So I bought 1 week ago the Zeus X. After hading a lot of issues with the coils getting flooded now after reading a couple of reddit posts about it, I put a lot more cotton than I usually do and it fixed the flooding problem, but now I get a weird taste, the flavor is just weird. Anyone how can I fix this?
Hi and welcome,
You may have a bit too much cotton in them now.

I used to get an "odd" taste when wicking and it went away when I started washing my hands after coiling and before touching any wick.

Would you please post a photo of your build?
Is/are your coil(s) spaced or contact?
What is the resistance of your build?
How many watts are you feeding it?
Did you dry fire the coils to ensure even heating and no hot spots before wickig?
Have you re tightened the screws that hold the coil legs? They may loosen a bit after a few heating and cooling cycles and should be checked periodically.

Cheers

So now after I removed the cotton put another type in it , a lot less cotton than before, now I've got the weird taste and the spitback and a lot of spitback. I usually hit it with around 80W also it's 0.15 ohm coil. I will post a photo now.

is it a "wet T-shirt" taste? cotton has that tendancy... its why I switched to Rayon..

Hello @Tracomi, how do you store your cotton and what cotton are you using?

As, it'll absorb flavours it comes into contact with. And each brand seems to give a different taste to your vape.

Yep it's a cotton taste...putting a bit too much has a certain taste for sure.....

Thank you @Tracomi.

It looks like you may have a little too much cotton left on the tails of your wicks, so could possibly be running the wicking through the coils a little dry.

May I ask, is it good for a few vapes after being primed?

Hey, after priming it it still gives a weird taste idk , I will maybe try to switch the cotton i don't really know what to do anymore.

Sometimes these things happen, all you can do is try to be as zen about it as you can.

One thing that you could try is Rayon, not tried it myself but here's some information on using it.
Rayon wick, better flow, flavor, saturation and Nic Hit!
Rayon Wick - Better Flow, Flavor, Longevity, and Nic Hit!! - Pt.2

The only thing that I do know is that you don't want the cotton reinforced stuff.

Also you may need to get an airtight container to store some wicking in, got to sort one out for myself soon.

Is it safe to assume you have used Cotton Bacon prior to the odd taste? What is it that you taste? I would disassemble the deck, clean, inspect for damage (just in case of a burnt insulator) and install new coils and wick. See how that works for you

Yeah I've used that cotton before, the taste it is I don't really know how to describe it but like a little my D'ohnut flavor + dirty socks. There is some notes of my flavor but a lot of dirty socks, I will try to remove again the cotton , remove the coils clean the deck and inspect it but I had done enough for today I will update you tomorrow.

Thank for the help guys :) .
