I am considering getting a small CNC because I do some R/C flying and it would be great to be able to cut some precision parts for that but I'm a bit worried about all the software before the CNC actually cuts anything.

For those of you interested this is a shot of how the dna 40 chip is installed. The yellow wires are the UP/DOWN controls and I've milled channels under the screen for them to be routed to the momentary switches ( you can see how they look installed in the second picture). Those are two different mods

does the dna 75 have any firing delay? i notice even tiny delays with regulateds

Doff, not only does it not have a delay, the new DNA line (DNA200, DNA75,DNA60, DNA250) have a controllable pre-heat phase in temperature control mode that enables you to have a power burst (in watts, up to your chip's limit) to get you to your desired temperature instantly

Just caught up with this thread. Really cool to see the making of the masters here.
Steve, your screw ups are probably top notch for me, and others here. I just tried to build a squonker from the chip & battery I took from my Tesla nano 60 that I don't use any more. Had the body ready, looked good for a first time build with no plans. I ended up burning the chip trying to solder the wire for the button. It just flashes the name on it now. I guess I can salvage the lipos and try with a different chip.

Hey that's a dayum fine first attempt if you ask me, sure looks a lot better than my first. As for the chip, not familiar with it at all so I can't really help ya much there other than to say that it's probably wise to check your soldering points. If you're new to soldering there's a tendency to apply too much solder which may have creeped into other contacts on the board. Try and remove as much solder and see what happens.

This is a new Delrin one I finished today and this is what it's like inside.

No jigs Peng, I mill them from measurements using the mill's digital readout. Takes time and a steady hand but it's doable

I played 18 holes the other day as well but it's still just too hot over here. I've got this where I can knock one out, the milling that is in about 2 hours. Then figure about another day and a half to finish it. So 2 days pretty much for each one.

Here is how I found an easy and leak proof way to convert a cheap Varitube V2 spring loaded 510 to bottom feeding

I made a 20mm naval brass tube to the exact diameter of the retaining cap.

Modding to convert to BF

I machined it to fit exactly in the hole of the positive spring loaded contact

I then held the contact pin in the vise and inserted the tube. Then with a blow torch heated it up and put some lead-free solder to bond and seal them.

End result got polished and I machined a lip on the solder

I drilled the top at 1.5mm (same as the tube)

To ensure a leak proof connection I have a small o-ring inside the delrin insulator which gets compressed as the bottom cap is screwed in place.

Those I made, they don't come with the atty. It comes with a stainless cap
