I'm a girl. I know squat about the technical side of things, but my new and very first mini Protank II (that I bought because of good reviews I read on here) tastes horrible!! I've tried to vape on volts and watts, lowest setting on each, and I'm still getting the burnt taste if I pull on it too long. I'm really sad because I was so excited for it to come in. I've been using the Kanger T3S, but still smoking analogs. I thought maybe with a better topper then I could finally find my perfect setup without getting into all the technical stuff. FAIL! What's wrong?

Did you prime the coils with a few drops of juice before you started ? If not, you might have burnt the wicks right out of the gate, and nothing will get that taste out. Not a big problem, just replace the coil unit with a new one, and prime it before you start using it.

Well there really isn't much difference besides the glass. If you burnt some juice on the coil it will continue to have a burnt taste till you change the coil;

Standard operating settings are 5 watts in VW mode or 3.7 volts in VV mode.

Sounds like your good to go.

I usually rinse my new coils with water first. Then I put a drop of juice on each side of the wicks. I find this helps with the priming and cleans anything on the coil.
It usually takes a couple drags for the water to evaporate and to get vapor, but I know Im not going to burn the coil because it is already wet from the water.

Keep it simple. If you don't want to get into the technical stuff, stick with the same gear. A couple of Mods, and a few, simple to use, tanks.

Reading your writing, I thought "to much power" in the settings. If you burn the coil, you burn the juice in the tank. Just have to toss the juice and coil and clean out the tank really well. I have spare tanks so that when a tank is betting a bubble bath, I use another.

If you have questions, we are always here.

How to prime a coil:

1: TIME:
Put coil on base; put liquid in tank; screw base on tank; leave upright for an hour. YAY!

or

2: Direct hit:
Screw coil on base; use a pliers to rock spire side to side to expose the wicks and coil; use a dropper bottle/needlebottle to drop some drops on the coil/wick; Assemble and try it;

or

3: Suck it in:
This takes some practice.

you got a tank of juice and you want to change the coil so you swap out the coil and put in a dry coil:
cover the two airholes on the miniprotank base with 2 fingers;
suck gently on the mouthpiece to draw liquid from the tank into the atomiser head;
you might notice a bubble of air rise up into the tank.
vape away.

I was trying to keep it simple, but wasn't being satisfied. Started with Halo Tritons but soon switched to the MVP because it just wasn't cutting it. Wanting to find a good topper to get more satisfaction without rebuilding, etc. Didn't care for the iClear30. Simple isn't always better, but surely I can get a good setup without getting too technical. And no...not "too much power". I started out very low in the settings to prevent burning it. I don't believe that's the issue. I am smart enough to realize to do that.

SO, are the coils the same? Can I use those?

Michelle, personally I think those mini's are a pita. This is bad advice but it works for me. After I fill my tanks I let them sit for about 5 minutes. I then fire the mod at the lowest v/w setting a few times, without inhalling. If it sounds ok and smells ok then I know I'm set to hit it. I cringe at the burnt taste and avoid at all cost!

Well.... To answer your questions.... Yes. The coils are the same except the chimney. Some times the height of the coil may also be a little different also. If you try using the T3s coils <-> Mini pt tank, you may have to add that little rubber grommet (the one that you add , install it upside down. You can tell if you just put them all together, you can see if the rubber grommet is touching and sealing or not.

I personally think you made a great choice on the tank. These tanks are liked by 80-90% of the folks who use it. As I do. There are a few things to keep in mind as you are starting to realize. But It's much much less troubled than most tank (different types) on the market right now.

Here are the list of different style BCC tanks on sale now but uses the same replacement coils. EVOD, MT3S, MT4, T3, T32, T3s, T4, X6S , REM, V2, V2-DT6 ,V2-DT8 , BCC , Mini BCC, KWX6 , X9 Protank, Protank 2, Protankmini, KWX5, PURITANK, Davide Mini Glassomizer etc.

A few things to watch out for.
How much to Tighten.

2 fingers tight. Not more not less. If it's not firing, than try picking up the center post on the battery with tooth pick or small screw driver just a tiny bit. Lining up to anything is accidental and that is all.

Gurgling. Caused by removing flavor wicks. Seal on the center posts not sealing. Or E-liquid is too low.
Do not remove the flavor wicks unless you are having dry burns (wick not getting any e-liquid).
move up the seal on center posts and let it seal naturally (its get pushed down when you install the base).
Do not let the tank run lower than 1/4 of the window.

I use small piece of rolled up paper towel to remove condensation from the airway after
a. Filling.
b. after vaping for about 1/2 of a tank.

Cheers
