As the title says, I went and bought my first E-cig tonight, about 2 hours ago. Picked up a Blu menthol disposable at the local 7-11.

I will be taking a group of cub scouts camping this weekend and was informed tonight that the entire facility is a non smoking area. So rather than hike 5 to 10 miles to go smoke a cigarette, I figured this would be a better option.

So, immediate thoughts, the taste is WAY more medicine like than what I get from my go to Camel Menthol Silvers (lights), this does NOT taste like a menthol cigarette... I am hopeful that I can find a brand that will be closer to what I am used to, or barring that, get used to this flavor. Additionally, there is the occasional popping sound when I inhale, that threw me at first.

I have had 2 regular cigarettes since I bought the thing and I can definitely tell the difference between the two. I seem to be taking deeper inhales than with a normal cigarette, I think this is because I am not inhaling heated smoke so I dont get that temperature warning that I have inhaled too much. I think this is causing a small bit of irritation in my throat too.

I seem to be craving more than normal too.

I am thinking that part of the problem may be that I am not getting enough nicotine from the E-cig. I dont know if this is because I am not using the cig correctly, or if it is just me getting used to a new way of doing things... Anyways I suppose that I am going to give this a try for a while. The real question I am thinking to myself now is do I get more of these disposables or do I look for something else?

A cig-a-like such as a Blu can be good as a starter, but as you said, they're not very satisfying.

I recommend you get something like an Ego Twist battery, (or 3), and some easy to use clearomizers such as Kanger Evods and/or a Protank II, along with some good menthol juice at a 18mg or 24mg nic level; available from many, many vendors, maybe start with mount baker Vapor.

Good luck, man. I can say that stepping up to at least the level of gear that I've recommended shoud help, and be much more satisfying than the Blu, but ultimately, the most important thing is willpower.

I agree ego and a kanger is a great starter. but get at least 2 batts. you don't want it to die on you keep a backup

How long will a battery last you think?

And since Amazon (my favorite store) does not appear to sell many e-cigs, is there a comparable site? I looked a bit but did not see a "trusted vendors" post on the forum.

You know, I think I know what this disposable reminds me of... Years back, they had some cigarettes that had a carbon tip in them that "steamed" the tobacco... And I think the texture and taste is reminding me of that.

I'm not familiar with those, but don't let the Blu put you off vaping.

They are just a "starter", at best. Pick up what I recommended and you'll be a lot more satisfied with vaping as a real replacement for smoking.

I will agree with 7sixtwo. My wife had a Blu, she could not smoke, and the patch just wasn't doing it for her. It helped her through the few days but take one of those away and I'm not sure if I would be here. I saw the potential of it and decided to do some reserch. It led me here to ECF. I bought a eGo battery and a eVod tank. I have never looked back. I had a few times I thought about smoking a cigarette, and i even tried, but it tasted horrible. After 20 years of 2-3 packs a day it was ridiculously easy to stop. I would recommend a couple decent tanks and batterys like stated. The Blus will work, but a good setup may make you quit for good. I was a menthol smoker and my favorite ejuice, for now, is heaven send by Roar. Good to have you here and I wish you the best of luck. Let us know what path you take.

Welcome! You might also want to check out http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/ecf-library/337017-inhalation-technique-e-cigarette.html for some tips on inhaling using an e-cig versus how you inhale when smoking.

It does generally take a little bit of trying different flavors to finally find the one(s) that you like and satisfy you best. If you decide to stay with this, the suggestion above for getting some twist batteries and clearomizers or tanks, is a good suggestion for a relatively inexpensive basic setup for starting out. Generally getting the initial batteries is the largest expense, but the batteries will last for quite awhile. Clearomizers and tanks vary in how long they last, but if you get ones that you can buy replacement coils for, it does help keep the long-term cost down.

Good luck!

Right, I am reading much the same sentiment from various posters and from other places on the web... I realize this is just the start, really this was a stop gap to get me through this weekend with a bunch of maniacal monkeys (I mean cub scouts)... But if it is better for me, I probably should do it.

I had similar experiences with quitting, but I also used Chantix 3 different times. Never had any real side effects other than some really fun dreams.

The problem with Chantix is that 6 months after you quit, there is nothing to stop you from being stressed out and picking up a pack.

Whatever you go with, that Blu isn't going to last a weekend. I'm pretty sure you will need at least one per day.

I've heard more good things about the NJoy Kings than Blu, by the way. I tried a Blu, and yeah, it wasn't very good.

Oh I figured that I would likely need 2 for the weekend. As for the Njoy's, the couple of people at the gas station said they did not like them all that much compared to the Blu.
