I just learned about E-cigs from my brother (non-smoker), who found a thread on a cruise forum. I read the thread and now here I am. I have not ordered my e-cig yet because I am so overwhelmed. The more I read, the more confused I am. Since I did not want to buy ananlogs again, I picked up the njoy NPRO as a temp this morning. I had not had an anolog since Friday.

I plan to buy two kits - one for me and one for my mom - I got so excited about about and she said she would give it a go.

I am thinking of getting the JOYE 510 kits from cignot with driptips, then ordering juice from Tasty Vapors. I am thinking of getting this because it seems to be a common beginner kit.

I do not smoke much or often, unless I am with people who are smoking or if I have a couple drinks, then I cannot seem to stop myself. So I am thinking for myself a couple bottles of low strength or no nicotine juices.

As for my mom, if it is not simple and inexpensive, it will not work for her. It seems like the drips tips are easy and inexpensive when using the e-juice, rather than cartos, right? The cartos are expensive, but simple.

Am I on the right track?

Thanks for all the info and help!

You're on the right track, but you have to remember that vaping has a learning curve no matter which e-cig you buy. Even the simple kits take some practice and getting used to.

You might be fine with a 510, but you should also check out Smokeless Image. They're a new company that's been getting some really great reviews. They sell a KR808D-1 kit (even though it doesn't specify on the site) which is another commonly used battery.

Your mother would probably do better with either a Riva or an eGo kit. Those batteries are larger, so they'll last longer between charges. They look more like a cigar than a cigarette, but they're great starter kits.

Dripping takes a little practice, so you might want to buy some cartomizers, too. These are easy to fill and inexpensive to use.

If you don't plan to vape much then a 510 or 808 kit is just fine. Personally I would get an 808 kit just because the batteries give a little more punch and last longer.

If your mom smokes more than half a pack a day, or wouldn't like messing about with charging all the time I think you should look into an ego/riva kit with 900-1100mah batteries. These would last her a whole day without worries.

As for the atty's over cartos... This will be a very subjective thing. I personally think atty's are more mess and fuss than cartos. With a carto your mom could fill up 5 and not have to worry about anything for a day or more. Or even just by prefilled and not do anything but screw it onto the battery. If she refills them herself they really aren't to expensive especially since you need a new atty every month or so. 1 atty per month or 5 cartos per month=same cost.

atty's are generally used by most to drip a couple drops in at a time and do that every few puffs. The carts never worked for me but some still use and like them.

hope that helps

Maybe have a look at these

Jazz cartopipe the first Cartomizer Pipe link is not the pipe

Its very similar to an ego and uses a protected 14500 battery. Its modular which is nice and the price looks very nice on it. He doesn't sell batteries or chargers but you can get those cheap at Madvapes or Super T. The sealed proprietary batteries that a lot of kits sell are expensive, this lets you pick the battery you want and would be real cheap to replace if one should go bad on you.

smokeless image does sell a solid kit. A little pricey but not overly so. The $65 pro kit would be great for you. The charging case looks nice and with the small batteries (65mm 180mah) you would want to have the case so you know there will be enough charge to make it all day.

I put together the same kit smokeless image sells from litecigusa for $57 shipped including a usb charger and the carrtomizers from smokeless image.

I know that I am going to LOVE vaping. The part I hated the most about smoking was the smoke itself, but love the ritual of it. DH doesn't smoke and has always disliked when I do, so this will be perfect. I have read a thread a lady posted about actually losing weight quitting smoking by vaping! I guess the oral fixation is satisfied and there are apparently great tasting 0 nic liquids. Can't wait to figure it all out and place my order.

Thanks for the all the advice! I was thinking the eGo may be better for my mother because of the longer battery life. Are all the Smokeless Image kits the 808?

I am a bit confused abut the 14500 battery? Does that a longer life battery for just the eGo?

Also, thanks for the tips on putting together my own kit.

Ego uses a seal battery, the whole lower part of the unit is the battery with the switch. The one I linked uses a battery like this that slides into it.
Ultrafire Protected 14500 Battery, 900 mAH

You unscrew the unit and remove the battery and stick it on the charger and have a second battery to put back in. Sorry if it sounds confusing but it really is not. Do a little more looking around at the different types of kits and it should start to make sense shortly.

