Welcome simple jack, I see you are in Washington also. Once you find the kit you like, I recommend getting allot of juice. From my findings the average price for juice in smoke shops in this state is 5 dollars per mil, that's before 10% sales tax (depend on county).

Most everything localy is always a ripoff, haha..

Hey Simplejack, I'm pretty much in the same boat as you. Been at this a little over 3 weeks and still pretty lost. There are SO many choices out there!

I currently have the Blu and although it's working for me right now I need something more. I heard that the Blu cartomizers work with the 510 batteries so I bought a 510 passthrough, a 510 XL battery (3 x more power than the Blu), a 510 charger, and some liquid to refill the Blu cartomizers. Once I get that, I figure I can mix and match with other 510 parts and maybe move on to the eGo, which has a much bigger battery.

I vape before work, as much as I can get away with at work, and all night after work. A cartomizer under these circumstances will last me at least 1.5 days, but I read that once you taste the burning stuff that it is toast. Sure enough, I opened one up and...it was just wrong.

I'm hoping to refill mine to save some bucks so I'm using them a little less now. My batteries need to be charged about 2x EACH per day...at least. I don't use the PCC to charge because I don't trust it - but I like that I can keep all my goodies in there together. Plus, it looks cool.)

Good luck and keep at it!!! It takes some getting used to, but it's so very well worth it.

ok.. this is what I got put together so far. Does this look good for a month long setup? A pack of smokes usualy last me about 2 days.

510 Mega Mega Kit with no Box

Qty. 2 510 XL CLEAROMIZER 2.4-2.6 OHM

Pure Orange

Cherry

Lemon

Green Apple

$74.95

I want to buy from a place that I can navigate the website easily and has the most amount of accessories with low shipping cost. this one seems to be the best I have seen so far. Lots of 510 parts and only a small few part for other models. I think with the 510 I would also have better chance on finding something locally if needed.

Almost ready to just say ....... it.. starting to look like this might cost more and be a extreme hassle keeping these things working and always having to buy parts for it.. I'm starting to have flashbacks of my Nitro R/C hobby... about the time I would start seeing the saving, wouldn't the batteries have worn out and I would have to buy 2 more batteries and that would just eat up my savings?

My smoking cost is about $25 per month with cheap smokes and $70 per month with the kind I enjoy.
I buy tubes and roll my own.

My understanding is that 510 models all work together. I'm a noob though, so I could be mistaken - could someone please confirm? The only thing that might be the case is that you couldn't use the mega 510 cartomizers on a regular 510 battery.

Both kits look pretty sweet. The blank cartridges for the Riva kit have the stuffing in them but if you refill one with a different flavor it will mix with the old...unless you put in new stuffing. With either kit, as long as you have the liquid you should be good to go. I don't know anything about the clearomizers but now I want one. haha Seriously though, I don't think you can go wrong with either one.

It may cost some money up front, and you may - like many - want to upgrade, stock up, change it up, etc. But no matter what, it's so much better to go this route than to continue to smoke the regular cigs.

You can use mega cartos on a regular 510 battery... you just can't use anything low resistance on them.

What size juices are you planning to get? I would get small ones till you figure out what you like and don't like. If it was me I would mix it up also rather than get all fruit flavors.

You don't have to replace batteries as often as atomizers or cartomizers. They're li-ion so like a cell phone battery they should have decent longevity and it's not that likely that they would go out at the same time. If you learn to DIY your juice it gets even cheaper. If not it might be borderline on you saving money... unless you consider how much you won't have to worry about spending on medical bills down the road. No one can make that decision but you.

Edit: I did the math and so far (there's 3 of us that switched at once) we're spending about 27:00 a week. But we could spend less part of that expense I'd say 10-12 a week is trying new juices. So that would bring it down to about 15 a week per person. Some weeks it might be more others it might be less. I should also note the place I've been ordering my juice from sell their 30ml bottles for the same price madvapes charges for their 60ml. We're getting ready to try madvapes juice on our next order.

No wonder the OP is confused! People try to help, but mis information still remains mis information!!!

510's are most certainly available as a two piece: pre-filled cartomizer + 510 battery, available from a lot of vendors. (Sherid, you are an ultra member? )

100 mAh Ego? (Rob-o)

The problem with all this is that I have seen people start out with e cigs and rush back in frustration to the store to buy analogs and barely taking the time stopping to dump their e cigs in the trash. The Internet is confusing enough as it is when looking up e cigs since the lies that abound are legend with tons of misdirection and falsehoods. I just passed the one year mark analog free after +3 decades of 1.5 pack/day Red; if anything, I want to see other people succeed.

Only a dimwit would take up ecigs as a hobby; we are here to quit smoking so there is some sense of urgency to all this. In fact, the decisions we take here can be truly life saving.

I do not care if people call me a tyrant but if you are going to open your mouth to venture an opinion, at least get your facts straight. Ecigs are complicated enough without asking new users to put up with your incompetence and stupidity.

If I sound upset, I am. I just had a ex girlfriend diagnosed with lung cancer. She tried quitting with e cigs 3 months before I did, and gave up in disgust. We never got that close, but it was still someone I knew. Her failure certainly preyed on my mind when my daughter put a gun to my head and asked me to quit smoking as her MBA gift. I was thinking that my only hope was to lock myself up in a clinic to break a lifelong habit.

