Here is the latest creation of mine. This is another aluminum mod that was formed using the rotary table/tailstock method, but made to fit a 26mm battery. The differing diameters at each end made this extremely time consuming but I am happy with the results. Final dimensions came out to 3.062" x 1.980" x 1.175". The .770" x .500" atty is scratch built, with a direct connection from positive post to the beryllium/copper/silver contact leaf- no 510. The posts are offset, with the same spacing as a Magma. :)

Like the 18650 mod earlier, the radii are "facets" indexed at regular intervals. This interval was also used on the atty's top cap. I am getting great flavor out of the small chamber. Very similar inside to the great mods that CC is making- neo magnets with a PEEK insulated button.
Thanks to everybody in this thread for the inspiration!

@JohnnyDill

Can you post some pics of the inside of that atty?
Here she is. The posts are SS turned down to .160", threaded 4-40 with .062" wire holes.
I went with .300" post spacing, like a Magma. I get great flavor & vapor by placing the coils close to and just above the two .094" air holes. My pictured build is rayon with 26 gauge Kanthal, dual .100" ID coils, 8 turns. Works out to .45 ohm which is more than enough for me. View media item 429080
There is NO logical reason to spend the time making an atty with so many great choices out there. But I wanted it to be entirely home-made. :)

Found some double sided board in my stack of boxes! Still don't have any etchant so I used the less exacting method of grinding off the copper with a dremel. Started with a rough cut circle on the old scroll saw then used the dremel to clean it up.

Decided to go ahead and enlarge the holes for the negative contacts and use some hardware I had to attach them instead of solder in case one should break where I bent them. Made the top of the board the atty negative plane and the bottom the battery negative plane. Decided to use a Mosfet so I flattened off a section of the side of the board, bent the tab on the fet 90 degrees and soldered it to the top of the board. Can't believe the fet didn't give up the ghost from the physical and heat abuse. Trimmed off the drain pin since it isn't needed with the tab being drain also, soldered a 15k resistor across the source and gate pins, grounded the source to the battery plane and soldered a wire onto the gate. Next....oops, the gate will require power from the positive of the battery through the switch and I didn't provide for that. Whomever Hindsight is should be shot. Gave it a go anyway and soldered a wire to the side of the silver contact in place hoping it wouldn't come loose where I soldered it to the atty center pin or damage the silicone tubing insulator. Got lucky.

Wow, hadn't seen that. They almost got it right, should have been an LDPE tank squonker. Do you have one? Would be very interested in seeing detailed pictures. Will do some googlefu after work today.
No I don't have one, I just came across it on another forum and it peaked my interest. Glad I could share it, I did wonder if you'd seen it and been inspired. It does show how similar ideas can come independently.

I know this is not the right place, but not everyone visits the WTB forums.

So, is anyone interested in making a DNA40 bigscreen/sx350j squonker for me. Not looking for anything fancy as I am on a budget. Just a FDV spring loaded 510, single 18650 in a transparent red hammond box would be good for me. Or if someone is selling. Please PM me as I do not want to derail the thread.

Thanks.

It's oh so quiet here these days :(
where is everyone? and what are you doing?

Three words: work, work, work. Neck deep in it 7 long days a week. Advice.....don't become a small business man in the electrical field and have everyone want you to do their work and also adding good help is like roping unicorns. Rant over, now back to my nightly desk work.

Studio, a lot of the original guys are vendors now. Mr. Mundy sure has a very intriguing, innovative, and interesting mod in progress!
I know right,!way to kill the best thread ever. Prohibit those that are responsible for not only launching it but continuing to contribute over several years. Really was my only reason to visit Ecf. The modding sections are full of tumbleweeds.
Not happy Jan.

I hear ya Mundy, similar boat myself, although have found time to get the mill out of the crate and tram it up, buy and set up my new bandsaw, build a mini router table, oh look out! I might be prohibited from posting here myself soon.
I miss all you guys, Turbo, Cc, and the rest you know who you are, just want it reiterated .