The Noego that I linked isn't the full kit you would need to buy 2 batteries,a charger and some cartomizers to complete it. You can get all that over at madvapes on the cheap.

you're welcome. I'm a penny pincher :)

The 14500 device from diablo's post is an e-power changeable battery ego style device. The ego's battery isn't removable. With the e-power you would buy multiple generic lithium ion batteries and charge them on a separate charger. 14500 is the size of battery that particular e-power uses. Mine uses 14650. I don't think you need to look into an epower.

Your mom needs the simplicity of an ego. Could get her a passthrough ego. Just plugs into any usb for charging and you can use it while plugged in.

I was on the same path as you. Started with a njoy from the corner gas station, then upgraded to a joye 510 and finally a riva 510 for the extra battery life. Been off analogs for almost four weeks now. Good luck to you. Also, in my opinion the drip tips are the way to go. Much more pronounced throat hit and lung volume; very similar to an analog.

I would go with the 808-D like the Volt or similar model for you and the Echo 650 for your mother. Both are automatic batteries and use the same type of threads so everything is interchangeable. The cartos for the Echo hold 3 ml of juice which will last your mother a full day without changing batteries or cartos. They are simple to re-fill and I would suggest the Chinese menthol from Madvapes it is the best and cheapest Menthol you will find. You can buy an Echo 650 or 1300 kit with six cartomizers for 45.00 at D and B Gold here on the forum. http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...old-has-echo-e-cartomizers-7.html#post3514317

Congrats to you and your mom! The newer, bigger batteries on the egos and ego clones are nice and will last all day if you don't mind holding a sharpie-sized ecig. Look for 1100 mah or higher. You can get kits for $45 -50 these days. That includes two batteries, two atomizers, a charger and some (pretty much worthless) cartridges. Cartridges are phasing out because of cartomizers - an atomzer and cartridge in one. You'll want some blank cartomizers and juice. You may want to try sample sizes of juices so you're not stuck with a big bottle of juice you don't enjoy. lots of wonderful juice companies. GourmetVapor is having a 50% off sale now for the 4th of July. Good Luck!

I am a bit confused abut the 14500 battery? Does that a longer life battery for just the eGo?

Crunched the numbers, the Riva 510 from liberty flights which is eGo style with a sealed battery. The kit is under $40 shipped and is a really good value. Batteries cost under $20, are estimated to last 300 charge cycles, and are 750mA.

E-cig economics - Battery cost : electronic_cigarette

The short of it is a NoEgo or E-power is an ego style that takes off the shelf batteries (14500/14650) , so it's cheaper in the long term. It would take at least a year to realize that savings, presuming $17 more for the E-power. After that year is up, you're talking $5 batteries vs sub $20 batteries. Presuming 300 charge cycles, think either $20/year for ego style, or $5/year for 14500 types which also come in ego style.

Dripping is cool, but I just ordered my first set of 510 cartos, and I can say I refilled the Smoketech 1.5 dual coils a total of 6 times before it dropped down to 3ohm. So, presuming this pattern holds, that's $14 (I bought extra long)/month, vs ~$10/month, with all likelyhood that $10 will go over a month. Honestly I'd get both, do one, and use the other as a backup.

There really is no wrong choice here. We are talking about at least a $200/month habit being replaced by a sub $50/month habit that requires a ~$50 initial investment in hardware, with another $30 for initial juice supply.

It seems like the drips tips are easy and inexpensive when using the e-juice, rather than cartos, right? The cartos are expensive, but simple.

It seems like there might be a bit of confusion here. It's not a matter of drip tip v.s. carto. It's a matter of atomizer + drip tip or cartos. The drip tip goes into the atomizer. Atomizers are more expensive than cartos, but they last a lot longer. Which would be cheaper in the long run is something that would be hard to quantify due to the fact that there's so many different attys and cartos out there.

Bottom line though, PV's with cartos or attys are cheaper than cigarettes if you don't go crazy and keep buying new hardware.