I certainly have made my fair share of expensive mistakes, but I kept at it. It has succeeded for me.

So if you are going to open your mouth, gets your facts straight. We are not here to proliferate ourselves, but to share information and learn.:glare:
Sometimes, e smokers just like to spout off. This is clearly one of those times. You say, "510's are most certainly available as a two piece: pre-filled cartomizer + 510 battery, available from a lot of vendors. (Sherid, you are an ultra member? )" as if we did not already know that one can buy cartomizers for virtually any unit. That doesn't mean that they were originally designed that way. I stopped using 510's over a year ago with or without cartomizers. I did that in favor of KR808's which are actually made to be two piecers. So, please keep your sarcasm to yourself. I have tried nearly every model out there, and I have settled on the 2 piecers, thus my humble opinion as to what model I would suggest. You can make your own suggestions without resorting to being a smart ....

Good grief... I have gotten to the point to where I feel as though I am fairly knowledgable and sortof know what I'm doing and after reading this thread I am totally confused again!!

So here's my 2 cents to add to the madness...

Don't buy the BLU. It looks like a good deal but it's a waste of money in the long run. You will be dissatisfied with it within a week or 2.

Do buy a KR808d-1 from V4L. The KR8 is a great place to start. I'm not saying that the KR8 will be your last purchase. However, it is simple to use, V4L has EXCELLENT customer service there would be no need to worry about "keeping it working" since they immediately replace anything that breaks, it is very much like an analog cig in size, I still use mine all day every day at work.

After you have gotten use to your KR8 and it's cartomizers. And after you have given up on trying to save money. Then start investing in some 510 threaded goodies. Maybe a box mod, maybe a Riva, whatever I'm just saying save this for next month.

OK wait a minute... I just looked back at the original post and it says you already ordered the BLU's. Sorry bout that, I told you this thread had me confused!! So if you've already ordered the BLU you just need to wait on it to come and see how it goes! See how you like it and what you need. For accessories for your BLU go here: Volcano E-Cigarette Accessories Online Vendor The stuff on this page is model l88b same as the BLU.

Good luck with your BLU! I still have mine, and I still use it sometimes. Mainly when I'm drinking beer. Don't know why I just like the BLU tobacco flavor with beer.

As for juice for a beginner btw... You can't go wrong with cherry. There's a reason cherry is the most popular flavor for everytrhing from slushys to medicine!

At least $60 per month.. that's pretty expensive.. Was hoping for like $25 per month would be more appealing..

here s my cheapest option: The 808 Black 808-D Kit
So for now just get some 808D CLEAROMIZER2.6-2.8 OHM Not sure which Ohm rating I should get though.. A needle and bottle so I can refill..?
Nevermind.. they are out of stock on the clear ones..

The main problem with this kit is it doesn't have a car charger.. If I was out for a all day drive, I don't wanna worry about dead batteries.

Get this along with the kit.. problem solved... except you'll have to bring your charger back and forth.

It could go down though. We tried the clearos (well they crack easy so I had to order more cartomizers this week). We got two batteries and two attys each (in case we didn't like the cartos but we did like them). Most weeks you shouldn't have to buy equipment.

I smoked almost two packs a day and I go through between 20 and 30ml of juice per week sooo.... I could if I quit trying new flavors and buying extra equipment go two or 3 weeks on what 15 plus shipping if I got the 60mls from madvapes. I've been getting 30ml for the same price plus some 10 mls (at 6 a piece) of new flavors to try with almost every order.

Then if you start mixing your own juice (if you're willing to mess with it) as I understand it its even cheaper.

Edit: I am definitely saving money I spent 70 a week on cigs so I don't really bat an eye at spending 15-30 on this. I just require myself to keep my vaping habit lower in cost than my smoking habit.

Simplejack, just a note from a real newbie. I used to smoke 2 packs a day (I have my own business so I smoked in the office, which added to the total smokage). Anyway, I started vaping and only go through 10 ml. of juice a week (18 mg); that's about $6.50. I'm still on my first atomizer (which doesn't seem to be in danger of burning out anytime soon) but I ordered a couple of extras to keep on hand for when the burnout does occur. I use a Joye 510 which was a gift from a client (a doctor who understands that vaping is definitely better than smoking). Overall what I'm trying to say is a) too much information will just make something simple seem more complicated than it has to be, b) vaping is cheaper than smoking and c) I believe you will only stick with vaping if you really want to quit smoking. It isn't hard because it's so close to actually smoking BUT there is still some psychological stuff you will have to muscle through. Still, if quitting smoking cold turkey takes 100% will power quitting in favor of vaping takes, IMO, about 10% willpower. If a weak willed person like me can do it, so can you!

I spend very little these days, when I first started I spent a lot buying different juices and some mods. Once I found what I liked it was all over, now I probably spend 10-20USD/mo. Well, probably more, I do still like to experiment if I see something new to try, but for what I actually need it's cheap. I use the MAP tanks (I'm lazy, refilling every couple days is nice), takes at least a month or two before I replace the CE2 inside (and that costs like 2 bucks). I mix my own juice, 30ml lasts me 1-2 weeks and costs a couple bucks to make... really quite cheap.

While I can understand you being upset, and yes lots of people put information out there that may not be the most accurate, you do need to watch your tone so you don't cross the line of personal attacks and insults. We have compiled a long list of accurate information, those are in many of the stickied threads as well as the ECF library and vaping guides.
