Yes, if one has routine soldering experience, it's not the hardest build, but lots of people think soldering is easy to pick up. It's sort of like the illusion of DIY home construction. People think doing something is really easy because they watched a video. Then they actually do it and realize there is a certain skill from repeated experience required to do it right.

Are you guys using any specific batteries in your Boxer 133? I bought a pair of AW 18650s, but I'm getting a check battery message and the screen only stays on for a split second. I'm hoping it's an issue with the batteries I'm using....any assistance greatly appreciated!

First - take a look at @Mooch 's battery ratings information:

https://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/f...des-picking-a-safe-battery-to-vape-with.7447/

There are some AW's that might work but any of the button-top protected ones, I don't see them doing much of anything in a high-drain setup like what the Boxer is targeting but I haven't tried them myself.

Right now in my sub-ohm 18650 setups (my Boxer is on the way back now) I'm using married pairs of three different types of batteries with no issues ~100W:

Sony VTC4
MXJO 18650F (alleged 3000mAh, more like 2700mAh)
Samsung 25R

And all of those work great for me in my regulated setup - my one mechanical setup I use just the VTC4s (a different married pair) for safety.

Does this only happen during the firing of the mod? If so, then it likely means that the voltage sag when attempting to fire goes below a threshold setting.

Cheers for the responses guys, big thanks for that. I've actually got it working now as I noticed that for some reason, in the e-scribe s/w the battery was set to 3-cell instead of 2 (for the 133 version).

It did however, take more than 30 attempts to upload the settings to the device! Due to EEEPROM errors and EEPROM communication losses. Is this something I should be worried about?

It could possibly be the supplied cable, but I'm a little worried about that...

Mke sure you change the nominal voltage to 7.4 v and put in 2500mah or what ever mah your 18650s are.

You know you shouldnt be getting dry hits so something is wrong with your setup. Maybe give us a bit of info and maybe we can get you up and running properly! Shame if you end up giving up TC because when it works, it really is excellent. I havent used a kanthal build in anger for months (except on my little tootle puffer buddha mini, but even that will be TC'd soon lol)

The dry hits were user error really buddy, I made the mistake of putting a temp coil on my mod after I had been using it in kanthal mode, so top of mod was still little warm and will have screwed up sensor ha, I honestly like temp control just not as much as kanthal, I like the way kanthal responds and guess I'm so used to it that its my preferred method of vaping, please accept my apologies if my grammar is all to .... but I do have dyslexia lol ( true story ) I'm not very good at grammar because of this but luckily it doesn't effect reading just writing,

Well after having my dna200 boxer for few weeks now I really love the performance of it, I'm getting a full day vaping from the lipo and I charge it every night before bed ready for morning when I wake ha, I was going to get another in th dna133 form or sx350j, but I ended up getting a jm 26650 stabilised wood mod instead lol, that arrives next week and be interesting to see how long vaping I get from a good 26650 battery, never had one before in that format but I noticed you can get good amp with around 4500mah, so looking forward to that setup and will post pictures when it arrives ha, I bought it used on a deal I could not refuse and it looks killer.
It has the sx350j chip in it like, but If I don't like the chip I can pop a DNA in no problem lol, but should be fine I hope lol

No can do..... DNA200 chip requires 7.4v.

If it came from GV assembled just pressing the Restore Defaults button will revert all mistakenly changed settings you may have made back to the condition/settings it was received in.

Ah, found it - the Watt-Hour Calculator!

Using 2 18650s = 3000mAh and 7.4v (2x 3.7v) = 22.2 Wh

Does that seem right? The default was set to 9...

Thanks again peeps :)
yes mate, Using 2 18650s = 3000mAh and 7.4v (2x 3.7v) = 22.2 Wh is correct.
you will find the battery life will be much better
the first few days i had mine i had changed it to 2 cell but hadn't changed the mah and voltage settings (i think it was set by the factory at 11.1 and 720 mah)my battery life was crap soon as i put the correct settings for 2x 18650s in it lasted a lot longer.

Thanks bro, I will take another look. Just put off by the number of times I may have to keep trying to upload the settings  ...need to find another cable to test it

Ginger received my defective unit today - repaired it today - and printed shipping for it today. w00t!

The end result was a warped DNA200 screen - which they replaced.

They threw in a bit for the inconvenience and took care of other misc. needed.

And they continued communicating all along the way - excellent. I'll report back on functionality and such as soon as it's back with me and I'm escribed up. -Mags

well thats good to know at least the customer service was painless!!

After a mult-week debacle with USPS - my repaired Boxer unit from Ginger arrived! Ginger was aware of the situation and the open case with USPS.

It appears fully functional and repaired in the first hour or so of use. I'll update firmware and start tweaking settings.

Dual 18650s and it's SUPER light and small and really ergonomic ..

Full report coming after a bit more use and direct comparison to another DNA 200 I have. Cheers, -Mags
