion that it isn't going to be easy to clean and will need to be replaced quite often. It is great for "dripping for dummies" but there are many better attys out there for dripping.

I think I did the right thing in getting the most out of my Blu kit and not returning it. Once I get my 510 or KR880, I will have a nice kit to try new things on. It really is nicely put together and since I know it isn't the best, I have less fear in trying new things on it.

Also, I am very happy with the things I have tried. I have been transitioning slowly but I am getting more and more comfortable with vapor every day. The cartos and dripping are making the vapor feel more like smoke and that is helping with the transition.

I am still playing around and getting used to vaping so I am no expert in any of this. I am just glad that I was able to take a kit which I thought was a huge mistake in getting and, for only a few bucks, make it into a wonder tool. It is something that I can use while transitioning into better vapor tools without breaking the bank now. Without it, I would still be smoking all the time!

^^^ That is really great news David! Congrats, I was one of the haters that said return it. I am glad you didn't, I didn't know that 510 cartos would fit when I returned mine or I might have kept it. The PCC with the blu was great.

I am glad I have some advice if anyone ask me about my blu experience now other than return it (though that still might be the best bet for some).

Have a good one.

The problem with returning something after you purchase it is that you are out the $50-$60 that you invested while the RMA process is occurring. Usually, RMAing something will take about a month before you get the money back. Often, longer. There really isn't anything wrong with the Blu kits. They aren't a scam. They are just overpriced outdated technology. There are better units out there and often are lower priced. Not many are as nice and complete a kit (except for Volcano maybe but I think they are just as pricey).

I have a friend who also got a Blu pack about a month before me and has been praising it (which is how I got interested in e-cigs). I went over his house Saturday night and he kept bumming smokes off of me so I knew there was something wrong. I noticed that he was constantly playing with the prefilled carts to get the vapor working better. He was calling this "modding the cart". I gave him a carto filled with the juice that I got. He immediately had me go to his computer and build his shopping cart with the items he needed. Considering he was going through about 50 carts a week, this is going to save him a lot of money and he will be able to stop fidgeting with those dumb carts.

Don't feel bad about returning yours. It sounds like that was the right choice for you. It isn't like the Blu is right for everyone and for me it is just temporarily going to be my main unit. I just didn't understand how returning it was the only answer. For my friend, he loves his Blu but he really doesn't know anything about e-cigs and thinks they are all about the same. So didn't I until I came here for help. Now, I am debating between the KR880 and 510. If I stick with vapor, I will eventually get a Super T because those bad-boys look awesome and if you get mugged you can just smack them upside the head with your brass Super T! ;-) Even after I get a better e-cig, I am going to keep my Blu for testing new juices/cartos/etc.

Congrats, Lord Davon. I'm glad you got the most out of your blu instead of returning it.

By the way, as far as the RMA thing goes, I don't know how it works with an entire kit, but I don't see why it would take much longer. Anyway, when I returned my pack and batteries(two separate occasions), it only took exactly one week from the day I took them to the post office til the day they arrived in my mailbox.

I'd say if you already have 510 cartos, get the 510. Also, I don't know of ANY kit you can get for just 25 bucks for any model e-cig. And sine parts are compatible with your blu, if need be, you can swap out parts. But keep in mind, I know nothing about KR-anything. All I've used are the blu, the 510, and "firelight," which if I remember correctly is a 403. It wasn't much better, if at all, than the blu. Unless someone here has used 510s and KRs that can offer a reason why the KR is better, I say get a 510 unless you want to go right to an ego or some other bigass thing. That's all your choice. Whatever you do, good luck and happy vaping.

The thing I always think is funny, is when people refer to certain mods as being huge. For instance, I have the joker av. And while it may look like a fairly big unit... consider that I was always carrying around 1-2 packs of 100's cigs and 2 lighters because I would always go through them so quickly or I'd lose one. I was always walking around with full pockets when I was smoking. Now I'm able to put my mod into a holster and clip it to one of my belt loops so I don't even notice its there. Or the example of my buddy who carries with him a pouch of tobacco, carton of tubes, and a injector to roll his own... all of that in a grocery bag wherever he goes.
