Larry, what atty were you using? The spring collapsing is the safety feature that is activated when you have a short. You can get replacement springs from the Reos mods site and change it out yourself.

EDIT: So sorry this happened. I know how frustrating it is. If you PM redeyedancer or go to the Reos mods site and order a new spring, he can have it to you pronto. Order two while you're there.

I got some attys from Liberty Flights once that had the center post sticking out too far....and they caused a short. Look at the bottom of the atty. If the center is sticking out farther than the threads, then pound it in a little. I just held mine and beat it down on the table a time or two and it pushed the center post in a little. Or....use a different atty. It's totally not advisable to stretch the spring because it defeats the whole purpose of the spring. Do you have something else you can vape for a few days while you get a replacement spring (or two) from Maine?

EDIT: Also, when you get it up and running again, don't screw the attys down very tightly AT ALL. They just need to make contact. If you crank them down, they can squash the gasket and cause a short. (Not saying that you DID screw it on too tightly....just a heads up.) GUYS tend to screw everything on too tightly. I just screw mine on tight enough that they won't fall off....snug, but not tight.

That's all I can think of.

No its a disposable,I did not make it
Its a good one from Liberty Flights
The mod just started boiling at the cup and just shut off :(

Hi Larry,

All attys should be tested before use. Its not rare to have shorts in disposable mass produced atomizers and cartos. Also, don''t screw them down very hard. Once you feel resistance while screwing it down about 1/8 turn is enough. Multimeters are highly recommended for testing store bought attys, cartos, rbas and batteries. Its always good to have a spare spring or two around. Sorry you're having problems.

Doesn't matter if its new where you got it or anything else really it never hurts to meter. Personally I check everything you just never know if it was produced on a Monday morning but seriously for 20 bucks it doesn't get much simpler. Meters : Cartomizer and Atomizer Ohm Meter

Larry sorry as well, trust these fine folks with the information they provide tis the voice of experience. Happened to me on the very first atty I put on my 14500 Mini a couple of years ago. I was surprised and disappointed to say the least, ordered 3-4 extra springs from Robert started checking all atty's with a ohm meter and have never since shorted another Reo. I now have multiple Reo's and rebuild kits just in case, never want to be without the finest vape device available.

UPDATE !!
Hi heard from Rob
I will send it to him to check and fix
Probably a bad atty from Liberty Flights
JC had the same problem with the same atty

Thanks all for your advice :)

That's true. They are the Drip-O-Mizers. Awhile back they were on sale and I bought a few and the first one I used shorted out one of my Minis. Never used another. And when I got to looking, I could tell the center pin was sticking out too far.

This is why i like multimeters over other other testing devices. With a multimeter you can put the RBA on the Reo and then test for shorts by using the leads on the RBAs posts. By using the other box type ohm testers or using another mod to test for shorts you are not testing with the atty on the mod that you are going to use. There can be times when an RBA or atty can test ok but when mounted cause a short. Testing RBAs mounted on a Reo is pretty easy to do and adds another layer of protection against shorts.
