Yeah, I know. I made a Hana mini clone with a large screen DNA40 with an 18650 and a few others. I had to mill out the window for the large screen and battery compartment to allow for an 18650. This kit should be fairly easy and quick.
Nooooo.... nothing that difficult here. A few bends of the clips and 510 washer. Its just the small parts you need to be careful of. The magnets are literally the size of an ant. And STRONG! Easy to lose if your not careful. And the screws to hold the chip in. I tried to magnetize them, but I guess they're S/S.

The soldering was about 5 minutes of the hour ;)

Hmmmmm smaller than I thought. Exercise...... Restraint!!
I'm a fan of smaller mods. I can accept the width of the device since it's dual batteries (I want the runtime rather than the extra watts). The SXM is the biggest (tallest?) mod I have and the heaviest. I saw a pic of the Boxer next to a SX(M?) and it was shorter. That helped me decide that I wanted it over the SXM. My current favorite mods is the VS DNA40 when I'm out and rDNA40 when I'm home.

I was being flippant about the 3 wires ;). Just saying it looks like a really easy DIY kit to put together.

How are the magnets held on? Press fit or glued/epoxied?

I'm excited to get the kit. I hope it ships on the expected date (6/22).

I always hit GV on chat to check ship dates. I'm too impatient to wait for the email notice. ;)

If I get my black Boxer kit on Saturday, I will post pics of the kit and build, unless someone beats me to it.

It was. I bet if I got a 2nd one it would only take about 30 minutes to do since i'm familiar with it now.
But posted that more for the not so experienced. Saving the $80 and doing it yourself is nice (and FUN), but losing one of the small parts or needing a replacement part (or two) because you did something wrong, I'm sure wont be. Would be tough looking at the unit for a few more days once you have it and waiting for the extra parts to arrive ;)

The instructions stated epoxy. I'd gather that the magnets would stick together and pull out of the unit/door if it wasn't. Definitely post some pics when you get yours. If it's the dark navy blue like in their facebook picture, I won't be able to resist.

There's only one Blue and it looks like the dark navy blue.

Had an extended chat with GV today and got a lot of good info. Sent me side by sides of the blue and grey. Grey is a "distressed" grey. They are a 3d print done by someone other than ShapeWays but a very similar process. Didn't divulge who but I could probably guess. ;)

How so? It looks like their 6/22 shipment came early, or at least that's what I'm thinking. You can still get blue.
According to my chat they had an unexpected run on the blue. No more till the first of July. Only color they were out of:eek:
