Weird taste after building coils

Oh really? That "break in" usually doesn't have THAT strong of a taste. Just makes the normal flavor taste a little "off".
Idk... Can you take a decent picture of your coil and wick build?
It appears fine... Are you sure that lower coil in the picture is isolated from the body? It looks like it could be touching.
It is not touching. However, a few things I noticed upon closer inspection: There is a little bit of cotton stuck under a lead. The leads aren't cut flush with the posts. AND, I neglected to screw the posts all the way down. I don't have a small screw driver on me at the moment, but do you think it could be any one of these issues?

For a first build maybe do 1 coil; if it tastes weird you won't waste time adding the second one.
Those wicks look very dry.
Does it taste harsh? Loose posts and untrimmed leads can lead to small shorts. They give you a really harsh hit. Other than that, as long as the wick is wet enough, you should be fine.
It tastes.. Just nasty. Harsh nasty. Like, I get a lil bit of the saturated flavor, and then it's just. Ew. I've had dry hits and it isn't similar whatsoever.
Could be burnt cotton - clean the deck, make certain there's no cotton trapped in leads, screws, or posts, and rewick.
There is a chance that there's machine oil either on the atty or on the kanthal you're using. Did you clean the atty when you got it?

There is cotton under the screw. I will rewick and see if that solves things.I've had builds on the atty before, and it was great. So I'm thinking it's that little strand of cotton under the screw. I will rewick and I think that'll solve my issues. I'll also rinse the coils while I'm at it.

The difference in leg lengths between the two makes it look like there's no way they're heating evenly. And if you can't tighten it all down properly, you should just quit messing with it until you can properly install everything.
This was after vaping on it. Even when it is fully saturated it is still the same deal. And unfortunately I can't do that on my cheapy mutation x, dual coil seems to be my only option.
