I am having trouble getting my blue foam cut to the right size and am creating cuts that cause me a very hard draw. I once saw a
thread or post where someone had pics of how to cut it just right, and I cannot locate the post again. I'm getting pretty desparate...anyone know which post Im talking about HELP PLEASE!
Hi terrie,
Looks like a lot of the pictures from the Blue Foam thread are deleted. And there were a lot of variations, and you didn't say which one but basically a good one that I know works is the one where you cut the foam about 1.5 x both sides of the opening of the cart. And then squeeze both side and insert it.
However, the material in the cartridge should not affect airflow or cause 'hard draws'. The air doesn't move through the filler or through that part of the cartridge. It moves around the cart through the air channels in the side of the cart next to where the filler is.
There are a few things that can cause a hard draw - The airholes on the side of the atomizer is blocked; the flow through the atomizer past the coil is obstructed by a build up on or around the coil or the air channels along the side of the cartridge are blocked in some manner.
The way I check this is I take the cart off and blow and draw through the mouthpiece - there may be
juice in there and if so blow that out into a paper towel. On rare occasions, with certain type of cartridges, some internal piece has come loose and you'll feel that moving when you blow and drag on the mouthpiece - if that's the case, throw it away and get a new cartridge.
But if the cartridge flows well, then it's something about the atomizer. What I do is soak the atomizers in PGA or Vodka (not rubbing or isopropyl alcohol - that can leave a film and it isn't for human consumption) High proof clear, vodka works well. Soak for a half hour, no more. The clear vodka should get yellow from dissolving any debris. When done, blow it out from both ends into a paper towel until you're not getting any more moisture. This should now be as free flowing as the cartridge. Let it dry, put a few drops on the atty bridge and vape.
