The difference in leg lengths between the two makes it look like there's no way they're heating evenly. And if you can't tighten it all down properly, you should just quit messing with it until you can properly install everything.

Yep. I have it put away, I don't want to mess with it until I can work with it more. Just looking for reasons why and what I can fix. I will also build another coil, see if I can get them closer together. It's harder than I thought it'd be, haha

and as papa_l asked above earlier on, did you give the atty a cleaning?
it could just be machine oil that you are tasting;

you might get the taste of machine oil coming from down in the insulator material under the positive post.

It came from a shop and it was the display version, all cleaned out and ready to go. I had two coils on before this and never had a problem.. Maybe I should clean it again though,

I am using 22 gauge at a .3 build. I had a .2 build earlier that worked very well. I realize this is dangerous for my experience level and I am waiting on some higher gause kanthal to go for a .5 or so.

ouch; that's way out of my guesstimation league; I think that will take way more than 30 watts.

You had a 0.2 build earlier on the same atty? If so then it shouldn't be a machine oil issue.

Well one other possibility is you were running 100 watts on the earlier 0.2 ohm build and burnt some insulator material I suppose with all the heat.

Another thing is the internal diameter of the coil; too big can cause some issues at high power - so I have read anyway; I don't vape that high.
