So I'm looking at buying my first mod soon and have narrowed down my search in both categories, but what are the real benefits of Box vs. Tube?

I assume with box, the benefit is not having to drip... but I saw a thing that you can attach to the tube and squeeze for it to feed the atty... so that may be irrelevant.

So can someone please explain to me the pro's and con's of each? :D

To me the most important thing was battery type/life.

I'm trying a Darwin right now and loving it. It uses a 1600mah laptop type battery rated up to 1000 charge cycles with built in usb type charger. VV from 3.6v to 12v auto calculated based on watt/power setting.

I'm loving the way Variable voltage works with this thing, but initially what attracted me to it was the battery type and weight.

No built in juice feeder with this thing...I use cartos (CE2 or Vortex) at this time.

More expensive than a REO I think...but it comes with the battery and charger as part of the mod.

There is little difference. Tube mods are a little harder to feeder but not impossible and box mods are a bit harder to pocket but not impossible. Sizes are variable for both as well. A wood box mod can be kinda bulky but a REO is barely bigger than a cell phone. A tube mod can be only a few inches long to nearly 8 inches if you want to stack 650 batteries, could easily double as an impact weapon if it were sturdy enough. :D

It is all about personal preference. I prefer tube mod - I just like the feel and looks of them better. But I do like the box mods when I just want to throw one in my pocket and go. As others have stated, not all box mods are feeder mods. A big advantage to box mods is that many of them are quite inexpensive, even in 5V and variable voltage models.

Cartomizers...you just screw one on and vape till it runs dry...screw on a fresh one and keep vaping. It's not hard to find stock inexpensive disposable cartos that will hold hundreds of puffs each. Really good if you like to swap flavors often :) You can use these on any PV...box, tube, etc...

Bottom feeder boxes, and top fed tube mods...you occasionally squeeze a bottle to wet the atty. Some people even mix cartomizers and feeders...and squeeze enough to keep the carto good and wet from time to time (nearly doubles how much juice you can carry in one load with some carto types).

At first...squeezing a juice-feeder might take a little practice...learn how often to do it without flooding or getting dry hits...but I hear few people complain bout it.

If you're concerned about what an air bag might do if it went off while sucking on a PV....consider a gooseneck if you end up choosing a larger mod type. Yes...it's much like those flexible microphone holders and can help you get a safer more comfortable set-up.

I haven't had any trouble using the REO while driving- I like not having to worry about my carto drying out mid-trip (which was a problem for me before) and it's easy to keep track of my juice level with a quick glance at the bottle. However, YMMV and I'm sure there's going to be someone who will argue that tube mods are better!

You can get/make either of them in juice fed, of bottom feeder. The main diff i've noticed is that a vv tube mod costs much more than a vv box mod(box mods also cost less in general at any voltage), and also, if you're lookin' into building one yourself, the box is much easier to build than the tube, yet the tube has much more in the way of aesthetic options.

One thing to consider...

Many of the box mods that seem cheaper (when buying premade ones) often do not include batteries and chargers and sheathes and such as that.

Case in point...An infinity with a set of batteries and charger is well under $100 now.
Joker/Pearl/Turbo can all come VV and Regulated (PULSE) now as well...and come in kits with all kinds of goodies included. Just get the bare PV...and the price suddenly drops off a bunch :) Look at the economy but rock solid ShortStack series at Mad Vapes...the biggest one is down to $45 (No VV).

Next...check out a Wet Box at Nhaler (Not VV, but a bottom feeder) at $50...no battery, no charger.
Little Sister from Ken's Mod Boxes (great little VV PV)... $75ish? Not sure about batteries and chargers on that one.
Old Goat Mod Boxes can come with a bottom feeder at $40. Again...battery and charger?

So...consider all that in shopping around.

finding the Reo Mini was the answer to my vaping prayers after about a month of vaping. It's a bottom feeder, the battery lasts an entire day. The Reo, a mini, grand, or woodvile, yes, go for the Reo!
Although I've also got a sparkplug, & a saber touch, I run them both with 5ml tanks that my husband built for me.
The Reo answered my prayers & sent me into vape bliss.
