So what exactly makes this the best?

There may be better out there, but it's the best I've used or seen.

The designers rethought it from scratch, from the bottle up to the BF 510. Bottle is custom, with a big mouth and ID taper. The ID taper meets a matching taper on the molded silicon plug (cap) which rides easily up and down on the fixed feeder tube. There is no conventional cap to screw on or off. When the bottle is pushed all the way up into the mod there is another silicon piece which grips and supports the OD of the bottle neck. The result is a much better juice seal all around, no leaks ever it seems, and a super quick, easy and foolproof refilling/replacing of the bottle.

The first time I used it I was amazed by what a great solution it is. Props to the designers.

They go for like $30 nowadays, sometimes even $20 for a regular dripbox. They're pretty awesome. Also the Kanger Dripbox 160 goes for like $50 shipped in a lot of places. Both use this extremely innovative design.

Right. I've been tempted to get a few just for the internal hardware. I mean, a FDV BF 510 plus a Reo bottle/cap/tube is already ~$13.

I really want the 160,but that proprietary bottle is the only thing that has stopped me.With the deeming crap going on,i don't want to get it,then down the road not be able to get replacement bottles for it.

Good point, and I share your avoidance of the proprietary. It's the big companies like Kanger however which are least likely to go down.

Yeah,i guess if any make it through,Kanger would probably be one of them.I have even considered just stocking up on spare bottles, but then same problem,i could still end up possibly not having enough haha,I may get one and some spare bottles anyway, and maybe see if i can find a way to modify a standard bottle to fit.I do like the look of those mods, both the 160 and the standard one.

Not all bottles are equal - i have some that are great and i have maybe 100 of them; soft-ish, squonk well - i'm not talking about $5 a bash Italian rubbish, just honest use it till it breaks and toss it gear.

Then i have some that are harder than the Devil's head and i insist HRH uses those to just give away liquid to her friends because they are no use to me.

But bottles will not be the issue, nicotine liquid and the rank idiocy of trying to put a 2007 genie back in a bottle will be.

I agree on the nic base, and am well stocked for that situation. The bottles i was referring to are the proprietary bottles for the Kanger drip box and drip box 160.Those may be unavailable later, since they are not a standard bottle, but made specifically for use in a mod.

Get some Vapage 8 ml bottles and cut the tip down to where the bottle is the same height as the Kanger bottle and carefully trim the outside threads off. Tight fit on the sliding stopper but soft and natural LDPE color instead of the hard dark ?PET? Bottle. I have been using one daily at construction sites and greatly prefer it over the Kanger bottle. I hold the stopper in the lowest position with a finger tip or two through the squonk hole and push down with the bottle on a solid surface. Hasn't leaked a drop, soft squonk, I can clearly see my light colored eliquid, and has a hair more capacity. IIRC they were $3 for 2 bottles from Vapage when I bought a stock of them for various DIY squonk applications a couple of years ago.

I seen this in the drip box thread right after posting that about bottles here last night, great idea, and a great find.As for them fitting so tight,i guess that would be good to stop leaking, but i wonder if you grind a small bit from the inside neck if it would fit easier without compromising the seal,to make it easier to get in and out.

The neck is thin enough that I wouldn't want to compromise it by thinning it further. I could heat it and expand it if I wanted but it really isn't that difficult to get on or off after it has been used for a while.

Put in that order for a dozen additional bottles. Don't need them or the ones I already have for anything right now but what can I say.....I'm a DIY hoarder.

The best squonk bottle/feeder system design I've ever used or seen is on the cheapo Kanger Dripbox line of mods. I've been wanting to disassemble mine for a closer look and see if I could appropriate it for other mods. The outside paint began to chip so I gave myself the go ahead. Unfortunately, the squonk system is integrated with the rest of the internal hardware by a molded plastic frame, and there are a few molded silicon parts that are key to the assembly, so I won't be able to borrow from it easily. I will however have a brushed bare metal body with more rounded edges when I'm done with it.

I really was hesitant about the design holding up until I used it for some time. But I haven't had a single problem with it, so I would rate the feed system right up there with "why didn't I think of that?". The bottle itself however not so much due to the material it is made of. It would be nice to have a stock of the feed system parts available for DIY squonkers but I'm afraid that's just not going to happen.

Thanks. I figured as much seeing some of the videos. Used a v5 and I'm not sure it's removable. Baked ceramic. I could totally be wrong too. Apparently torching could possibly cause the pin pop out.
The set screw collar worked great. Got some at a local RC shop. I can always undo that easily which I think is a good thing..

i just used a butane torch to get the solder to melt and when i intalled the fdv v5 it of course leaked...bummer.so now gonna try the varitube with the dbl nut fully threaded 510 screw and see if using a ring terminal on the + wire and two nuts on the pin to make the pos connection work.../.?forgot to say its on a dna 200 squonker im tryin to finish

Yeah mine leaks a bit. Nothing crazy but, it's annoying. I might try the varitube next time....
