When the jet landed on the aircraft carrier, all of the passengers were getting off; they stood from their seats. Blue had slept all the way, Katz had gazed out the window, her mind on Darling and her family and how they had to leave so fast. She worried as it was so sudden, when the door opened she got off first frustrated.
Blue was waiting to be the last off and she watched Katz storm
through the entrance as others were awaiting them. Blue got off just in time to see Mandy hug her husband and kids, she went with them. Katz went to the dinner area and later spoke with Angel.
Mandy made it to their room, and the door opened for them; the TV was on. “You have to watch this.” Said her husband and she saw the red tape on the bottom of the screen and “Breaking News” in bold on the TV, BBC was listed on the side. Mandy sat down and listened. “And just as soon as the mysterious city appeared, it is now confirmed that it is gone. All the buildings look to have been replaced to the original, the streets are all back. We have received calls from people affected and are going to see if any will talk to us.”
The journalist went on with the camera crew from their helicopter, and came to an elderly man. “Can we talk to you sir?” “Of course.” He said back. “Can you tell us what happened and how do you feel?” The man looked at them and said. “It was pleasant to be honest, a beautiful city; no one I knew was complaining. We had the choice to leave if we wished and none of us did. The lifestyle was modern but calmer. I do not recall any crime as we were there. It seemed magical if that makes
sense.”
He continued. “Then one day there seemed to be some type of issue, you saw guards all around, especially around one house in which a man was heard to have been attacked. There were rumors of him being poisoned and this caused a big issue. Alarms were sounded and the city went on lockdown; though you could still go.”
The blonde woman, her hair in a bun asked. “Can you describe the city?” The man paused for a moment clearly thinking. “It was different, I had never seen a city made for the strict purpose of food for all. At the very top at the city center, there were roses, flowers of every kind, but fruit trees and gardens with green beans, peas; you name it. Every type of plant and animal and a strange; how do I say it. It was like the city had all types of weather, from one spot of the city to another the temperature even the humidity changed.”
“The queen of the city spoke to us all as best she could her name Darling, she had powers; I know this sounds stupid. But one day she created snow for one section, on a sunny bright day. Again I am not sure what all happened but just as fast as it all appeared it suddenly was gone; it felt a little tense to say the least.”
Mandy watched as her husband sat beside her on the sofa, purple with four extra pillows, her daughter sat between Mandy’s legs as she mindlessly played with her hair listening. “So what happened?” Mandy turned to him and said. “Count was attacked, but we apparently were having our memories erased and going through the same days over and over, a continuous loop. Anjel somehow figured it out and “awoke” as she said. She pleaded for us to go as she felt danger for us.”
“Why would someone poison Count? And go after all of you?” “I am not sure.” She responded and then asked. “So what has gone on while we were visiting?” Her husband said back. “The island was attacked as well as this ship.” “What?!” He nodded. “We are told the ship was hit by torpedoes, and that lives have been lost here and on the island; they are not sure who yet or how many.”
“That is terrible, who would do such a thing?” as they looked at each other he said. “I am glad you're back and safe though.” She kissed him, they hugged and she laid her head on his shoulder as they continued to watch the news.
After securing the nuclear plant and fixing the wire that was severed, the rain was pouring. Shawn did find the jeep with the keys still in it; no one had ever thought of security on the island to this degree; until now. Angel and John assisted Amlowe onto the passenger seat, she slowly got into the jeep as the rain fell. “How are you feeling?” asked Angel in a louder pitch to be heard over the wind and rain.
“I feel very sore, my chest hurts.” The rest got into the jeep, and Shawn pressed on the accelerator slowly trying to creep forward for Amlowe, but needed more traction. He had to give the jeep more gas to get unstuck as the sand was getting drenched, pools of water were forming and the hole was filled quickly.
The jeep lurched forward finally and Shawn had to steer right quickly as the jeep wanted to turn left, Amlowe grunted. “Sorry.” he placed his hand over to her and held her back, like a child as he saw a dip. They all lunged forward and Amlowe stated. “Maybe walking would be better.” Angel behind Amlowe had her hands on her shoulders. “I don’t think you are going to walk back, we could carry you; but it would take longer.”
Shawn finally got a good pace going faster than walking and smoother. “Some day in the future we might want to build a road. He came to the runway and moved onto it and from there the drive back was smooth.
The lights of the city center started to show a little through the rain and the headlights finally shone on the jet sitting on the runway. He slowed down and made sure they could pass around it, without hitting any part of the jet. They finally made it back and dripping wet soaked to the bone.
The wind cut through them and Shawn parked the jeep and turned it off. They all got off and helped Amlowe, they made it to the center and opened the door for Amlowe, she carefully walked inside and they were dripping water all over the floor. One of the nurses turned and looking, quickly grabbed towels and came over.
“We need a wheelchair, or a roller bed.” Shawn dried off with a towel just enough to not drip a ton and took off his shoes, water coming out. He left as the others carefully dried Amlowe and made sure she was soon out of her wet clothes and wrapped in blankets. Shawn came back with a roller bed, as there were many.
“Okay can you get on yourself?” Amlowe nodded yes and slowly got on and it took them to help her to lay back. “Let’s go get you an x-ray and see what is going on.” They followed her. But as they came to the x-ray room, the nurse said. “Please have some privacy, if you could clean up the mess and find something warm for her to eat, soup would be best; we need to get her body temperature back to normal.
“Your body is under stress.” The nurse took the bandage off carefully and could see her chest, blue and purple had set it. “Yup it looks like you have broken ribs, let me get you a shot of pain killer.” She went to the cabinet and took out a bottle and carefully filled a needle with the liquid. “This will work much faster for you than swallowing pills which will be hard right now anyway.”
Amlowe nodded yes and the nurse swabbed her left shoulder and injected the needled and gave her the pain killer. The nurse took out the needle and held her cotton swab on her for a moment and then cleaned it with alcohol and covered it with a bandage.
As the nurse worked on getting the x-ray the drug started to take effect and she could see Amlowe’s eyes getting heavy, the pain hidden and her body relaxed. “That is much better.” The nurse after some time came back and told Amlowe. “Well the good news is none of your ribs are actually broken, but you do have three with mini fractures.”
She continued. “So bed rest and bandaging and you should be good to go in a few days, slowly of course.” Amlowe said back. “I can promise you I will rest.” The nurse smiled at her. “I am sure you will.” She opened the door and Angel and Shawn were outside waiting. They had dressed into dry clothes and cleaned up the water on the floor, a mop beside the entrance, wet towels piled on the floor.
The nurse asked Angel to help and they rolled her across the smooth floor to a room, the temperature was a pleasant 75. “Okay one more time.” The two helped her up, trying to keep the pressure of her chest and she moved to the bed, Shawn brought in a bowl of hot chicken noodle soup and set it on the table beside her, with a spoon, and a cup of water.
“Thank you.” She said and the nurse opened the curtains, the rain continued to pour; but with the sound and effects. Amlowe was soon about to fall asleep. “If you need anything, press this button okay?” Amlowe nodded as the nurse placed two blankets on top of her. Angel smiled at her and went out, they left the door slightly open. Amlowe fell asleep before eating.
John got dry and changed as well, his wife heard them and came to help clean up as well. “How are you?” She asked. “As good as can be expected, and you?” She said back. “Good thank you, are you tired?” John nodded yes. After the others showed with John they moved his son to a room alone with a chair, sofa and a rollaway bed.
His son was already asleep and looked comfortable so quietly they got out the roller and put pillows on it for John’s wife and John laid down on the soffa with a few blankets and two pillows. “Good night.” The rain helped them to all fall asleep.
