I've been trying many of the blue foam mods for my 510. I got the rite-size U sleeves. I've tried the slug, the dart, the loose straw with a foam plug on top, etc. I STILL can't get it quite right. Always seems like a dry(hot) hit

Can you please give a few details on the particular mod that worked for you? What diameter straw? How long? What are the dimensions of the foam? PG or VG?

Thanks for helping n00b! Eager to experiment to get this right, but a n00b nevertheless! :)

PS - In my quest for a decent vape, I bought blue foam, aquaclear 50 foam, blue scrubbies, cocktail straws (2mm in think), bendy-straws(larger diameter than cocktail).... All kinds of stuff mentioned in the cart mod threads. I have the gear; now I just need direction! LOL

Thanks

PPS - I'm gonna clean my attys tonight, as well. Maybe a build-up of charred crap is preventing me from vaping nirvana....

Do you use old pre-filleds or balnk carts for this type of mod? I'm a bit all at sea when it comes to this stuff :)

Blank carts. A pre-filled cart with the poly filler removed is a blank cart. Somehow, the blue foam wicks the proper amount of juice to the atty while preventing flooding and leaking.

Do a search on "foam" and "B.F.D. cart mod" for more info...

sorry, can't link... :(

The first time I tried the blue foam I had a full 801 cartridge completely drain into the atty when the foam got stuck to the bridge.

I don't know if it's the difference in the designs of the two PV's, but I haven't had that problem (yet) on my 510. I am careful not to twist the cart once inserted. I heard that twisting the cart while it's attached to the atty can contribute to the foam being pulled out of the cart....

I have read the "Version 2.0 Slug/Plug" thread 50 times. I consider myself fairly handy. I have been able to recreate what eclypse posted, but I always get the dry atty problem. If I make the plug smaller, I'm sure it'll leak/flood. Of course, I will keep experimenting; I'm just looking for the other solutions that others have found with this mod....

I use the Rite Size U blue foam and I just cut it 1/2" long x 1/4" wide, fold it over and insert it in the top of the cart. I don't even measure anymore, I eyeball it. It works better than any filler mod I've tried. I don't get any burnt taste or flooded atties with it. I have noticed that it works better the second time I fill it than the first. I always fill the cart to the lip, insert the plug and put a few drops on the top of the plug, but the first time I refill it, it seems to work best. I guess it works best when the foam is completely saturated with juice? Still no complaints on it, even with a freshly cut plug.

I still like the PTB double folded and shredded best.

Um.. "and shreaded"??? Haven't seen that part of the LPTB mod. Explain pls? I've seen the roll it up and fill the cart mod, as well as the roll it up, fold it in 1/2, and insert only to the 'shelf' mod.

Can you clarify what combo you're using? Just curious. I may try that one as well 'cuz so many folks seem to love it.

For now tho', the blue foam mod is working well for me. Still waiting on my 1st bunch of flavors. I'll post when I get them and tell ya how well the foam mod works for flavor.
