Bought a passthrough, need advice

i have usb passthru's....1 for my 901 and 2 for my 801.

ordered them from bestecig....all 3 are working great....had them for well over a week.

so far so good....they dont look cheap to me.

Madog recommends a 100ohm resistor. I used a 120ohm, just because that was what we had lots of spare. The resistor is only in the circuit to prevent from burning out the led. I found that out with my V1.0 usb. I didn't use one and the led burnt out in 24 hours. Btw, the led has a + and - side. Normally the longer leg is the +, and will not work if connected the wrong way.
As for wire gauge, i used 24 awg wire, again because that was what we had most of spare. I used a single strand (blue wire) out of some old phone wire to connect to the center post on the battery/atomizer connection then connected the 24 awg to that.

I built the internal stuff first, then brought in the usb cable and attached the live to the switch and hooked up the ground wire and shrink tubed the joins. You really can't see it too well but the power feed goes from the switch to the resistor to the + leg of the led. Then i soldered the - leg of the led straight onto the outer casing of the battery connector.

If you want an idea for a box i'd look at the 2x AA battery enlcosure. The battery contacts pull out easy, are really compact and are only $0.99.

My method consists of putting a drop or two of gorilla glue where both ends of the cord attach.....battery end and usb end......let dry hanging down(over a table) overnight and it will hold together fine...even if slightly pulled on,as I have done more than once! It works!The Wiz!

Care to show me some pictures? I went and gots me some guerilla glue

This is what I've done with my USB cable. I had one that got worn at this joint and the connection was broken. The duct tape doesn't look great but it's worked well for months.

I got my Janty passthrough and I wanted to make it durable so I first used super glue brush on style at all the connections covered the wire about an inch up from the connections. then I used electrical tape and covered all the wire.Looked like hell I was embarrassed to use it in public so I removed the tape and got liquid tape instead.I covered all the wire with four coats and covered the battery connection and the usb connection just to strengthen it so if it gets pulled hard by accident. The only thing is I don't use it much. Thought I would only use it but my kissbox batteries are kicka** they last me a min of 5 hours of very heavy vaping with little or no performance issues.I did charge them 20 hours and then vaped for 20 min and charged for another 6 hours.I don't like a cord running from my ecig. I would like to see a wireless usb passthrough.......... lmao.I feel the super glue worked the best made it very solid at the connections. I don't like the flat cord would like a round one instead or a retractable one would be even better. Gonna try to mod it with a retractable cord............vape on.......peace

I'll probably get on it this weekend. Since I have one 901 and one pen that don't work, I think I'll try making a manual pass-through that is switchable between the two styles. Thing is... since neither work, and it doesn't appear to be a power issue... they probably won't work in the mod either. Can't seem to get the switches unstuck.

Is it apparent where the wires connect the solder joints or should I just run a glue line around the usb wire?

for the battery box. couldn't you just put an encloser battery box further down on the cord. That way its not ugly. Just run new + and - wires to the battery connected to the atomizer and run them down to a box further down the cord that could fit into your pocket. It would look just like a regular usb passthrough
